I love that Lamborghini is supporting this. Ferrari would send its lawyers over to have the car destroyed.
💯% they would molotov the car 🤣🤣
Ford would ask him how they got the quality so good.
Maybe, it's totally a Ferrari thing to do but at the same time how many Ferarros are out there and they don't care? I think they get more pissed if you actually touch a real one or use their logo
By the Pinkertons at that
What Ferrari does is absolutely justifiable when ppl change things in the logo and stuff. There have been several ppl who have made Ferrari kit cars and Ferrari don’t do anything as long as it doesn’t have anything to do with their logo.
My respect for Lamborghini went way up after watching this. Great project. Thanks!
I would bet a lot of money that that was the sole reason they did this. Two headlights and a steering wheel for that much *good* publicity? Publicity is cheap, good publicity is usually not. This is pretty much good publicity for free.
Should watch Leno explain why he only owns lambos and not fellalis. Basically because of the toxic culture surrounding ownership of a fellali.😊
@@igorordecha exactly, people are extremely gullible. Hundreds if not thousands of projects out there like this and this is the one single time they supported it. And probably the last.
ferrari would've had the car crushed and had him on a poster
@@otallono of course not, I don’t have this kind of money, is the lambo forum ran by the same guy at Lamborghini that gave this guy a steering wheel and headlights? But what you described is just the existence of being on the internet no? Have you seen Honda forums!?
Lamborghini's behavior is a total 180° from the lady that owns the rights to "Eleanor" from "Gone in 60 Seconds". This shows how much Lamborghini's staff and people are car enthusiasts at the core! THIS IS AWESOME!
someone can correct me if i'm wrong but i believe that she now has no power over that and Eleanor lookalikes/replicas are now no longer something she can sue/takedown. (i think the Shelby trust or something along those lines won the case)
@@Max-lf4br yes she (and the company that she was using to litigate people) lost a lawsuit to Shelby and got smacked down for doing this
Lamborghini has always been about pushing boundaries and being ridiculous - that is how they got started. They have been using 3d printing and such since the 80s and were one of the earlier adopters of composites (thanks to pagani when he worked there before starting his own shop).
@@GunnarKennedy Well maybe B. Is for Build guys can get compensation for the crap they went through with their clone !
@@corail53 Lambo supports this one projects and all of a sudden everyone thinks this is what they do. They sued many people trying to build lambos. And not everyone is trying to profit, most just want their dream car. Hundreds if not thousands of projects out there like this and this is the one single time they supported it.
The underhanded shade being thrown at Ferrari this entire video is awesome. Lamborghini deserves A LOT of respect for supporting builds like this, whereas Ferrari would just be sending their lawyers to shut you down
it's the only build they supported out of countless others and probably the last, it's obviously a PR move, and really seems to be working.
@@otallono That well may be true in this day in age and at their car level now however, they began their company if I remember correctly, building farm tractors, then transitioned into making exotic cars and Ferrari looked down their noses at them. He did say there were only 6 total doing this kind of project that they know of. Possible they helped them too
@@otallono they supported absolutely everything about this project .
They filmed a commercial with this guy and his son, it's on the Lamborghini channel.
They donated parts to him. They invited him to inner company functions, and they lent him an Aventador for two weeks.
There's zero reason to believe that they wouldn't support anyone else who would do something like this.
Not many people would ever take on this tremendous amount of work. They aren't losing money from this. They're only benefitting.
For that matter "Eleanour" mustang also loves to send lawyers even if you use the name, let alone the design.
@@otallono Doesn't matter, Lamborghini supported while Ferrari would had panic attack
i would have never believe a car company actually supported this and even hand you some of the pieces, absolutely bonkers, easily my favorite 3d printing story ever
Not every car company is Ferrari
@@nathan1sixteen is what separates from corpo to passion
Well I think it makes good publicity if you join them ... replicas of lambo have been around for a long time but then it's still the thing to own the real lambo ...if you can afford it ...
