@@ms_cartographer that may increase inflation. They increased min wage in my country, that same month govt increased taxes and removed subsidies. Next time we go into a fast food place & don’t have patience, are rude or unkind because our order is messed up , remember the 1st lady in this documentary. She works 2 jobs, 18 hours, lacks sleep, gets paid below minimum wage, lives in a motel with her kids yet she shows up to work every day, and loves her jobs. It should be illegal to break shifts into part time jobs to avoid paying health insurance. It should also be mandatory to employ people full time when there is enough work in a company. And obviously pay a living wage. Dunkin donuts and McDonald’s can afford it. Just like Walmart.
It’s not about what folks are paid. People are paid more than ever in America, it’s the fact that housing is overpriced and that’s almost everyone’s biggest expense. There’s so much demand and too little supply in housing. We have to start building much much more. You bring prices down and it won’t matter what you make as much.
@@hanswurst2497 that’s typical throughout history and that’s why investments stocks/ 401k/ pensions and social security exist because salaries generally cant and don’t keep up with inflation. The more you raise wages, the more prices will rise, people will forever be chasing their tails. The answer is to fix supply vs demand. Create an abundance of supply= demand drops= prices drop, and stop treating housing as an investment, walla you’ve solved the problem this video represents.

Homelessness & Finance: A costly housing market often contributes to homelessness. Tackling affordable housing and promoting financial literacy can help prevent this crisis.
@davedelva True, the idea of a portfolio-coach used to sound generic, but a new study by investopedia actually found that demand for portfolio-coaches sky-rocketed by over 41.8% since the pandemic and based on firsthand encounters, I can say for certain their skillsets are topnotch, I've raised over $900k from an initially stagnant reserve of $250K all within 14months.

Depends on the 3-rd world country in question - some poor countries are very bad cuz tax rates are high despite the low income, but in some you can live normally with a very low wage because income taxes are really low too. Like for example in Bolivia the income and sales tax are twice lower than the corporate tax. Not the case in reaganist monopoly worshiping America though - the income tax is twice as high as the corporate tax. Basically they tax the poor the most, and wonder why more people are getting poor? Its ridiculous!
I'm from the Netherlands and I really had no idea this was going on in America. there is always an appearance about how good it is there! incomprehensible and moved that this is happening among working people!🥺
Unfortunately and administration that doesn't care about the little man was elected into office and keeping themselves rich with money and power is all that matters to them. This doc was made in the big cities. Fortunately, small towns and the Midwest of the US are more affordable even though not as easy as it used to be.
It's also amazing how some people blame one political party! There are homeless EVERYWHERE in the U.S. and it's been happening for decades. U.S. of Despair is what it will soon be named. Watch us crumble with the Ds and Rs steering us into oblivion as they profit from it.
Germania is a warrior. I have SO much admiration for her. I don’t know how she does it. $8 an hour is an insult. The minimum wage he in the UK is $13 an hour. It’s not much more but it IS more. Plus we have free healthcare. I hope with all my heart that Germania manages to attain her dream of becoming a paediatric doctor. She really deserves it.
Remember you can eat with 5 $ a day in the US. It's quite cheap. Her rent is killing her . People in the us used to make 4.55 an hour and still managed to live well. Groceries for the month was 20$ . The dollar lost a lot of purchasing power

