💯
Love is indeed the message
My dude kept the straightest face while shredding that guitar to pieces
05:23 :)
i know right, he's the opposite of Yussef as far as facial expressions
He looks like hes on a different leve of consciousness
No fucks given looool
My thoughts exactly lol
Im a drummer of 15+ years w/ a background in all ways of music. Only recently did I come across Yussef Dayes, and he's already one of my favorite drummers ever. He is simply one of the best I've heard. How smooth he plays such complex breaks with as much control as he has is one a kind. This is some of the best music out there. I got a kick out of watching Yussef smirking while playing, he knows this shit is magic. Mansur made that guitar speak in 10 different languages, Rocco is about as clean as they get on bass, and Alfa made me float in space with the keys. I never comment on TH-cam, I can make an exception for such greatness. I might be 4 years late, but this will forever be timeless.
💯💯
Absolutely. @7:00 or so I like to imagine Yussef was screwing with Rocco playfully with those little pauses, smirking at him knowing the magic was gonna keep flowing no matter what 😊 6:57
@@emmettron tbh I don’t think that was intentional, I do think he slipped up for just a beat. The hesitation he has gives me that feeling, everything Yussef does is calculated and that part felt like it wasn’t. They saved it and nobody can even notice. Geniuses
@@bigathadon either way I absolutely agree. Nothing like watching such talents effortlessly weaving oopsies into magic😄 I could watch these guys improv all damn day
It’s symphony
Forget a Grammy give these men a noble prize this shit is unbelievably good. I hit this song like coke 😂😂
It’s a masterpiece.
One of the best I've ever heard!!!
Why the reference to drugs, this is better than any drug ever conceived by man.......
the reference explains the addiction i had to playing this song so often.
Blazing!
That drummer was so deep in the pocket, he became the pocket itself
The drummer MAKES this track!! ...... All the FEEL is comin' outta that kit.
That kit is the etheric chord of the entire piece.
Hahaha! This made me crack up, but soooooooo true!...
it's 'bout the soul, the feeling and the suit
Yussef Dayes is a drumming gawd genius iconic legendary diety. What kills me EVERYTIME are the facial expressions *ha ha ha ha ha ha ha* . I thank The good Lord that I've heard his, and other gifted musicians', music in my life.
THIS BASS SOUNDS LIKE HOT FOOD IN WINTER
@wowowowowowow sort of. It’s one of the old Japanese ones made in FujiGen. It’s basically equivalent to a modern MIJ fender before those existed.
No doubt!
looool...yep!👍🙌😀
You eatin good bro, cause this fills me up too✌️
Comes with that last name.
Mansur is so calm, its like he is not playing....pure class 👌👌

I celebrate any human being that is listening to this.
Whenever life gets hard and I start buying the shit that all social media and news is saying about how life is supposed to be perceived I try too remember that our generation is the one to be creating this genius and utterly gorgeous soundscapes.
As my lovely grandmother used to say “hope is the last thing to die”.
Love is the message.❤
Your grandmother was a wise lady
I spread this vid all over social media
if you’re reading this, you have immaculate taste in music
Thanks for noticing.
thanks for the social validation, random stranger :o
Cheers, budday
Glad I did.
Thank you!
I love how Rocco just has the most innocent face as he's laying these sinful thumps impregnating future generations with off-beat funk progeny.
Roco.... he is a bassist from another world!!!
Lol
lmaoooo
@JackShore1 holy shit I didn't even notice
so true lol
Gotta shout out to the mixer who complimented every instrument perfectly

I mean yeah its only abbey road so I was quite surprised as well
Good acoustics for a road eh @@paullandais9717
The first time I heard this song, I was shooketh by Mansur's skills. Second time around, I could not believe how sublime and full of character is Rocco's baselines. I circled back again for the third time to focus on Alfa Mist's dreamy keyboard work-how consistent and complimentary it is. I noticed Yussef's drumming last- every snare, every movement is calcualted, carefully calibrated to lay the foundation for these passionate youngins to express. What a beatuiful piece of art this is!
@@MrKongatthegates why are you hating though. Rocco has great energy and is an extremely talented dude. Fr homie was feeling the music and you had to go trash the vibe.