Lambo always screams expensive to me but im glad they allow this guy can proceed his project and its super awesome that he got that steering wheel from them as a supportive gesture!!. Also it could work both ways i mean hes inventing a ather way to make something as a lambo so he's also kinda dowing research for them. If this car gets better it would be cool and awesome. I hope lamborigni stays in contact with him this story made my day for real. =) + maybe in the near future we can 3D print a full bumper or rear bumper for a car (instead of little pieces) or bigger pieces that can be slap together. there so many things we sometimes cant even find spare parts for anymore so im happy that there is 3D printing. but this car is proof of a concept that could and can work if excuted correctly.
Right.. I've always liked Lambos, who doesn't? But, I must say, I like Lamborghini just a little bit more now.
I remember when Sterling first started this in Colorado. I followed his build all the way to when Lamborghini came to his house to record and even leave one for him to have for a bit. That was the textbook definition of father/son bonding!
Any details on mechanical parts inside??
@@THESLlCK LS1 V8 from a Corvette with a Porsche 911 transmission
That is just amazing. It's also fantastic that Lamborghini is supportive of this project. In a day and age where billion dollar companies like Nintendo go after fans for their fan projects it's nice to see a company encourage things like this.
It would be easy for a luxury company to turn their nose up and look the other way like Ferrari but it shows Lamborghini cares about cars and car enthusiasts. Kudos to them. Same with Porsche they're usually supportive of people modifying and making their cars better, repairing write offs and putting them back on the road, because they love cars at the end of the day.
When you have the chance and he took his car to schools during the development process to get student interested in 3D printing. Sterling is amazing with his descriptions of the work he has done.
Thanks Philip! :)
This is an Invent-a-door.
Hats off to the patience it must have taken to print all this out. I get frustrated just printing cosplay stuff 😅
That's the fun part. Having difficult situations presented without having a boss or supervisor pressuring you to do it right.
I built a diablo replica back in the day. Funny the Kennedy Engineering mating package he's talking about. I paid the R&D for that and was the first customer for the kit for my car. Guys over at Kennedy Eng are the best to work with. Glad to hear they are still at it.
How cool of Lamborghini to donate parts! Imagine if someone tried to 3D print a Ferrari, that would end up in a lawsuit😂
Amazing project, though I would prefer to design my own car if the effort is the same, a body with a signature of mine.
Exactly!
they would get a cease and desist just talking about 3d printing parts for a Ferrari
lambo has always been the same way. This is just a one off thing lambo is doing to get your support, they're smart.
😂😂😂
Eventually... If you mix those lawsuit papers with some resin... You could make a Ferrari part of it 😁
More companies should act like this, embrace the fans, don't sue them.
This guy was never going to be able to buy a real Aventador, but he can make a cool project car that looks like one.
I am surprised at how well he was able to model it out from a 1:10 scale model of a Lamborghini. This is amazing.
Lotta red in that design tree though 😂
This is not hard really, you just need photogrammetry or some reference models like Forza models which are 3d scanned. Then scale it up to the masurements.
Yeah, I'm surprised you believe the story. I have some prime oceanfront property available for you to buy in Utah.
@@alphaforce6998 lol you’re a bit slow aren’t you?
@@knight808. It seems like you're the one who just saw my comment fly over your house.
Joel, this was so much fun! You and David were awesome!
You're the one that made this possible!
My respect to Lamborghini went up several notches from this video. It's ok to have a nice product, but when the company behind the product is understanding and supportive, thats amazing. And my respect to this Gent for his work to get even that far. Cheers to him and to Lamborghini.
lambo getting behind them is the best thing they could have done. genius marketing and now my (and clearly many others) respect has skyrocketed for them. well played Lambo, well played
Great job. Sterling is so helpful to other builders as well. I'm the guy from Texas.
OMG HI!!!
You are too kind!
@@AZ-zn9lg Custom frame. I designed and built.
100% officially the coolest 3D printed project I've seen yet. Great job!
The most ambitious 3d print I've ever witnessed. All heros don't wear caps but he shouldn't definitely invest
Big props to Lamborghini for allowing this to happen, and assisting as well.
Honestly I did a few fiberglass mold kit cars back in the late 90's and I've been waiting for 3D printing to move into the kit-car world. What a nice thing to see in my feed.
