The video's description had a better story than any of the games they played (except legendary...maybe) haha XD I'm totally going to vote for *The Cove!*
Oh man, I fucking loved Legendary! It's not the best game in the world, but it has a load of unique ideas. It's one of those games that desperately needs a good reboot.
That game was the SHIT when I was 12 xD it's way longer than they played too, if they played the entire campaign then they would actually owe Spoole money instead of the other way around
Oh no I wasn't meaning that in a bad way, it was just a lot easier to overlook flaws in a game when I played it at a younger age. I really loved the whole premise behind it too :)
Oh no I wasn't meaning that in a bad way, it was just a lot easier to overlook flaws in a game when I played it at a younger age. I really loved the whole premise behind it too :)
Loftty OG Yea there are a lot of good games for cheap with steam sales and charity bundles. I got a long list of good star wars games for cheap. It's just a matter of patience and picking the right time to get a game.
Well.. Gmod is a cheap game and I still have a lot of fun. FNAF is a cheap game and look the audience there is behind it. I think it depends. Some cheap games suck as well as some expensive games totally suck.
You guys are doing awesome things, just wanted let you guys know. Also this video was putting off a really cool MST3K vibe and it's fantastic! Keep up the good work, and thank you!
Skyrim: 500 hours World of Warcraft: 3k+ hours DayZ: 1k+ hours League of legends: 2k+ hours Minecraft: ?? 500 seems about right. Chivalry Medieval Warfare: 100 hours Yeah most games I play(ed) have been worth my money. (I guess WoW is a bit different cause subscription but definetly played more than 13 hours a month:D) Btw thats a total of 7100. That is the equivalent of 3,4 years of fulltime work. (7100/2080=3,413). Don't become me people. Don't waste your lives like that.
Because of low views on the show Art Haus, the team is thinking on canceling it, so here goes the message: Don't cancel the show! Listen Funhausers, you are all gonna watch this video, if you don't like it, at least mute it while it plays on the background, I know it's a stupid idea :/ but the show's f-cking awesome AND some artists can be recognised :)
You guys are the perfect group for gameplay commentary, a genre which has recently been acknowledged by South Park. I enjoy watching and you make everyday life a lot bit easier to cope with.
I did some cost analysis on a gaming thread on Reddit and everyone started accusing me of being some weird guy named "Spoole." I was so confused. Anyway, if understand this "bet" correctly, you have it wrong. $1 per 1 hour is a good thing to shoot for in a game. If it goes over that, then it's starting to get a little expensive. Games that do that can exist, there's no rule that they can't. It's just that they're probably not worth buying unless it's some kind of really, really good, emotional, story-based, classic, indie game that you can't watch someone else play on TH-cam.
I bought Legendary a few years back and had only ever played it for a few minutes, recently I had thought about going back to it to give it another chance but noticed the mixed reviews and decided against it. Thank you for convincing me further that not playing Legendary was the right answer, I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun playing it myself as I did watching you guys play it.
Legendary was really creative for what it was. The best part of it, in my opinion, was how most of the monsters had to be killed in specific ways; it stayed true to most of the lore and made the game somewhat creative. Don't get me wrong though, everything else sucked balls.
Now that is a good idea, I would like that for a series :) Also, surprised with Legendary. For 49 cents it looks awesome, maybe deserves a series of it's own :P Although I was hoping for all of the Chrome games in a series.
It's been near a decade and I always thought spooles 1 dollar 1 hour made sense. Most 9 to 10 hour main campaign games I played never felt worth 60 dollars. Its mostly open world and games with replayability that easily go beyond 60 hours if you enjoy it. I'd have to have the time of my life to enjoy the thought of paying 60 bucks for a 9 hour game that doesn't have any replayability factors. Spoole was just given a impossible task to get quick cheap games to fit in a video. Plus it's a good gag joke.
I really like this new sub series you have created I think you should keep it up with spool actually having to pay you guys back the money lost based on his theory of $1 per hour and cap each game at $1 or less to give him an incentive. But great start loving every minute of it!
All kidding aside, Spool does have a point. You should get at least a certain amount of time out of games, and one dollar per hour doesn't sound that bad (and proves some AAA titles are overpriced for what you get).
97aventador The game is actually terrible.. The concept is super cool, with opening pandoras box in a city like new york, but thats about it. Gameplay sucks, AI is dumb, and story is dumb as well. I actually bought it day one when it first came out, full price $60. I literally traded it in a hour later. It was that bad. Ive never done that before then, or since then. And i give games a chance and actually love many games people think are terrible. For example, I love Brink, and its honestly in my top 3 in FPS games.
