    I think the performance pyramid needs to have a Level 0. Level 0 deals with the setup of the vocal instrument (i.e. everything that needs to happen prior to making sound). Posture, breathing correctly for singing. It's easy to ignore this aspect.

    I’ve spent so many hours studying TH-cam videos and comparing notes. I even compiled an archive of exercises, so I can build my own daily singing lessons without any experience with or basic fundamental knowledge of vocals or even music. I knew absolutely. I was a totally clean slate, and after HOURS studying videos made by professional vocal instructors, this is the most useful and impactful one I’ve seen. Learning to sing without an instructor is incredibly difficult, but videos like this are so helpful. Thank you!

    Thanks a lot for this video bro! You're a really good teacher, I've been learning a lot from you. Your story is very inspiring. My problem right now is getting my mix voice more developed. I've been singing for about 10 years, and most of the times I ended up singing and belting high with my chest voice, which always dries out my stamina too quickly. It's a bit frustrating sometimes because I can sing in the very high area as well as in the low area, but when it comes to the middle area, that's when I have trouble. So I'm working on my passagio, as most of the songs I sing sit around that area, and I always was pushing up too much chest to cover that area, but it's too limited to sing like that. I can sing in tune and with rhythm, and I know these are things I would always get well if I slow down the song when needed. But my problem is not being able to sing smoothly through my break, which doesn't let me have a good control over my voice

    I just had my third online lesson with Matt and it's been great for making real improvements. I realize this will sound like a total shill post, but I've been using the structured exercises from his Master Your Voice program for daily practice, combined with the guidance and feedback from his one-on-one lessons and it's exciting how quickly I'm making gains. Yeah, it's costly but well worth it if you are serious about wanting to sing. I'm already budgeting to continue my lessons for as long I keep progressing. I was completely embarrassed to sing in front of someone, especially with non-flattering exercises and lip bubbles, but Matt creates a very open and comfortable environment. Again, not a paid endorsement! (Which is exactly what paid endorsement would say...)

    Hi Matt!
    I'm considering taking singing lessons with you (you seem to know what you're talking about and you also seem like a very nice guy), but there's a few questions that I would like to ask you.
    1) How many 30 or 60-minute lessons do you recommend per month? Like intervals etc.
    2) Approximately how long will it take me to become a good+/pro singer with the interval you recommend above?
    I'm 49 years old and I have some basic skills (it's not the worst) but I have a feeling that my voice is ruined after a life of singing the wrong way. My problems are pitch, vibrato, head/mixed voice, cracks and singing soft notes. I can sing pretty ok at Johnny Cash-level (my lowest note is E2, so maybe I try to sing higher than my natural voice allows)
    Anyway, thank you for your many valuable videos :)
    EDIT: Ken Tamplin's singing lessons suck and his course is impossible to master.

    What is the solution to getting up this pyramid as quickly as possible? You need to work with exercises that will build your voice from the ground up
    You also need individual feedback go tell you what you're missing what part of this pyramid youre getting lost in andnwhst you need to really be working on
    Great exercises + individual feedback= huge results fast

    This was really great. I realized this and started my way from the bottom. But one thing I don't understand is that, when I tap into my mix around that F4 G4 it sounds different, like it sounds lighter . Is it normal? And also around that F4 G4 I have very less volume , but when I cross the bridge on an A4 and above I'm fine w those notes. Can you please help me?

    • @ramseyvoicestudio
      @ramseyvoicestudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Abdee, I would say that yes, that is normal when you're first finding your mix in the first bridge. Then, as you noted, your 2nd bridge (the A4) opens up beautifully! Try to do some exercises starting from the second bridge that descend into the first to strengthen it.

    Can't subscribe to that model as it's explained here. There is no need to learn pitch or timing before developing a great tone. Of course, one has to know one's weak points and work on them accordingly, but if singing on pitch is a problem (and it will take years to get really accurate in pitch), it will not prevent one from, for example, working on resonance, whereever this aspect is on your pyramid. I'd say, resonance contributes a lot to one's personal style (level 5), but is, at the same time important to develop chest and mixed voice (levels 2 and 3) and to enable relaxed singing necessary to develop vibrato or healthy distortion effects (level 4). So while I consider resonance a rather basic skill (it requires the coordination of air pressure and vocal fold closure and the proper usage of the singing muscles), it seems to be scattered all over the pyramid.
