    Nice video about beta oxidation of fatty acids . Understanding Biochemistry is extremely important for all doctors including gynaecologists. Without understanding the steroid pathway we can't understand the pathophyiology of Disorders of Sex Development .
    I would like to add few things more here about beta Oxidation . Beta oxidation takes place in four steps: dehydrogenation, hydration, oxidation and thyolisis. Each step is catalyzed by a distinct enzyme. It is the catabolic process by which fatty acid molecules are broken down.

    If in plamitic acid ,cycles repeats itself 7 times , and there is production of 80 ATP ,then why would you write 10i total ATP

      In last cycle of beta oxidation one acetyl CoA and one acyl CoA is formed but here another acyl CoA formed is also an acetyl CoA
      Hence from 7 cycles 7+1 acetyl CoA are formed

    Sir, I have understood the whole process of beta oxdidation, execpt; NADH oxidises to 3 ATPs by oxidative phosphorylation and FADH2 oxidises to 2 ATPs , I don't understand why you use 2.5 and 1.5 and one Acetyl CoA gives 12 ATPs in TCA cycle. Please explain sir

      The way i understood is, we have 7 spirals, and each spiral reax produce 1 acetyl coA and 1 acyl coA. But the last reax produce 2acetyl coA, bcoz we don't have any acyl grup left... Is it so?

    If one acetyl coA gives 12 ATP in TCA
    For C-16 ( PALMITIC ACID)
    Then 8x 12 = 96 ATP from TCA .
    7 NADH² and 7 FADH² yield total of
    (7x 3)+ (7x2) ATP = 35
    Total = 96+35= 131
    131 - 2 = 129.
    But now considering NADH² and FADH²
    (7x 2.5)+ (7x1.5) = 28.
    So total = 96+28 = 124
    124-2 = 122
    So i think value of Total ATP will be between 129 and 122.