This isn't really an issue of the government not paying enough tho. It's an issue of the government not employing enough regulations that protect people from predatory capitalism. In the US people can get fired within 1 or 2 days. That creates massive insecurities. Unions have been destroyed, payment has not nearly kept up with living cost. The government doesn't have to spend tons of money. It has to tame capitalism and corporate greed so that the middle class isn't being bled out as it is currently happening. Problem is people instantly scream "COMMUNISM!!!!" whenever any politician tries any of that.
I just ran into your documentary, I am just one person but when I treat my grandson to a McDonald’s, I always slip a $5.00 bill cash into the cashier hand. Anyone who is a loving and responsible mother; works 18-hour days; and still puts heart and soul into a minimum wage jobs? She is an absolute gem, should be instantly clocked by her employers, and be treated as the jewel she is.
It absolutely blows my mind how a person living in poverty in a tent can still be unconditionally proud of the country doing this to him and his family.
Country did not do anything. People need to stop complaining being raised in the first world country. Getting through High School is FREE in the US. Then you have hundreds of great universities where people from around the world dream about. You have FAFSA if you are low income.. or you can get a loan and graduate with a STEM degree to land a great career. People did not worked hard when they had to and they have to now.
@@prasmitdevkota4251 germany gives free higher education, tutition in spain can be 1,000 yearly. Some public institutions are free. Denmark, Norway, Sweden also offer high education for free or minimal costs. Fafsa only goes so far. You have to be really closed minded and sheltered to think the US does it best. Also keep in mind not everyone is in a circumstance to be able to go to college. Its so easy to speak for other people.
One of the hardest things to watch is, that all of them aren’t lazy. They work a ton and didn’t get the respect they deserve. How is that even possible, that in one of the richest country’s they need 2 to 3 jobs and can’t even afford a single accommodation… unbelievable. Stay strong, hope you the best, greetings from Germany
US if full of debt 💸 Yes that’s the saddest this people trying to just get food and some places to stay, and they work a lot I did work myself 2-3jobs just to keep place to live and buy food, the system is horrible. A working person can easily end up on the street if simply get sick and won’t be able to work
I second what luiza alieva said. I needed 3 jobs to keep a roof and food only basic needs are extortionate and wages are low. A full time minimum wage job at 40 hours a week is a few hundred less after tax than the cost of a 1 bedroom apartment in most the country. So we need job 2 to cover part of the rent, and transportation, maybe healthcare and a third one for anything like food or emergencies. There is no social help, no matter what many Americans will get on here and lie about, many of them have been privileged and watch Fox News but never had to apply for anything, so they assume there is help. I ended up living in my car with two small kids I was pleading to government offices before it happened, I was also employed with 2 jobs as a divorced parent. The state said ok we will help with the cost of healthcare and give you some help with food only. However none of that pays the bills or keeps a roof. So me a 4 and 6 year old were camping, to survive, I got out 6 years ago and never looked back.
You think Germany can stay unaffected by the current economic crisis?=) Right now your government does exactly what Uncle Sam says, and it definitely affects your economy with such gas and oil prices. Yeah i heard $900 for 37 hours per week! That's complete insanity with the cost of living and healthcare in America. That's just a months rent for working a fulltime job. I guess she needs another job to actually afford food, health insurance, transportation etc.
That number is fiction. I don't think there is a job in SCAL that paid that little in DECADES...Just this number in isolation calls into question the journalism...btw...in 2016 the min wage in California, which includes some FAR less expensive places, was 10 per hour or 1600 PM.

