Helldivers 2 | Flying Bugs and How to Handle Them

In Helldivers 2 we have all sorts of bugs, we have small bugs, bigger jumping bugs, bigger charging bugs, big spitting bugs, even bigger spitting bugs, but we never had a flying bug... until now.
The flying bugs, or the shriekers, is now here to terrorize the helldivers in terminid planets and this short video will show you what they are, how to kill them, how they can kill you, and how to destroy their homes.

It takes 3 whole mags of anti materiel sniper rifle rounds to take out a single spire, and on some maps there can be anywhere from 3 to 9 of them, your best bet is going to be with either a patriot exosuit (2 missiles per spire), an eat-17 (2 rockets per spire), an autocannon (9 rounds per spire), a las 98 (10 second beam), a 120mm HE barrage (surprisingly effective), a 380mm HE barrage (also surprisingly effective), a scorcher (some tests reveal as few as 4 shots per spire), and of course the hell bomb.
Of all of them the Eat-17, Las 98, Autocannon, and Scorcher deal with them the fastest. As for dealing with the shriekers, theyre actually very weak and dont do a lot of damage unless you let them body you, so the easiest way to avoid that is to stay prone since they cant reach you, you can also run away while firing since they immediately climb after diving so they lose the chance to hit you if you keep running away from them. Fast firing automatic weapons do very well against them, assault rifles, smg's, machine pistols, machineguns, gatling turrets, etc. the las-16 and scorcher does best against them from testing.

@@salvofiasco2498 something to add, after some testing it appears that the shriekers are especially weak to fire damage, but dont go aiming at them with the flamethrower, instead the breaker incendiary appears to be the best way to deal with them, a single shot to a shrieker is enough to take them out of the equation in less than 3 seconds, since the fire DoT really does a number on them. however the breaker incendiary's effective range is at around 40 meters, beyond that it can be somewhat iffy, at very long ranges the Las-98 still does better.

I just got the game yesterday, saw the new flying bugs in a loading screen with warnings about it. Then I got in a match where a guy was trying to tell everyone the flying bugs were real and the other guys were like, whatever dude, and I said nothing.
I could have backed him up then and there, or let him get the last laugh in when they have to face them for real

I shouldn't have to fight these things on the easiest difficulty in the game that I just started. "Casual" my ass. Like I literally do not have the gear to fight these things and it's making me want to quit the game because my whole team just gets gangbanged by these things until we are out of lives.

So something you didn’t point out is if you go prone they literally can’t hit you they swoop down then miss because they can’t get low enough