I liked seeing spoole in a gameplay video and I think this would be a cool idea for a show. Legendary might also be a cool game to play through, but whatever you do it'll be awesome. You guys are hilarious and you always put out great content so I'll leave thinking of new shows and content to you.
Americans continuing to pay $60 and think they're getting ripped off. American gamers should have been paying $80 a gamer years ago. The rest of the world pays their fair share and sometimes even double, yet America still continues to pay peanuts for their games. America paying $60 a game is one factor in why developers and publisher ripped us off with DLC and season passes. If you only paid that extra $20 a game it would be better for all us gamers in the long run. UK pay an extra £10-15 a game and rest of Europe are paying more then we were 7 years ago.
***** It's funny cause I think an American game got charged $80 not too long ago and everyone got so livid with them because it was $20 above the usual sale price. I have no problem buying games as long as they're worth it in the end, which is why I make sure that if I'm going to buy a game, that I have a solid interest in that game.
Other countries are paying more because their value of a dollar is lower than the United States. It is not in order to pay the developers more, but in order for developers to still make money distributing the games in your regions.
Lots of people are posting about how they've played games for hundreds of hours, but in this series, they play for one session until they get bored. If they got a $60 game, they would have to sit there and play 60 hours straight to make it worth it. So, Spoole has to try and find super cheap games designed to be played once.
Oh shit i remember that Legendary game lol Uberhaxornova streamed that and ripped on the game a long time ago haha it was pretty cool though actually :D
I don't know why they're bashing Spoole for him wanting to gets his bucks worth of content. It's a good consumer mentality, a game that lasts around 5 hrs and has no replay value or any reason to get some more hrs out of it, should not be priced the same way as a game like lets say Witcher 3 or Skyrim, where you can get hundreds of hrs. There is no overview, they just price games like that because it's the standards, well I've seen games at 30 bucks with more content than most 60 dolla ones. Then again, the price is so high because consoles are still a thing, can't believe how much they're dragging down gaming. Imagine a world where there are no shitty retailers pre-order bullshit or no extra taxt for the digital versions. I still don't understand why they get the same price, digital should always be cheaper, even at release. Retail should be considered like a collector's edition.
Cri354 I think the main problem with his theory of a dollar per hour is that the developers of some games would then make no money if they adopted it. I mean Games that took a lot of money to make like The Last of Us (main example I can think of) is around 13 hours...so his dollar per hour thing would not be useful for the company. It's probably because his idea is too extreme in most cases.
Cri354 On the other hand, I've played games that weren't $1 to 1 hour, but I still felt like I got my money's worth out of it in enjoyment and the experience.
Cri354 I didn't mention Gone Home. I've honestly never played it. Gone home was not what I was thinking of, however. I paid $50 for Wolfenstein: The New Order when it first came out, and got far more than $50 of enjoyment out of it, but according to Steam I only have 34 hours in-game. Still worth the $50 I paid for it, however.
brawler1z Not if a well made (and appropriately priced) game gives you a lot of bang for your buck and allows a great variety of play options...and thus more and more replay options.
MrLego3160 then you still got your moneys worth, this system doesnt mean that if you dont get the full time then the game wasnt worth it it just means that if you did get the full hours or over then the game was probably worth it.
Sengial Holding indie titles to the same standard as those with high production value simply isn't fair, however. I will admit I impart the same philosophy, but only when it comes to interactive forms of media. I'm doing more than sitting and observing, therefore I should be getting my money's worth. (Whether or not one considers books to be interactive media is neither here nor there.) I frankly haven't heard of a better way to calculate the value of a video game, specifically AAA titles.
All jokes aside, the $1 = 1 hour thing is a pretty great thing to go by. But it's just a guideline, not an end-all-be-all rule. There will be exceptions to the rule, but I know I've regretted any purchases I've made that didn't meat that guideline. Anything that exceeds it, though, is amazing.
Spoole has toked so hard that he has reached a new level of enlightenment, "1 dollar 1 hour" is the most brilliant comment I have ever heard about any topic.
Wow a blast from the past, I remember Legendary fresh from the box, the game was mindblowing, then I see you guys playing it and i'm like "...wtf is wrong with me?"
If I could hit a reset button and go back a few years to redo and re experience funhaus I would.
And I wouldn't think twice
Same brother