Please don’t ever vote for anything in Australia that says the USA way is better. It’s horrible!!!!! We get nothing in exchange for our taxes and Americans know zero about other countries. It makes me so sad that we still don’t have universal healthcare. I'm college educated and became poor due to circumstances that were beyond my control. I was fortunate enough to rebuild after a few years, when my children didn't need daycare anymore. Now we're fine (not rich, but comfortable). Having been on both sides of it, I can say that people, including family, "friends", community etc, judge way too much. They have no clue what a person has or is going through.
@little drane So...what's your solution? Mandatory abortions, mandatory sterilization, or should we just take kis away after they're born? You're a classist prick. @little drane Well put. It seem we start to realize having kid is the reason why people struggle because all your wealth goes toward them until they move out. I'm so glad I'm not alone on not having kids, but it's already to late and nobody will see our message lol. My quick review. 5 minutes in the video, I've notice 2 things. The woman works full time and she have to walks home from work and vice versa. She made $900 a month working 2 jobs. I'm gonna watch more to see how much she pay for rent, utility bills, cigarettes and how many children she have. 12 years ago it happened to me. I had a career, a family, a home, a future... it's all gone. I did everything you were supposed to, graduated high school, went to college, worked my way up the corporate ladder...nothing prepared me for what happened. Friends and even family shunned me like my situation was contagious. There is no safety net. From a house to a hotel to an RV...eventually just a tarp along the river.
That is quite a reversal of fortune. Were you left unemployed by the Great Recession? What was your academic major/degree? There has been quite a widespread recovery in our economy prior to the pandemic, how is it that you were not able to get back on your feet?
It is happening all over the world. Education, experience hard work do not pay as it was. Safety nets are not for everybody in life accident. Can happen to anybody, it is happening to anybody. Ukraine is just one small example. Who created condition that normal person have not much power to have life standard related to the all right efforts to be safe and successful ....
@@halinaleonowicz8038 You are combining may things that, in my opinion, are unrelated. For example, Russia’s expansionist war in Ukraine does not explain why Alexa Saltz lost her job twelve years ago or why she now lives under a tarp along the river. Nor is it an example of a worker’s inability to make ends meet. Rather, it is simply an example of aggression by a megalomaniacal dictator who ruthlessly takes what he wants. Evil? Yes. Associated with personal financial collapse? No. Relevant to this discussion? I don’t see how. Regarding your assertion that education, experience, and hard work do not pay off, I disagree, and so would every STEM field employee in the U.S. Those are exactly the qualities that do pay off. But some people get degrees in fields that society does not value very highly and society therefore does not reward hard work in those fields so well, degrees in academic majors like Gender Studies or Comparative Religion or Communications or Sociology, to name a few. If you get an education in a field that is not valued by society, then that leaves a person worse off than if they had not gone to college in the first place because they miss four years of employment, they are no more employable after getting the degree than before getting the degree, and now they have a mountain of debt. It is with all of this in mind that I raised the questions I that I raised with Alexa Saltz. To your implied point that things are worse now than ever before, I disagree. The good old days almost always sucked for some people and I believe that the number of people for whom the present sucks is a smaller percentage than in the days of old.
@@MrSethmo13 I never went to college as there is no point in it anymore. Used to be if you gone to college you were to some smart, hot shot big shot. Basically I have no education from school. It should be backwards.
@@christins.1481 I think another way of saying what you just said is that there are multiple pathways to economic success. College is only one such pathway and, to your point, nowadays college is absolutely not a lock on the good life. Going to college and studying the wrong academic major can put a person into a deeper and darker financial hole than that person would’ve been in had he/she not gone to college at all. Simply speaking, college is not for everybody and not everybody should go to college. But the fact that nowadays everybody does go to college (or at least tries to go) waters down the value of a degree and leaves people with mountains of debt. This is why you have people such as yourself with high school diplomas (or general equivalency diplomas) who also have a highly valued skill set (for example, plumbers and electricians and carpenters) making more money than people who go to college and receive worthless liberal arts degrees (for example, art history and English literature). I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Life is full of choices and if somebody chooses to learn plumbing instead of going to college to learn why Vincent van Gogh cut off his ear, then the plumber should be rewarded and the person who studied art history should learn that they’ve wasted their time and their money in college. As for you, you are living proof that hard work and perseverance can pay off. Although you haven’t stated what you do for a living, I suspect you are not working in McDonald’s serving fast food to customers for minimum wage. You’re not trying to make a living and raising children while working at an entry-level position that is intended to be filled by high school seniors and teenagers while they are transitioning to adulthood. You are living proof that if you choose your pathway carefully and thoughtfully, you can rise above the minimum wage without a college degree and still have a very decent life. Kudos to you!
As a Canadian watching this what strikes me the most is that these human beings literally don’t feel like they are allowed to NOT be proud of their country. To listen to them gaslight themselves, saying things like “It’s in my blood”. “I have ancestors who were here before it was a country…” Your country has failed you. Not just by not providing for you, but because they also teach you to put pride in your country above pride in yourself. I am a disabled Canadian, I get free healthcare, free Dr and free hospital visits. most of my meds are also free. I also get $1,200 a month to live on just because I am a citizen of this country and a human being who deserves secure shelter and food. I do not have kids… How can you be proud of a country where a man works 25 years and gets a note saying he’s done in 40 hours? How can you be proud of a country where a single mother of 3 works two jobs and barely sleeps for 700 dollars a month? Americans, do yourself a favour and google what it’s like in other countries, how they provide for their citizens if America is so great why don’t they take great care of their people? You deserve better.
Exactly, this pride BS must be gone fromt he school programs here in the US.. Even high paid jobs don't make sense anymore once you get ill. Even if you don't get ill, it's no loger enough to house yourself in a safe sanitary home. Also, with the exception of the bus driver cause he works for the government, everyone else in the film, even if they work 50 hours/week which is not healthy, but still, even working full time, there's not real health insurance. It's all a scam, there's so many co pays, deductibles, and nothing is covered in the end.. The only way out is to ditch the pride and work on getting other citizenships early in life.
Okay, you convinced me to find a disability and not work too. How can anyone still be patriotic to a country that allows big business to treat people like disposable nappies after a lifetime of physical and economic contribution to the companies and the country. It is shameful ...
I remember the movie 'Company men'. The company owner, Salinger I guess, laid off thousands of people and only said: the hell it is a business not a charity.
This film completely negates Kim K's comment "People just don't want to work these days". All of the people in this documentary want to work. The woman living in the motel working at Dunkin and McDonald's WANTS to work. The construction worker man living in the tent community with his family WANTS to work. The man who worked for GE for 13 years WANTS to work. But the exploitative nature of corporations makes it so the people who want to work cannot work and live at the same time. Having grown up what I would consider upper-middle class, watching this makes me feel INCREDIBLY grateful. I know I'll always have somewhere warm with a roof over my head to go to if I fall on hard times. That fact alone gives me the confidence to pursue my dreams. My family supported me throughout my education. I had everything I ever needed or wanted. Clothes, technology, a car... you name it. I never went without. Not everyone is that lucky, and it's just plain wrong that not everyone has access to the basic necessities and dignities of life. Shame on America.
I'm glad you are grateful. However, you are speaking like a person that has never worked fast food, a gas station, or construction...I have...I can tell you the number one person that makes a difference in their life is the person in the mirror...that person allowed me to BECOME upper middle class. My mother divorced my father and went to nursing school (she had 5 children) she made it work. The strength of a woman for ya.
@@OldskolFan she was in a relationship-No One ever plans for things to go bad. Where is the father of those kids, why isn't there social security for those kids, why do we continue to allow people to be paid below a living wage by greedy corporations.
@@NyanyiC people do plan for these things though. I am not judging, but she was very young having all of those kids. The oldest looks 10 and I think they said she was under 25? Even if a man made her promises, together they weren’t ready for kids. A lot of women would love to have children but don’t because they can’t afford it. Our states don’t care for babies after they are born. Daycare cost a lot, food, housing, etc. We do offer assistance with food and healthcare-but it is not enough. You can’t fully blame society when the choices you made put in you in your situation. IJS.
@@OldskolFan that’s the only thing I don’t understand. Breaking out of poverty and carving a career is something you generally only get one clear shot at in life and it’s optimum when you’re young with the energy and health to give it your all and without any dependents or responsibilities to anyone other than yourself. Not to sound horrible but kids should come after this no wonder Germania’s children constantly ask why about their difficult living conditions- it’s clearly not healthy or fair on them either. I know the kids are loved now they’re here but technically they are a burden towards young people like this changing their fortunes. That’s why I still don’t have kids despite having worked FT since leaving school and owning my own place as I need to know everything is in place before I introduce another life to this world.
Germania's mother in law is an angel. She takes care of her grandchildren even when the dad is nowhere to be seen. The children at least are left with someone who loves them.
Sadly it's no longer true that if one is WILLING to work hard that they can provide a comfortable existence for themselves and family. My Grandfather was able to raise a family in modest means on $300.00 per month. He bought a home and had 1 car on that salary. He had a new car every 4 years, and was able to take a modest family vacation EVERY year. My Dad and his siblings wore hand me down clothes as long as they lasted, but they still had new clothes and shoes as needed. They had to be frugal, but they weren't in poverty. This isn't working for the majority of Americans, and it won't be much longer before people are no longer able to afford to work. It's almost to the point that a worker has to pay the company to work for it. How can that possiby sustain itself? I know that sounds ludacrous, but we're almost to that point. Don't believe me? Pull out your calculator and do the math yourself.
But the truth is she would be fine if she didn't have the extra burden of children.. she ,y question is why when she was already poor, did she burden herself financially with more mouths to feed?!?!
@ghost mall should have beyond 5 year old undersyanding to know more children=more money to feed them this is so basic it goes outside the pro choice/life debate
I've been there, working 3 jobs and still not making enough. It's so hard and I didnt even have children. My heart goes out to these folks. I hope they find something better ❤ Please always be kind, everyone has a story and you dont know what they're going through.
I left my fortune 500 slave corporation because they were too WOKE for me and they paid the people who do the least work the most. They call them high paid slave drivers and babysitters. But most of all they bring in cheap labor from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Phillipines, and other super poor or war torn nations that they were responsible for creating in the first place and can get these traitors to their own countries to work for less and they can't complain if they can't speak our language. MONEY is all that matters in a Capitalistic Slave society and we are only worth what it costs to replace us. With open borders its not much, especially with a dying, economy and dollar and massive inflation and the world turning against us. THE QUESTION IS: HOW MUCH ASS ARE YOU WILLING TO KISS TO CLIMB THE CORPOATE LADDER TO SOMEDAY GET PAID ENOUGH TO LIVE A LIFE WITH A HOME AND MANY MORE TOYS. I COULD NEVER KISS ASS AND TAKE ORDERS FOR BIGGER MONEY JUST TO APPEASE MY GREEDY DESIRES AND THIRST FOR POWER OVER THE PISS ANT EMPLOYEES BELOW ME.

