  • I am fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast looking for fossil sea urchins and ammonites. The October Half Term week has seen rough weather for fossil collecting, so i check the Lyme Regis beaches at low tide for fossil finds. There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in operation along the Jurassic Coast. I have been a Professional Fossil Hunter along the Jurassic Coast for many years. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs, the best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. If you are going to hammer one of the right little splitting rocks on the beach at low tide, then I recommend wearing safety equipment. Wear safety spectacles and sturdy gloves when using a geological hammer. I don`t hit flint and chert rocks often, as they shatter like glass with dangerous splinters. I have to see something good to my knowledge protruding out of the stone, to consider tapping a fossil out of flint or chert rock. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ------www.lymeregisfossilwalks.com There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in place along the Jurassic Coast. Our channel on TH-cam is called "Lyme Regis Fossils."#fossilhunter#ammonite#fossil

There seem to be some good spring tides coming up in April 2023 ! That looks a good time to hit the beaches at low tide looking for fossils . You can see what the Winter storms washed out onto the beaches ! 🙌

My husband and I each found a lovely small sea urchin Fossil on Monmouth beach last week (and some lovely ammonites and more on Charmouth's East Beach). What a fantastic place to beach comb!

That’s some excellent finds in a beautiful place along the Jurassic Coast. I always look forward to the fossil collecting at low tide along the beach West of Lyme Regis. I always soak my fossils in fresh water to get the salt out of them. I have a couple of fossil preparation videos in my playlists that might even help you on TH-cam 🙏

I love echinoids! In the last couple years they’ve been very common to me! They’re also some of my mum’s favourites!
