Monorails should be used to connect specific destinations. (business districts, sports venues, leisure areas etc.) They are generally not used as main transportation. I think the reason why you are not getting the numbers on your transportation is that your city is not big enough to warrant using any.

Is it possible to just turn the metro station next to the university with the road anarchy mod? I think its possible and that really could solve your problem with the lines
Are you going to include some things from the green cities dlc? That could fit really well into the city theme

I hate to say it but a load of your public transport is going to be really ineffective and inefficient, as they all go to the same places. In the case of one subway line and monorail line, they literally stop at exactly the same places.
A couple suggestions:
1. You should probably make the metro station in line with the metro line, either by just rotating it where it is or moving it over.
2. For that monorail wye thing, there's a mod that lets you clean up the junction by only displaying the tracks that are allowed via the TM:PE lane connectors.
I really do like the modern architecture in this new update. The buildings add color and detail to avoid being brutalist.
@Kibitz: I know you usually don't like to do this, but why don't you use highway tunnels a bit more. If your goal is a walkable city why not remove the highway to their necessary existance within the city and bury the rest under ground. There you could also make a giant roundabout underground under the whole city.

Hey kibitz, in your mega factory that is making batterys, you can still see the icky-goop filled old battery setup next to the tower. Hehe!
For the university Metro: Rotate it 90 degrees anti-clockwise. The upper portion will look better with that facing, and you will be more easily able to get lines to it.

Look I love me some good ole kibitz chaos but walkable urban planning fills me with joy.
What about a city challenge? You cant destroy anything. Simple as that. Any building you put, any road, automatically becomes a "historical piece" that you have to preserve. I imagine a city where the center is quiet and old, and the further out you go, the more modern and busy it becomes

There are monorail/tram/street combos available on the steam workshop, iirc. In addition there are Monorail stations over roads (Very Useful), and multi-transport hubs.

I wish we had a monorail in my city.
I know that they are more expensive to build and less reliable than the metro, I know that it is a lot of noise pollution and I know that it's upkeep is an entire rabbit hole of _Oh, that's bad_ by itself, BUT: Monorails are just SOOO COOL!!
Just rotate the underground hub so it fits in better
16:00 is there a way to turn the subway station 90 degrees counterclockwise? If so, then you could make it a pass-through station and have no problems with crossing trains.
Also, in my opinion, the station would look better if the stairs faced the walking area and not the street.

If city has taught me anything, it is definitely that public transportation can’t be convenient and you should alway expect your house or job to be destroyed to make way for the lasted and greatest idea.

Came here to say exactly this.
That one metro station is very well placed. It is just that the in-and-out nature of that branch is kind of wonky. Just use MoveIt to rotate the station so that the metros can do a through movement. The station should still be close enough to the road to maintain its roadway connection, and it would look almost exactly as it does right now above ground.
You should just get rid of all cars apart from at the edge of the city, so people are forced on to public transport, bicycles or walking.

16:16 Regarding the station by the University... Change the orientation... instead of N/S, go E/W. Then instead of having the lines go in and out from the same side, it can just go through. It'd look something like concentric half-circles the the lower elevation line, which is more better. lol. More visually appealing, anyways, even though it's underground.
It reminds me a little of Washington DC...

I now have 53 bus lines, 14 blimp routes, I am building pointless prop parks that no one actually goes to, 22 metro routes, every small road in my city has a bike path and am currently trying to figure out my monorail…This is all your fault…

He needs to remember intercity buses
The highways should be highways with bus lanes, and then have a bus-monorail.
Buses are for inter-transit transport. So he would have buses going between all the stops in the hub.
He should use ferries. One of the docks could be a ferry-bus dock, connected to the inter-transit buses

A simple idea, you should use only farms for your industry (with walking), it office buildings to get goods, and most importantly, build a proper education zone that is pedestrian!
If you really want a hard game, go play soviet union:workers and resources with all settings enabled and at maximum difficulty. Either way, great video!

i approve walcable city, i approve using multiple pubblic serveces, but i don't agree how you use them. they all do the same route! i would have put more distances beween most stop except the tram that has to be more capillar
17:38 i know what you did. You made it walkable in the district zoning. Last video you wanted to leave it unwalkable for contrast to all the modern buildings and so you could have the towers.

Build an elevated metro stop at the coast side and a regular underground stop above of it. This might solve your height problems concerning the track connections

You say you have good public transportation? Pish posh. There's not even a blimp service to ferry people from one corner of the map to the other.
Why don’t you adjust the metro station near the university 90 degrees so it’s easier to join in the rest of the system. That way you don’t have the move from that great spot !??

Rotate that subway station with the crazy tracks by 90 degrees with move it. It still will work and give you the directionality
Kibz, the closer station on the upper part of the city, why not rotate it 90 degrees and have the line pass through it where it is? Will that not work?

I think the cargo traffic is the only thing that makes transit at this point. If you manage to put cargo trains in a way that works well it is done

The only thing they could do to make this game better is make more realistic graphics and it’ll be perfect
What about a cool city forest, in Germany some of the bigger cities do have a little forest which is kind of integrated into the city. For example like Dresden. I think for the theme of a walkable city this would fit quite well.