I remember when this first started it looks amazing and lots of hard work. Good job guys
Joel you must be the nicest person to have a conversation with.. You are so kind, enthusiastic and interested.. Whether it is the smallest printed thingy or a freaking 3D printed Aventador.. You are awesome!
Man, Lamborghini is so awesome for recognizing how amazing this man is for taking on a project like this with his son. Shows that they are not pretentious terrible human beings only driven by greed....I want to see him do a Ferrari and an Eleanor next
Huge credit to Lamborghini for supporting this build, it is great a big company like this doesn't feel threatened in any way and helps dreams come true.
Also so much credit to the builder and his son, so much focus and determination, Hope I see it finished one day.
Been following the build for quite a while, so glad they're getting more attention!
Amazing work on this! So awesome. Good on you Lamborghini for supporting these projects!
The marketing person that saw this at Lamborghini and said "Hold on a minute, hear me out." deserves a raise!
This is absolutely incredible, both the car nerd and 3d printing nerd in me are smiling now. Love Lamborghini even more for supporting this kind of stuff.
This is so amazing. I am astonished and beyond impressed that you are still at it, 5 years later. Keep it up until it is perfect show room quality. And as Joel said, it is absolutely amazing that Lambroghini is actually supporting this.
@lasersterling is a BOSS! I've been following the car build for several years now and it is truly a thing of beauty and a real inspiration!
As a former Custom Car Builder, HECK YEA! Bravo Sterling & son! They used a very similar process to how professional car builders do it. I interviewed my friends at Tucci Hot Rods who use a very similar process to involve 3d printing in their custom builds.
I respect Lamborghini a lot for their support to these creators and engineers
I’m truly blown away by the ingenuity of hobbyists the world over it really showcases how many industrious people might be living next door to you building what at first may seem impossible. Congrats to this guy and what a great channel!
Such a rad project and a fascinating technique for joining so many parts together. What a great story to share!
This is awesome I always wondered if I could 3-D print fender, flares or spoilers for my car now I see you can so I’m definitely gonna be working on that. Love this video. Love this project it’s freaking sweet.
Yeah, a dude named Dingdongdrift 3d printed a widebody kit for his car. It is pretty neat.
Finally Sterling's story gets properly told and in depth with great detail! I have followed this man's work since day one.
I respect him, I look up to him and I am constantly amazed by what he does! And when Lambo came on board in
the massive way that they did, it just made it even better! I have always loved Lamborghini and they gave me even more
reason to do so.
Can't wait to see the finished product. Amazing. From a DIYer and a car enthusiast this is an amazing alternative.
I love Lamborghinis, and the fact that they're behind this project really makes my day! Also, perfect timing for this video as I'm looking for more inspiration and stuff on building my own project car, so this is really amazing, thanks man!
Absolutely amazing. This will be the future of production.
😂
As a car guy, it is awesome that Lambo reached out to this guy. Very cool.
I remember seeing the video that began this all and I'm actually so shocked that it looks this good, I truly cant wait to see the finished product!
What an amazing project. Big respect for Lamborghini, not many brands would be that cool and helpful.
Seeing stuff like this makes me think... How soon till someone reproduces their favorite HotWheels car?
Yeah buddy!
I've seen this project covered before but Joel's enthusiasm was just so authentic and nerdy I was totally enthralled! awesome interview! I was so totally enthralled! This is the best take on this project so far!
Amazing story! I think Lamborghini being supportive is brilliant.
Two of my favorite people! Sterling helped me figure out carbon fiber for the wind turbine on my bronco. So jealous you got to go see his car! Love the video!!!
How I spent $700,000 to "3D PRINT" a knock-off of a $400,000 car. Be amazed.
Its actually much cheaper, they’re i think still bellow 100K. And still its amazing to see these guy make such a innovative car on their own!
I mean, to be fair this car is way more rare than a normal lambo 😂
I remember hearing about this insane project around when I started 3D printing. It's AMAZING that it's come this far.
