I had two hives this year, the first was a package from GA, calm as could be, no protection required, but they were very lazy, even replaced the queen from the same vendor. Then I purchased a Nuc from a local PA beekeepers, no way I could work that hive or even get too close at times without all of the gear on, but they worked like crazy and produced three brood boxes and one super (all 8-frame medium) even gave the package bees 1-1/2 frames of brood and 1-1/2 frames of honey. Had to merge the package to the Nuc colony, waiting for spring to split the Nuc. Would be nice to just change the syrup jar without suiting up.
628DirtRooster That's the kind of friend you want to have! I've got to admit I have good friends who I do skill swapping and bartering with, I need to find me a bee keeper!
Enjoying this video shelling sweet peas and snapping pole beans after admiring the work of the bees in my garden. Central Minnesota? Hey, how far from St Cloud? I'm 45 min. 🤣🤣🤣
628DirtRooster No man, If i get sting in had for example it gets swollen big time, I cant move my hand and fingers. If i would get that around my face i would probably die. Anyway keep up good job !
I absolutely love watching your video's. You crack me up. I love me a good ol Country boy. That honey looks so yummy. Have you ever eaten honey comb??? I have always wanted to try it. I love your channel!! Keep up the good work! You're awesome! -Angela from Ocala, FL.
HI Guys I have been watching your video over a year now and they have helped me so much getting start. I wanted to give a little tip I found last year on uncapping the honey frames get a cheap heat gun from Harbor Freight to open the caps there is all most no mess open ever cap. It’s very fast doesn’t damage the comb as bad try it one time I think you will be hooked like I was . Thanks you for all your great videos I have enjoyed them a lot. Jerry from VA
Randy, I am retired from beekeeping because of back problems. But, I have a question from my beekeeping days. Where I am located, our main flow comes beginning in late June and ends late in July when it is very hot. Always worked suited up with the result that my back was dripping wet. The bees loved it. I invariably had a thick mat of bees coating my back. I attributed this to salt in my sweat since otherwise the bees had easy access to nearby water. I wonder whether it might be a good idea to add salt to a tub of water? Most animals need some salt. Why not bees? Any ideas or experiences with this?
Hi again, I was wondering about the A/C room or dehumidified room? What is the real benefit of doing that? I know.... a real newbie question but.....gotta ask. LOL Thanks for all your videos I love them and find them great for information and at times a good laugh!
+John Rideout If the moisture content of honey is too high it will ferment. Keeping it open in a dehumidified room helps insure that your honey is safe to bottle and sell.
Too much cranking! That's why the good lord gave us the 1/2 corded drill. I bought a manual extractor and went for my drill by the second set of frames. Tried cordless but they don't freewheel after the trigger is released.
Question: what was that tool you use to uncap the honey frames? Also will the honey drain out of the frame with just gravity if you left it long enough?
I don't have any hives, thinking about it, this was one of the best videos I've seen on over all hive management and collecting honey. How about bottling and selling?
She starts wearing moo moos and house shoes and just kinda lets herself go. ;) Once mated they "swell up" a bit as they produce eggs and begin laying. Virgins are usually skinnier.
idk how smoke bees taste, never smoke any. Budweiser make the best smoke he hee / get a hit off that smoker / make bees so docile its a trip i love the dark honey best
I use a stiff turkey feather to flick them off with. They don't mind that at all. The Brush, yes.
Always nice watching.
Right on

Nice to see you helping and educating new bee keepers. Your commentator needs to slow down and pay attention.
"Must be using that cheap smoke." Hahaha
Some people are always cutting corners.
watching does videos makes me calm somehow and happy.
Im alergic to bees, wasps, hornets and other things probably. I couldnt do those thing myself.
Sure you could. Just takes determination.
628DirtRooster No man, If i get sting in had for example it gets swollen big time, I cant move my hand and fingers. If i would get that around my face i would probably die. Anyway keep up good job !
I get the impression that bee keeping can be great exercise!
Especially when extracting honey.
when you smoke bees, how do you get them to stay in the papers?
+charles dilmore LOL You have to use sticky paper.
oh, ok… lol
628DirtRooster good to know
Use a pipe
Use a grinder 😉😤
Hahaha. "Just changin the oil in the bee hives"
Got to or the warranty expires.
Dirt, that looked like a hot job. OMG was that an Old Elcameo in that garage ? Need to get the cover off that bad boy & show it off !