Totally brother. Great catch.

agreed. He definitely VIBEd to whoever had the hot hands during the whole sequence.
Good editing as well. Whole package deal. Good pre-production, production, and post-production.

Will go down in history as one of the greatest performances ever captured on video. A truly mystical moment in music.
4 years later this masterpiece still gives me goosebumps 😪
AND 400 YEARS LATER TOO...
I confess, because this track I finally bought a drum kit at 36yrs old. Hoping to groove like this one day. Love this collaboration. Big up!
Mate, that's wicked, go for it, I know Youssef and just turned 40 and thinking the same! Can't help but be inspired a... One love
@@rslbits533 Plz give Yussef my regards. Man is talented and he’s my son and my favorite musicians. Respect ✊🏽
I Luv the 🥁 drummers beat & energy

@@natefreedman2972 indeed! My youngest son appears to be getting the hang of it quite fast along with being self taught. Yussef aside, my son is ultimately my true inspiration.
This is gonna sound cheesy but I don't care. This is one of the most powerful pieces of music I've ever heard. I keep coming back and EVERY time I tear up, I don't even know why. Maybe because of just how much energy this song has? The two crescendos are just immense and incorporate everything I love about music and being a musician. Even the interlude jam in the middle, its all on point and so cohesive. Sorry if it comes off as rambling, I just love this song so fucking much.
I hear you bro.
Ive been coming back to this over and over too, it lifts my soul everytime. I come to find i need it like prayer or meditation.
can relate !
Not cheesy. Heartfelt.
Man I hear you. I get goosebumps at every crescendo. This song is simply heavenly
one Squier bass and an Epiphone proving us this masterpiece. Low price does not mean low quality sound.
100% agree, it is in the mind and the soul…
this comment is so very underrated. I would upvote you a thousand times.
well this song performance and video surely was good enough for these guys to get top of the line instruments, but its true, a good painter can paint with crap, a bad painter can buy super expensive paint and end up with piles of shit
Yeah but let’s see how expensive all the pedals and amps are. Let’s see the price of the drums or those keys. The guitar itself is mostly just about how comfortable it is. I bet he’s got different pickups in it too.
@@digineet8421I get it. Both probably heavily modified. Still. They could afford expensive instruments and chose not to
bro on the guitar looks like hes not even thinking XD (its a compliment)