Im being quite serious here. Legendary actually does'nt look so bad.
I mean for 50 cents.

I wouldn't mind them playing legendary again.
I actually played it back on xbox 360, it was okay, i did enjoy it.
Did it come out for the ps3 ?
Yes it did.

maikai196 Yep
maikai196 yup, a full 60$ retail game
maikai196 Yep. I was about to say that because it looked too good to be some .50 cent indie game.
VampireKingRyan 'Good' ofcourse being a relative term.
Babooshka00 Of course.
So this is where Ryan’s Bargain Bin came from. I miss the original gang
And now it's spooles bargain bin so Adam's dreams eventually came true
Yeah i caught that title drop too lol

I'm totally going to vote for *The Cove!*
I've gotten thousands of hours of gameplay out of a free game before.
Suck it, Legendary.
Dirty bomb
6 years later and "spooles bargain bin" became "ryans bargain bin" @12.44
I paid £25 for Football manager 2015, and i've played around 760 hours in that, so i think that's pretty good value for money

I'm picturing Spoole as a financial adviser. The company would just tank to the bottom of the earth.
Legendary has surprisingly nice graphics and animations for a 50 cents game
it's $5 normally, they got it 90% off
Still though. There are 20-30$ games that look like utter shit

EeDymonNij Gmod is never too boring, you can do anything in there
EeDymonNij FNaF is cheap as in it's lazy, shoddy and shit.
EeDymonNij Gmod is amazing because of it's versatility... I literally have 694 hours logged... That's a lot of Spool bonus

Free games = infinite bonus hours
Nicholas Pine free games =99% shit.
But it's free shit
Merlinose dota-hearthstone-tf2...
Merlinose Path of Exile and TF2. You can easily sink hundreds of hours in them.
Elia Mphasseb League+heroes of the storm, maybe war thunder+heroes and generals if you prefer such games. But thats less than 1% , most f2p are crap.

I have been watching these episodes for a while now and that plug and play was awesome!!!
yes but its not a game you actively play you just play it once and it's an experience
Plug and play is like the human centipede

The point is you DON'T pay the full 60 then, you get it on sale.
TheStanishStudios D=8
Jon Stepanenkov 8=D
No Elder Scrolls?
Jon Stepanenkov RPG, strategy etc. genres can easily be 60 hours long.
The good days
HAHAHAHAH THATS ALSO MY PHILOSOPHY
Sengial but what if a $15 game lasts 10 hours, but you had a real good time during those hours?
If you had such a good time you'd probably play it again
MrLego3160 then you still got your moneys worth, this system doesnt mean that if you dont get the full time then the game wasnt worth it it just means that if you did get the full hours or over then the game was probably worth it.
Sengial Holding indie titles to the same standard as those with high production value simply isn't fair, however.
I will admit I impart the same philosophy, but only when it comes to interactive forms of media. I'm doing more than sitting and observing, therefore I should be getting my money's worth. (Whether or not one considers books to be interactive media is neither here nor there.)
I frankly haven't heard of a better way to calculate the value of a video game, specifically AAA titles.
Indy games have to be held to the same standard, that's why they're usually cheaper
I'm actually in love with Plug & Play, something about its weird and random gameplay amuses me and I really enjoy it
Good to see the whole gang on youtube again, just hoping adam and bruce will make another gaming news video :)
plug n play is actually a really important game to me like its all abt codependency and shit
but at the same time its real funny
It's my birthday today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please continue this series. I really enjoyed it.
These old ones... going back to watch them FINALLY clears up the mystery on what "1 Dollar 1 Hour" means.
I am satisfied.

your time is valuable and money is money. thats the kind of concise and timeless quote i can get behind
14:22 My middle name is Deckard. Does that count? Blade Runner was one of my dads favorite movies.
The Cove.
Enjoyed the show, I like that you guys try new things.
Plug and Play was hilarious and enourmously entertaining to watch you guy play.
Spoole has toked so hard that he has reached a new level of enlightenment, "1 dollar 1 hour" is the most brilliant comment I have ever heard about any topic.
Good job Spoole on your new segment, big fan.
"while we do allow general axe talk, please keep it specific to the axe that appears in Legendary." - fucking gold