This is insane - I live in Denmark and here the minimum wage for a Mc Donald worker is 18 dollar/hour and you also get's free healthcare and education. I'm actually impressed that that so many Americans still believe that unregulated capitalism is the best way, even when it's obvious that the employers try their best to suppress even basic worker rights and keep people stuck in a evil circle of poverty. I hope the Americans some day wake up and see the light....
dog walkers are needed RIGHT NOW in Seattle make up to $35 an hour. amazon will pay you $20. these people have serious issues...thats why they dont have jobs.
Sure. And just as soon as we're not paying to help defend Europe, we'll get right on that. Your country is on 'Easy Mode' when you don't have to worry about maintaining a disproportional arsenal and troops. Should we simply 'wake up' then, and cut our military in spite of the threats from Russia and China? One thing is certain, outsourcing our jobs to China has been a mistake - they've taken us all for a ride, spying on our industries, stealing our technologies, and using the money they've made to create weapons that are specifically designed to target the West's. Fighting pointless wars hasn't done wonders for our economy either - our debt is insane as well. But hey, we all got cheap TVs, right? 🙄 So yes, we have our own self-inflicted issues, but don't talk to me of 'insanity' until your country has the weight of the world on its shoulders.
I feel for these people. I have come close to homelessness due to a layoff before. My family helped ensure I did not fall into homelessness. I already had a masters degree in a niche engineering field when this happened. Poverty and homelessness can happen to anyone within the blink of an eye. So please don’t judge people and help out if it’s within your means. May the fortune of the less fortunate increase with their hard work and efforts.

