Excellent guide. Rarely do you see guides talking about how to practically exploit openings and use stagger control to your advantage. This is extremely helpful for anyone trying to get good at CB.
Thanks for your feedback! A lot of people know about this stuff but at the same time, a lot don't. And like you said is not mentioned anywhere. Thought of sharing for those who have hit a wall.
These niche, old gen focused content channels are my favorite things to watch as a 3rd, 4th gen veteran. It's like discovering an old friend and learning so much about what they have found. Also awesome guide!
Very in-depth video, especially about the stagger into AED. I play over 500 hunts of Valor CB and I tend to just play reactively over predictively because I find Valor CB safer and easier to play. But this video makes me wanna play Striker CB after giving me a new insight. Thanks for this video
Glad I could help! If it helps picturing the style better, Striker kinda plays like old school GS. Except the AED is slower than a Charge level 3. Which is why we have to do all this other set ups to land it
I used to never play CB because I found it too confusing but I eventually decided to pick it up in Rise and fell in love. Now I've backtracked back to World, and I'm enjoying the hunts and, from time to time, go back to GU to try and learn it there. Definatley vast differences between world and GU but I'm loving the Valor stance CB style.
@@megalander4712 yes, it is just experience. Note that some trips only occur when the monster is exhausted. For example, after staggering Brachydios' legs when exhaust.
Thank you. I learned a lot. This game is so brutal with the scaling as solo, have to learn how to speed run the end game monsters to just not time out.
The multimonster quests on G3/4 can be challenging if you solo. But G1/G2 is very doable if you know what you are doing. Even some G3 monsters like Astalos or Mizu are just practice. Tigrex or Glavenus in G4 are also very doable solo. Just memorize patterns that create openings and use your guard points on the right situations. The stagger control part helps against G3 monsters if you can get loops going
@locoghoul Thank you. I've managed to solo hyper silver rath a few times so far. Working on hyper jho and savage jho now. G5 and EX seems like a real challenge. These old games make world and rise seem like a joke. Edit: Just beat savage jho's incorporating your tips man, that turn around thing was clutch. Now I go out of my way to snipe the head as you say also, getting a lot more knocks. Excellent tips.
Yeah, mostly about the attacks and I didn’t know the best combos that you mentioned in the punishing part. So, basically the best attacks are aed and ed2 in regular play. Then, when the monster is downed and there is a chance, ed2->ripper shield->ed2 is the best combo, right?
@@MrSolarGhostLagi is my favorite monster and the Lagi CB is alright (prob top 5). But yeah mostly fashion for the video. Best CBs are (in order): Mantis, Akantor, Diablos
@@MrSolarGhostED2 wont come out after a ripper shield. You either do ED1 (single chop by pressing A) into AED or ED2 depending on your window. You could also just let the ripper shield animation finish and see if you can squeeze a morph axe > aed after. But it depends on the monster and timing really. The idea about punishes is to adapt to the scenario you have. You will realize you dont have time for the whole combo and do a shorter one instead

Thanks for the comment! I kept running into the same questions about GU CB because it plays different than 5th gen and 4th gen

Awesome video with clips demonstrating concepts at the perfect time. You can tell this vid was made with love
Thank you!! I am far from an expert but everything I know I had to learn the hard way. Figured it might help some if I put all the info together
Always love to see more MH Classic content. Cheers!
Really informative, the part on stagger control and attacking certain parts for topples is really helpful. Thank you!
Phenomenal guide

Valor kinda plays like pizza axe with better mobility
I really wish there was some kind of wiki to show what part trips when staggering, but i guess that's a part of learning monster knowledge

Epic voice and straight to the point. Lovely bruv

Amazing guide dude! Thanks for you i have improved my CB skills, congrats for your effort. Do you have some tips about i - frames?
Sadly is just practice. Depends on which move you are trying to too. I'd recommend practicing first with Narga's tailspin move
@@locoghoul ty man! I gonna try hard. Tailspin moves im good i guess, but screams and tremors, its so bad yet :'( . See ya!
cool guide even for an experienced cb player it was a nice watch with good tips. big boy combos for days!
Thanks for the feedback!
Cool guide!
Thanks, hope it was useful

How come you are using Lagi’s cb? Is it for fashion or because it is particularly good?

Can you tell me your transmogged armor set? Looks beautiful
Hylian Hood for helm, then the rest is just Guardian Suit X pieces (G rank). I think they match really well with Lagi CB
This was very helpful, thanks a lot 🫶🏻