this drummer is fucking energy man, really challenging everyone in that room to push for more energy to come through, fuckin gorgeous
Yuseff Dayes is a genius, he change the game
Beautifully said
Mansur is the only guitarist besides Prince that left me in complete awe after a shred. Spectacular talent! And Yusuf mastery over the drums was *chef’s kiss* This entire composition is a masterpiece
Yeah Mansur has a very unique blend of chops and melodic sensibility, I'd say Prince is a pretty fair comparison
I agree
I loved how the camera floated around the room, approaching each musician at their highlights in the song. Well done camera team!
My son is three years old , he is autistic and he absolutely LOVES this song ....we listen to this every day . Thank you !!!
dan sebastian health and wealth to your family !
Might be on to something...Imagine music/play therapy using Yussef and Mansur's for healing "riddims."
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music ." F. Nietzsche .
@@dansebastian1067 Buy him an instrument!!!!
As someone on the spectrum, please get your kid into music real soon. Being good at music is one of the only areas where no one cares about such things. Shredding was the only reason I even remotely cool in highschool.
Mansur Brown meditating on his guitar
Yussef Dayes is experiencing ecstasy on his drum
And Alfa and Rocco just straight CHILLIN'
Lmao
I am starting a petition to get Mansur, Alfa Mist, and Dayes to do a USA tour. We need it!
AMEN
Its 2024 and this is still a classic. Do you think we could ever see them re-create this? Especially live. That would be AMAZING!!!!!!
The sound of God’s glory on earth penetrating the heart and soul. Love ❤ truly is the message. My favorite artist on one track. Blessed 🔥
It should be illegal to have a groove this sick.
This is vibratory contraband.
Indeed... as it brings some pure freedom in its way !
See what you mean, Almost like they frickin' cheated with something unique... There is a sound present throughout this masterpiece that is very NEW, and that hidden element fully carries the track to undebatable greatness. Like I can hear the secret sauce, but I just can't figure out WHAT THE HELL IT IS?!?!?! Love is the message, it is prolly a clue lol.
@@billyves1
Very true and it is a sound that will not get old.
Everytime I get a comment on this thread I'm going to take another hit!
@@JamesMPetro
Yeah! They tapped into something there. Just very original and unheard of.
@@liyahn2373 I quite liked your first "vibratory contraband" comment as you mentioned it 5 months ago - or, textually, "contrebande vibratoire" in French, since I somehow got the feeling you're French-(frog) yourself... - I noted it, found it was a sharp neat way of discribing the vibes out of it, a sort of trangressive freedom that one can happily get out and within. I'd add your "unheard of" (before, or yet) here, then now let's go for the "vibratory contraband unheard" but here discovered for our best high pleasure ;-).
In case you didn't already go there to dive within, Yussef Dayes's Trio (Yussef Dayes, Rocco Palladino great bass, Charlie Stacey on keyboart ) "Welcome To The Hills" live album was just upload yesterday : a true Xmas gift, a real burning kik, a necessary crave... and just a wonderfull moment to handle this damn lock down and get some joy throught this week end and on ever anytime. This has taken my taste in music to another place, i hear music differently now
This drummer is out of this world, at one point he breaks it down it sounded like a Dilla beat 🔥
Cold Blooded 🥶
Dilla is one of his influences 💯
Sure thing
I haven't made a stank face this intense since the Lingus solo from Snarky Puppy. Sheesh this is amazing
haha, right with you on that one mate :D
Yeah Corey Henry
Hahahaha, bro. Exactly my thought.
Mansur Brown playing so nonchalant that it’s priceless
I can legit play this whole performance in my head. That's how many times I've listened to it.
Me too even when I Play it while sleeping I hear it
Me too aha
I can’t stop coming back to this almost 4 years later, absolute virtuosic level performance by everybody involved. The chemistry and mutual respect, everybody’s tone and playing style compliments each other so well. Everything about this is so top tier primo. I’m coming from an absolutely spot on cover by mr @Sam Monty . If anybody sees this I recommend you go and check out his cover, he deserves some for his dedication
@Chris Dorsett, Right On! I'll throw one back at ya, these cat's from Hungary, Mike Gotthard Electric Shock these dude's are in the pocket too! Check it YT link: th-cam.com/video/ZsBRZDBAoAo/w-d-xo.html
Yussef and Alfa are like the sun and moon, omnipresent and covering the sonic spaces at all times, the main structural tenants of the music. Rocco is the Earth, where his lines and fills are like waves crashing and rock shifting. Mansur is like a comet or shooting star, a spectacle hard to ignore, and easily soars above the entire ensemble like a phoenix
This is a damn good description if I ever heard one.
That was beautiful man
Agreed
Colin McGregor is like an Oracle accurately describing feelings that people felt but couldn't find words for.
That description is perfect m8 how do you do it i suck with words
Mansur’s tone is absolutely ridiculous. And he rocks that corduroy jacket just as hard as his guitar.
His whole energy is other worldly. He has that Badu, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, type of energy. Throw in Andre3000. Man I hope like hell he does a tour in the US and come to Oakland. I will spend my retirement money if I have to in order to see the Bruv play live!
Crazy true
Does anybody have a clue what goes into such a beautiful tone?
@@jooolius And he's not even playing a Gibson
@@jooolius I think chorus , delay, a pitch shifter and some distortion and some reverb
Mansur Brown is a new name to me but the best jazz guitar l have heard for years. As for the rest of them, l knew what to expect. So great to hear jazz taken out of the museum and made fresh again. As a lifelong jazz fan I am thrilled to find young people doing this and generating an audience. Wherever there is great jazz there is civilisation. Just think of all the places it doesn’t go (Mar a Lago, The Kremlin, Jacob Rees Mogg) and you get the point
I feel like I listen to this once a month to get my spiritual synergy back
Rocco Palladino is built for this. Playing like his pops.
No doubt
Absolutely
Oh wow... he's Pino Palladino's son?
Damn, makes sense.