+Jesse Cooley Thanks for watching Angela. I eat comb on a regular basis.
i love this guy because hes afraid to be stung
What do you do with the frames after emptying out the honey... do you put them back in the hive to be cleaned up and rebuilt?
Usually set them out for the bees to clean up and then put them in storage until needed again.
628DirtRooster Bees do you freeze the frames once cleaned up? How do you store them till needed?
This video was so very informative, ty for this.

Yes they do love salt and I occasionally add a little when I'm mixing feeder water.

Nice to watch and the comments you all make thanks for this cheers
Naked bee keeping LOL. No, I don't wanna gag all them girls. Make em all sick lookin at me.
Question: since the bees crawl around on the outside of the nuc;s don''t you want to use non toxic coatings even on the outside?
Too much cranking! That's why the good lord gave us the 1/2 corded drill. I bought a manual extractor and went for my drill by the second set of frames. Tried cordless but they don't freewheel after the trigger is released.
what was the water content of this honey? Looks like a great fun day out by all
Question: what was that tool you use to uncap the honey frames? Also will the honey drain out of the frame with just gravity if you left it long enough?
It doesn’t drain well. A lot would be left in the cells. On this app I can’t tell what video you’re looking at. There are lots of uncapping tools.
628DirtRooster Bees thanks again 😊👍
I don't have any hives, thinking about it, this was one of the best videos I've seen on over all hive management and collecting honey. How about bottling and selling?
Got a few with that but can't remember which ones. Older ones.
im new to the channel and beekeeping. can you please explain exactly what "brood" is
It's the baby bees (eggs and larvae) developing inside the wax combs.
Good times!
You said it!
route a 3 ft rope at the base of the handle on the crank shaft .
Hold end of rope to spin .
You get 3-500 more rpm's
Great video, thanks!
+The Abled Gardener Chuck is a fun guy to hang out with.
It sounds like it!
Great boxes , frames ...
yeeeeeeh a Chuck video.. :) :) :) even if it is a bit old hahaha
When they gather on the side of the hive, does that mean they are about to swarm?
Sometimes they do that when it's really hot or humid. It's called bearding.
"I ain't ever killed a box of bees with smoke"
Me neither
Yo, yo, Yo, pretty hives.
"Its dead, cuz ya know, it died "
probably been asked before but is that an el camino covered up in the garage?
I think it was a 79 Z28
Smoke sweat and honey? What kind a smoke are you using ? Maybe I will come down there to help you.
Pine straw smoke
How does chuck not lose his queens? Pull a brood frame and set it on the ground...
LOL I guess they know to hang on.
... makes me want to go an drink some honey now.
I keep some with me most of the time.
Whew! That's a lot of work. Great rewards though :)
They are hard work but only a few days a year usually.
Your channel is cool
+Speedey Gonzales Thank you much Speedey.
+jerry archer That's what I do. It yields much cleaner honey and virtually no cob damage, so the girls can get to fillin' them again.
Rich Booth The Chi Pro Uncapper
Could you take that handle off and use a drill to spin the honey out??
Not without a one way clutch.
Ummmm why brush them off and place them back in the same box where the bees are already
Sweet.
Wet shirt not doing much humid!
when u say a mated queen. ..how can you tell she's mated. .?
She starts wearing moo moos and house shoes and just kinda lets herself go. ;)

YUMMMMMM!
"yes mother"
Hey
hold the camera steady!
I’m sure it’s ok to smoke them but don’t smoke them to much you might suffocate them on the smoke.
It only slows them down for a few seconds.
Every time he says super I think of the super classes in Java (programming not coffee).
Side or arm? Roflmao
it's corn kill regrow
Subway and monster ads? You really drink that monster crap?
And, how do those hives vent with the lids setting flat on box?
Quit drinking monsters a couple of years ago.