One of the COOLEST 3D Projects EVER!! Can’t believe this guy built it from scratch with his son!!! and Lamborghini is a REAL ONE. For supporting this!! This is what makes lamborghini such an incredible company!
This Video put a smile on my face. Thanks!
This is awesome. I love the fact that Lamborghini was actually involved
Pretty awesome how well this project turned out!
Great job absolutely mind boggling project the dedication is unreal
What a great project. Thanks for showing us.
Well this is just freaking rad!! Killer job mate and thanks for sharing the story 🤙
Simply brilliant
Well done guys it looks great and I was shocked pleasantly for Lamborghini s support big respect to them.
I'm following Sterling for a long a time. Such a cool dude, such an awesome project.
Amazing. Printing small chunks.
I love the respect the company has for his work and passion and love the respect he has for someone else's engineering and passion.
Amazing job with this 3d printing car, good things happen when we collaborate instead of hating each other, love this whole interview, love the whole project.
What a great interview, awesome project
Awesome. Can't wait to see it finished
I love that he picked a ls for this build its a great engine for this build as it can be used to make a lot of power and its genrally reliable
this is absolutely incredible. such a cool idea to 3d print smaller sections of the panel and then join them toghether
I'm still amazed at what people will take on as projects and have the discipline to pursue to the end while learning new skills and earning huge respect by other craftpersons and arm chair dreamers. Kudos!
Absolutely amazing piece of work and the fact that Lamborghini is supporting the project is awesome. That's good marketing right there!!
Waht an awesome project! WOW ❤❤
What an awesome story. Builders helping each other, Lamborghini stepping up, a father and son team. I hope to do something like this with my children.
This is absolutely incredible!!! Really shows that if you put your mind to it, anything is possible! And shoutout to Lamborghini for sponsoring this!!, this is EXACTLY how innovation is Pushed! This could even end up becoming part of there build design process in the future. All around and insanely cool project!
A-Mazing! Cudos to everyone working on this - including Lamborghini for being cool and even helpful with this. Amazing on all accounts! I wish more companies would act like this as imitation is the highest form of flattery!
What's really cool is that he gets to spend time with his kid doing something they both enjoy, and even helps teach the kid some useful life skills, like how to fix his own car! That and now know the joys and trials of 3d printing!
Lamborghini is soooo respectful! They were my favorite car brand and this just finishes it all. No cease and desist crap. 👏🏾👏🏾
This is absolutely wild. Just the dedication it takes to stick with a project of this scale nevermind the time and money.
Incredible case study. Great job 👍🏻
Incredible, kudos to everyone involved; including Lamborghini.
The fact that Lamborghini help out Is truly amazing. Love the car great work!
This is fantastic, and I'm incredibly surprised and impressed that Lamborghini supports it.
I was so amazed by how good the 3d printed body looked that I completely forgot about having to figure out the mechanics of making it an actual operating car. (which he did astonishingly well) If he really wanted to go crazy with this, he could turn it into an insane drag car with how light it is.
What a fun project! This one put a bigger smile than usual on my face. 😁
Literally gave me goose bumps!! Wow!! 👍🏽👍🏽
ive been following this for years wow it has come so far happy to see!
This is truly amazing.
This is so sick omg. My admiration for both 3D printing and Lamborghini went way up after this video.
Very, Very smart of the company to support him and not be negative.
Totally amazing work 👍👍👍
this is badass! also props to Lamborghini for supporting them
I always love how Lamborghini is so open-minded about all of these things, even supporting creators like this respectable artist here.
It somehow makes me wish that I want to work with Lamborghini, sharing my drawings and designs for them.
Amazing project but I loved it! Congratulations you're the best !
I smiled throughout the video, what a story and props to Lamborghini!
Heck yeah this is so cool and Lamborghini being so cool to help out 🤩
Lamborghini is amazing for supporting such an awesome project!
absolutely beautiful, love it
Such an amazing project and await his progress.
Absolutely incredible!!
That's ABSOLUTELY AWESOME
Let’s see more of this car. I have wanted 3D printed parts for a long time.
Wow that is such a great video and project!!!
Been following his project since the start. Very cool.