This is poverty porn, it came up in my recommended because I like to watch economic documentaries. I'm watching this because people like these don't come up within my circle and it's pretty fascinating to me. I know poor people exist, but I never go into their neighborhoods, for safety reasons. People in my circle are educated, usually no kids, professional couples buying houses and such. People are doing pretty well including me. But our lives are not a documentary material. This doesn't represent the America that I know and live in. I work my one office job like four hours at most, a day, make about 5k a month and swim in my pool in the evenings. American dream is good and America has been nice to me and my parents who now own 2 houses. And we just got to this country like 15 years ago. Can you believe these people cannot figure out how to work with capitalism and the system even though they grew up here?
I was once (when I was in my 20s) dreaming of moving to US. Now, having built a house here in Poland, where life is safe and affordable I can never imagine moving to US. It's a dream for the greedy or mentally ill.
It reminds me when I came to the United States in 1993: I held four part-time jobs, I barely slept a few short hours a day. One of my part-time jobs was at the international airport near Toledo, Ohio, handling packages. When packages where not coming through the conveyor my workmates would tell me to sleep while they kept an eye on our supervisors. I slept very little like Germania in this video, I have so much compassion for her.
This is absolutely heartbreaking. This country is rich and we have people living like this. The wealthy ruling class should ashamed of their greed. All these corporations are becoming insanely rich while such a significant number of our population living homeless or nearly homeless. It’s shameful!!

He even started butting heads with the countries in my region for 2 years even though we are oil rich, then Ukraine happens and he starts beginning us to lower cost when it's pretty much his fault with the war and pumping the Ukrainian people with weapons before war ever happened. I’m a stay at home mother and sometimes I get frustrated with being stuck at home with a toddler most days. Docs like this really puts things into perspective. It really is a privilege to be able to stay at home with your child while the other parent works not even close to the hours she does and we have money leftover to go out to eat buy things we want but don’t need and go on vacations. It really is unfair. No one should have to work like a dog just to be able to just barely make ends meet in such a grueling way. She lives in a hotel room with children she barely gets to see. This is incredibly sad.
It is sad... but why is your life different compared to hers? First you have a supportive significant other, I hope you thank that person for the privilege provided to you and that person thanks you for providing a nice home life. Second, I'm sure the supportive entity has jobs skills and or education to allow such a life...this was not by accident but with planning and work. Also, to say it is unfair takes away from your SO whom works hard, I'm sure, to provide the life you enjoy.
What's sad is people really don't know what they can accomplish in life and all of us can learn a skill that keeps a roof over our heads. I wasn't a good student, but i knew i needed a skill to support myself and i went after an IT skill.
I’m from Spain where the vast majority of women don’t have kids until they at least have somewhat stable lives and reliable partners. I couldn’t believe how different it is for many here in the US when I first came, and I definitely think that’s a big part of the problem. Way too many women here seem to want to start the house from the roof down which is usually a recipe for disaster.
There used to be a time when people took pride in their careers working in drug stores or hardware stores, and made a living wage that could support a family.

