Yes, I ditched the fuel pump and reserve tank (eliminated all unnecessary relay's and wiring) and split the dual carbs and used only one (rejetted of course). This bike was stripped down to as bare bones as only necessary.
@@myhobbyz cool! So now without a pump its just gravity feed into the carb... has this effected the bike at higher speeds? (starving for gas) or because its now a single carb it's more efficient? Thanks
Yes, It was only gravity fed, no reserve tank or pump, single carb rejetted to a 180 main jet and 50 idle jet (if I remember correctly) and had no problems keeping up with the fuel flow needed.

Mine won't run with a 180 main unless I hold my hand over the carb. I had to drill it out a lot richer than that.

Michael Cindric no those have the tank like any other bike, just the first 535 had the tank under seat.

what kind of carb did u use?
stock carb, (mikuni) split them and rejetted.
***** main jet drilled with a #49 drill bit makes it a 180 main jet, kept the pilot jet stock, no washers under the needle....

One of the factory Hitachi carbs, I split them and than rejetted it.

SlaughterTheWeak yeah VHT wrinkle paint from rattle can. I'm pretty sure the exhaust for all early virago's are about the same.
