    I've found these are great for just getting the hose out of the way as you mentioned. When I'm doing a quick clean or colour change it's often easier to disconnect the hose so I can handle the brush more easily. If I need to run some cleaner though the brush reconnecting it is a doddle.

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes , it’s definitely great when you want to do a quick clean and also a complete pull apart ‘deep clean’ 👍🏻

    I've recently added these, along with the water traps you mentioned, on both my airbrushes. And, my connector has a built in regulator, which is very convenient. I've become a firm believer in minimizing all of the "fiddly" little tasks you can when learning to airbrush. The process of airbrushing itself is fiddly enough. LOL

    Been tempted to go w q-ds at the ab side, have some HS disconnects that have never been installed on the ab’s.. Spent a lot of money on lightweight “handy” ab’s; so have stuck with a couple of manifolds, w some of the hoses setup with their own regulators. The q-ds are at the manifold end of the airlines, screwed onto ab’s end. Manifolds are just to the right of the spray booth which is on a standing height spray booth table, very quick/easy to get to if need be. The ab’s are all on a couple of shop built racks/holders above the manifolds. Run the manifolds off of a 3/4” looped-line copper line from a shop-wide CA Tools 60g w air dryer (it gets used for other things in the shop as well). No surge worries ;-) and no pressure drop worries if multiple simultaneous users. Did install chemical air dryers where the lines come in from/exit back to the hot/cold shop (Dallas) into the 7/24 HVAC side of the workspace. Have a 2 regulator Iwata tank compressor (and a few non-tanked, everybody collects compressors right? Just like routers) that gets used from time to time when we don’t want to turn on the big compressor. The Iwata tank-comp is what got us started doing q-ds on the compressor/manifold side. Yeah, downside is, good braided lines do add up $$. Just sharing, As always YMMV.

    Great video. Not had much luck with the generic quick releases, the quality of the can be really variable I think. Yes they are cheap enough but I've had a couple that have laster literally days!! So much so that when I first started I was hunting round for an O-ring which I'm sure had dropped off either the male end or from the female end. At one point I even thought my airbrush had become clogged as it was splattering paint, once I turned off the extractor fan and the compressor itself I could hear the air leaking from the damn quick connect. I guess if you get lucky the generic connectors might be OK, for me, they're just junk.

    Thanks for the video. What is the name of that connector type in the bottom of the hub @ 3:16? I need adapter for that type of the connector since my hose connector does not match it.

    Are the miniature inline moisture traps a good investment if you are using one of the USB rechargable portable compressors to airbrush with?

    Cool video, I just brought an air brush setup, got the creos 270, also got a quick connect and braided hose. problem with living in NZ is getting hold of paint. I've looked for everything there is one store that sells trident but they only deal in 250mls :( wish it was more accessible here I ordered some cheapo ones from amazon in the meantime.

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome you’ll be happy with the Creos great brushes, shame about the trident 250ml colours in NZ as I was going to say they have a distributor, if they do the sets then grab a Tru8 250ml set as they are great value and have a great variety of colours . 👍🏻

      @@AirbrushAsylum hey thanks for the reply, I managed to get in touch with them and there is only 2 tru8 sets in the county and pretty reasonably priced at 266 +shipping so I will probably grab that this Wednesday. Thanks for having some great content to help ease people into airbrushing. I watched loads of videos on which airbrushes were good and decided on the 270 to get a good thin lines for detailing, the compressor I got came with a cheap airbrush but has yet to arrive I figured I'd use that for base coating things. Top notch content 11/10

    I use the manifold connection as I have only four airbrushes was more cost effective as each brush came with a hose and the male connector come in a six pack from my local automotive store. This way each brush can a different needle and tip

    The standard for these plugs is called nw2.7
    You can buy better connectors for reasonable prices, other than these cheap china fittings, that start leaking relatively fast.

      My cheap quick-connect starting leaking almost from day one, when I wiggle the hose around. I really just need to replace it with a quality one!

  • @bravensbull4405

    Very timely. My only question is are they standardized or universal between brands or only outfit all with one brand? Only asking considering all the cheap and quality in the market

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some brands may vary but I have used all the following brands (mixed up) iwata, Sagola and the cheaper option (shown) unfortunately I can’t guarantee if all cheaper models are the same I would still recommend keeping the sets together if you can , or buy one complete set and then just the male adaptors for each brush which aren’t that expensive 👍🏻

    While I enjoy and learn from your videos, I have to say “huh” on this last one! Yes, I run a quick connect and yes I like the little moisture trap at the airbrush... but, but, but BOTH are on my hose! Why in world would put the little moisture trap on the airbrush side and not the hose side where it will work for all your brushes? Is there something I’m not considering?

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s funny you say that and thanks for your comment, I tried about three different female brands of quick connects and attempted just that and all failed the only way it worked for me was to set it up in the way shown in the vid. I agree it would be awesome if it would work like that, but I don’t think the trap would be as effective even if you got it to work the other way . 🤔👍🏻