It's strange to see people who live in such conditions in a country like US, earning a bigger salary that I am, while I, living in Uruguay, a little country in Latin America, have a nice flat and a good life gaining a little less of 1000 dollars. I've always growned up with the idea that life in United States was so good an easy, and having a house and a good quality of life was something anyone there could afford.
With the inflation now, that is crushing the working middle class. I watch these videos to understand my brother in USA who keeps on insisting for me to buy a house here in Asia. It's a shame. This documentary was filmed in 2016 (there are visible dates on the paper that the man being laid off by GE held on camera) and here we are now 6 years later, and nothing has improved. If anything, it's gotten worse. We need to have federal laws that guarantee every worker the right to a living wage if they commit to work full time, and we need to legally codify exactly what a living wage is, to account for various circumstances.

Here in Upstate New York many low skilled jobs are starting in the $16 plus per hour range, and some employers are offering benefits and bonuses to part-time workers due to severe labor shortages Our cost of living is magnitudes lower than NYC and other states We have a healthcare plan called The Essential Plan, a zero premium healthcare plan for those that don't qualify for Medicaid As a single worker I could make $27,000 per year before I'd have to pay a dime for coverage One of the downsides is that some of our public assistance benefits are so liberal that workers will purposely keep their reported incomes at, or below thresholds, especially those receiving housing subsidies, as once they lose them they may never get them back due to closed waiting lists

I can remember what it was like it was yesterday. The constant fear and knowing you cannot stop. You cannot quit or you and your baby will be homeless. These poor families. What makes me sad, so many people think "the poor" are that way by choice. No. Its by design of a system that wants people to fail. You have one medical crisis. You go through a divorce. An unplanned pregnancy. You could be done for. Just one mistake and it could ruin your finacial future. So sad.

Then you have hundreds of great universities where people from around the world dream about. You have FAFSA if you are low income.. or you can get a loan and graduate with a STEM degree to land a great career. People did not worked hard when they had to and they have to now.

That number is fiction. I don't think there is a job in SCAL that paid that little in DECADES...Just this number in isolation calls into question the journalism...btw...in 2016 the min wage in California, which includes some FAR less expensive places, was 10 per hour or 1600 PM.
And maybe stop buying cigarettes

hey, you can't be shaming the system now. i'm very positive she has access to services that help people like her afford the things they need. also, there are multiple jobs paying people $50k-$70k per year (pretty good salaries). i wonder why she don't work at those
Please don’t ever vote for anything in Australia that says the USA way is better. It’s horrible!!!!!
We get nothing in exchange for our taxes and Americans know zero about other countries.
It makes me so sad that we still don’t have universal healthcare. I’m an old lady now and I can see if we don’t demand our rights right now, today, that all the young gig workers now will be the future rough sleepers in 20 - 30 years.
People shouldn't have to give up on a normal part of being a human because richer people decided communities shouldn't take care of each other.
Tell me about it. I'm homeless with a job and I have an entire army of trolls dedicated to harassing and slandering me 24/7 simply for asking my audience for financial help.
@little drane Well put.
Children are the #1 reason why people stay a slave to corporation and their cheap labor because you have no choice.
So don't have baby if you're struggling. That's what corporation will be counting on.
We don't know if the circumstances were "beyond your control." We only have your say so and why should we believe you?
@@CaptainJackSparrow110 because that's life. What good for you does it do to judge? You could be next. Then you get to find out what "out of your control" means.
I feel the pain. Im supporting a family of 4 on $26k per year with no government assistance. My wife and kids cant get any support because we are married for the past 17 years. Frankly, i dont want government handouts. I sent them to Japan last year to work and go to school, after a year living with her family in Naha, Okinawa, my wife finally was able to get a cheap small apartment. I have been struggling to save up money to buy my ticket. I live in my brother living room. I am half way to affording a plane ticket. Once there I will find a job. However, foreigners and Ex-Pats are treated as such, they have lower standing and not really looked at as equal.
Now people with a college degree are working in fast food, meanwhile I make more than a college entry job and never even went to highschool.
That's messed up when I get paid more than college entry positions and my "degree" is a GED. I didn't flunk or fail highschool, I had learning disabilities and so was homeschooled. Quit school to take care of the family then eventually got my GED when I was 30 just because.
Also, my home is paid off. Bought a brand new vehicle for the first time. Living a fairly good life.
“I have ancestors who were here before it was a country…”
Your country has failed you.
I do not have kids…
How can you be proud of a country where a man works 25 years and gets a note saying he’s done in 40 hours?
As a Canadian , I find it disgusting that there are so many freeloaders or Canadians that think they should get something for nothing, No point in working anymore, May as well join the rest of the bums who choose not to work. Unfortunately this country will be broke in a couple with JT at the Helm.