Rumor has it that Yussef actually reached God form with his drumming but he had to revert back to his mortal form just to be able to play with everyone else.
I'm a drummer and this song brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it
Who else listens to this daily?
We do! Used to listen to this on the way to the gig.
Can't help myself anymore.
Fukken me

Yup, me too.
Mansur's face while playing should be called "The playing like a pro face". LOVE THIS!!
And it's like he's not even trying hard. Lol
Effortless. 👍🏽
you must mean the black dude playing the guitar? i dont like jazz but there is so much to draw you in here.. i know this isn't really jazz but it is to someone like me - untrained absolute.
Not musicians, magicians. Yussef & Rocco are from another dimension. I’m convinced. Love this music. All of their collection.
Magician is accurate
It’s too easy for Mansur. For the first half of the song he’s stone cold. And man this must be the greatest guitar solo ever performed, and not without due recognition to the rest of the band for their amazing playing which added so well to the solo.
God just keeps blessing me with these hidden jewels of audio art pieces
yup. this is a blessing to hear. thats why "LOVE IS THE MESSAGE". God is love! This is probably playing in Heaven.

Somewhat 4+ years later and I still can’t stop listening and loving this masterpiece!!🔥🕺🏾Hands down one of the greatest
For the past month or so, nothing I listen to sounds as good as this.
I'm in love with y'all. Jazz hasn't sounded so good in years.
At this point that's not just jazz anymore, it is musical sex
thats not really jazz i think...
@@iamtheaudiophile I think the scales used are very close to those used in jazz at some moments (listen to the chords played by alfa mist or the solo of Mansur Brown) and most important, there is a big part of improvisation as there is in jazz. But whatever, we don't really care if it is jazz or not, as long as it is incredible music
@@kitege15 i think its a mix of jazz funk and fusion
@@kitege15 btw i really love this masterpiece
The music is great but I have to give it up the cameraman for moving in a fluid rhythm to each of the players. Nice.

I found it end of September 2018, had around 50000 views then I believe :)
I really don't know how many tears I shed over this record. It's absolutely everything to me...just absolute magic! These insane musicians (in the best sense of the word) combined with the crisp recording are the fucking definition of music! I am full of gratitude
Mansur Brown is so underrated. Sonically, this song is untouched by anything I've heard in recent years.
A real jam session, with all the ingredients: a formidable guitarist, an effective and sober bassist, a drummer with a rhythm that fills the scene and keyboards that accompany a superlative group.

That Yussef has the most unique drumming style...
( Yes, the guy tearing up his instrument, while looking chill, is equally so unusual - they all can do all this in their sleep - years of practice and fortunate circumstances, such as starting to play very early!
What the hell just happened?

Yussef one of my new favourite drummers...dude is so tight on the snares and hi-hats...the rhythm that flows through his body and precision and transitions ufffff out of this world....combine that with the talent of Rocco on bass, Mansur on guitar and Alfa on the keyzzz...
His touch is so fine, and the pocket is great. Great combo. Beautiful tune, too.
I love this because each player has his own room to groove. That’s what I think relationships should be about. Divided I stand. Together we groove. But give my space and time!❤️😊

I agree that it's very hard to tell who's playing better/leading here. All four are essential. They showed up and casually redefined modern jazz. Snap!
Impossible to not to come back to this video. The TH-cam version sounds even better than the Spotify one. It's a shame that they haven't released an entire LP. Could have been the jazz album of our time.
PS. I still can't decide whether they made an error at 7:01 or just reached peak immortality.
tbh I'm kinda jealous on my friends, which are gonna listen to this masterpiece for the first time high on mushrooms next week in the forest! One of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard. I also started playing drums after hearing Yussef for the fist time.

A computer couldn't fathom the amount of soul in this track