There is also many housing programs for low income, single parents and disabled people. My last months rent and moving expenses were covered by my city since I’m disabled.

Her situation in life is 100% on her poor decisions. She just wanted to "start over" and left with no job. Was this before Indeed? There are SO MANY better jobs listed and recruiting agencies out there finding people good jobs. She's flying by the seat of her pants knowing there is a safety net when she falls. It's the American way.
So if anyone took the time to read the description, this was from 2016😒
How can anyone still be patriotic to a country that allows big business to treat people like disposable nappies after a lifetime of physical and economic contribution to the companies and the country. It is shameful ...
Good question.....
Is that a flex?
I'm proud of her tenacity as well, but she shouldn't have to work that many part time jobs in order to make ends meet. That is f'd up and we all know it! 😡
Germania has a tough life, what I would consider getting is a bicycle (used for $25) instead of taking a bus, this can increase her range of finding a better job.

I pray Germania and her kids are in a better situation now. She exudes so much joy even though she is in a difficult situation. Thank you for sharing her story
It’s not joy. It’s an overly used adrenal glam from lack of sleep. She’s experiencing a medical emergency.
When cameras are on you you might play up a bit? Too bad some young women have to learn the hard way. You can’t keep having children when you are in poverty. I love children but knew I wouldn’t have any on my wages, when I was young. Where’s the father? I grew up poor in the projects.

$8 an hour. THAT'S CRIMINAL!!! They charge a fortune for their nasty "food", too. 😩
Germania's mother in law is an angel. She takes care of her grandchildren even when the dad is nowhere to be seen. The children at least are left with someone who loves them.
This Germania lady deserves everything and more for herself and her family. People like her are so resilient and focused.

This is insane - I live in Denmark and here the minimum wage for a Mc Donald worker is 18 dollar/hour and you also get's free healthcare and education. I'm actually impressed that that so many Americans still believe that unregulated capitalism is the best way, even when it's obvious that the employers try their best to suppress even basic worker rights and keep people stuck in a evil circle of poverty.

So yes, we have our own self-inflicted issues, but don't talk to me of 'insanity' until your country has the weight of the world on its shoulders.

We still struggled for many years and I had to worked those fast food jobs for min wage. Public schools and a full-ride scholarship to university were the only things that allowed me to escape Orlando and get my college degrees for better tech jobs. Would have been stuck working the theme parks otherwise.

It is a reality check for sure.
Well tbh this is the reality for single mothers so .... pick better fathers ??

I’m from Spain where the vast majority of women don’t have kids until they at least have somewhat stable lives and reliable partners. It is becoming tough to find middle-class paying jobs, even for people with a college education and experience. The requirements for good-paying jobs are often so high, that very few are qualified for such positions. The companies need to create more full-time entry-level professional positions.

I've always growned up with the idea that life in United States was so good an easy, and having a house and a good quality of life was something anyone there could afford.
With the inflation now, that is crushing the working middle class.

And when the powers that be decide how to hand out benefits they take into account HOW MUCH IT REALLY COSTS TO LIVE!!!!!
republicans dont want that
well said everything is getting worse here day by day. am a college student having to work 2 jobs 2 help my family with costs, when we were getting by fine with one pre-pandemic, but obviously it's come @ a great cost to my health. I can only hold on & hope this degree pays off which I am also mostly covering with my own money. one of the toughest times in my life, in regards to economy.
I used to think federal laws would fix this, but after some study I came to realize it is laws / government actions that create this problem in the first place.
Our inflationary system is the result of government action. They are the ones with their fingers on the printing press, they also lie about the real inflation number which makes it harder to keep up with real inflation. The actions government took during covid are a great example of inflationary policies. Can't blame the virus, it was the government.
Raising wages causes inflation. I would know this because I've been dealing with inflation years before COVID due to this crap. Some of you need to pick up a book and stop regurgitating everything you read.

So sorry to hear this was staying in my car when Wells Fargo stole my home in forclosure and been exposing this massive fraud of banks stealing peoples property's for several years now.

I worked two jobs when i was 62 for 6 years. The first job was my part time job and the second was full time. I was on my feet 14 hours every day and it was not an easy job espedially when lifting weight was involved. I only had 4 hours a day. I stopped working on my part time job when covid statted. I kept working until last January 2023, i will be 70 at the end of the year. Thank god i made it and now i am relaxing. Unions are the snswer for nlue colour workers.
If I had children, me and my husband would have been homeless ourselves. His job shutdown with only a two week's notice. Had two weeks to get our finances in order, scrounge up 2k in 2 weeks to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. After that I was having $20 in food for work so we could pay off the mortgage that steadily kept on rising.
You can no longer have children in the USA. This is why the majority of people are chosing not to have children.
child free to be free of financial & generational trauma! exactly
Super! Overpopulation! I never wanted kids in a world like this!
It doesn't make sense to continuously live in the USA if you can no longer have children here, unless you don't want any kids
You are one of the responsible ones. I'm certainly planning to be more financially secure first before I decide to have kids
Why should you bring another slave in this world!!!!@!@@@@@@@
How come nobody is talking about this girl Germania out there in the media?!?! She's the type of woman who should be making it to the front page of the newspapers! All over the news! Her mental, physical and emotional strength is incredible!!! She's definitely the type of female I look up to and feel intimidated by, not many can survive or get by in the way she does it. Seriously, do not give up, the system will never change but your determination and amazing strength will take you to places.... Sooner or later you'll make it, it'll be all worth it, trust me, I had it real hard but nothing like your situation and I made it after a decade of endless effort and sacrifices! All the best and cheers to all the hard working class people who don't give up and fights for survival! ⚒️🙏❤️
Probably because she refuses to be a victim and is taking responsibility for her own self.
The system will never change is exactly the reason why the system will never change
Lol. The fact that you think someone who is admittedly working hard is front page news shows how pampered American women are
Don’t forget her mom
Her mother was a big fan of Hitler
The gap between the rich and the poor in the USA is truly heartbreaking 😢
@Ash Hegde Being a European myself you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. We are (thank God) not even _remotely_ close to American conditions.
No
You obviously don't live in the Uk.
@Ash Hegde I've tried writing two different replies to your comments, but as the both contain statements that criticize USA TH-cam automatically removes them before they are even posted. So much for "free speech" XD
@@kasperchristensen8416 maybe you're just unaware? I've recently gotten similar video suggestions for Portugal and Germany and it seems equally shitty there for people in similar situations
The family that had 6 months to get back on their feet has no excuse. that man should be ashamed. You could clearly tell he does not want to work he was lazy.
He even woke up late for the job on his 1st day. Now he's dragging his family through all that he is an excuse of a man.
I work 10 hours a day, and sometimes 12 hours so that I can provide for my two kids and wife. I'm 47.
@joseCalderon1976 latino?
@@WillPlatero-p5q Yeah I happen to be. I do work with some other ethnicities that do work hard and long hours too. Mostly Gen X and boomers. Some of the younger Latinos born in the US leave a lot be desired TBH
When your a real mom and your put in that situation you’ll do whatever it takes to make sure your babies are straight when most would fold… Bless all those suffering…
I have much respect and admiration for Germania's strength and resilience for herself and her kids. She's amazing at working hard for her kids when the pathetic father left her to raise the kids on her own. She chose to struggle with several jobs instead of being lazy and have the State completely take care of her and her kids. I truly wish her life will greatly improve for the sake of her children.
She reminded me of Alicia Keyes!
It won’t. Because America’s political & economic system is 🗑
@@8ofwands300 how does 2016 and “misleading” relate? Please don’t say things have gotten better because it’s six years ago.
@@mr12aT It’s misleading because it doesn’t include all the “improvements” that TheRump has inflicted on America!
She's still a slave, working to make the rich richer.
Thursday on my way to work. I was waiting for the bus. When it saw this man bare footed with the sun so hot and the pavement. He later was digging in the trash looking for food and eating what he found. I wanted to cry so bad. I bought him a meal and a drink . He got so happy and told me ...thank you ! Why the government do not help this poor souls ?
maybe he doesn't want to stay sober enough to qualify for government assistance?
@@royharper2003 Maybe ...but I felt bad. Too many homeless people and more will be on the street as things get.
