    Thank you much for posting this. I fly SEA-PEK-CTU in a few weeks via Hainan and had concerns about navigating PEK. I am not checking any baggage, so this eases my mind a little more. Very helpful!

      rainier53094 Hainan Airlines use terminal 2 for international flight and terminal 1 for domestic flight. This video is about Terminal 3, so I don't think this is what you are looking for. T1 and T2 are older and smaller terminal that's easier to navigate. Just walk through the corridor connecting T1 and T2 after passing immigration and costume for transferring to a Hainan domestic leg.

      Correct. Sorry that I posted my response in the wrong place.

      Thank you Brant. I appreciate it, for all the negative things I've heard of PEK it really looks stunning. I have 5 hours outbound and 3 hours on the return to explore.

    • @zliu4208
      @zliu4208 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      T2 is quite small, so there won't be much to explore. However, Hainan just opened their new VIP lounge in T2 today. If you flied with their business class you might have the chance to enjoy their new lounge. Though, I am not sure what kind of passengers are identified as VIP by Hainan airline.

    Thank you for posting this! Going to Bangkok by Beijing. Have the only 1.30min for change with two kids and wife:). Still bit confused if we will be able to manage everything on time. Do we need to do the landing card all of us? Any advice of you yet how to make a possible quick change? Both flyes are Air China on terminal 3.

      You have enough time. It should be fast as you only need to pass security. No need to fill the immigration card.

      Many western social media websites are banned in China, have been for years. All you need is a VPN or if you are roaming, nothing is blocked. Every airport in the world has heavy security for several years now.

    I will be traveling from Almaty, Kazakhstan to PEK and 12 hours later I catch a flight to the United States of America. If my luggage is not checked in Kazakhstan all the way to the USA and I have to pick up the luggage in PEK will I need a Chinese visa for the 12 hours I am in the airport but not necessarily in the secured area? I do not plan to leave the airport but may have to leave the secure area to pick up luggage and then immediately go back into the airport secure area to check in the luggage for the USA flight.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can transit visa-free but getting an entry permit is at the discretion of the immigration officer. In your case, you'll get one and can do a quick tour in the city if you wish.

    Hello! Iam traveling to Okinawa and I will have a 2hr and 40 min layover in beijing. It looks like my landing and departure will both be in terminal 3. I have never traveled internationally before, is this enough time to get to my next flight? Do I still need to go through customs if its in the same terminal?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The minimum connect time is one hour so you should be fine. No need to pass through immigration and customs. See in the video where we show where to go for international transfers. Make sure that your luggage is checked all the way through.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As you can see in the video, you pass immigration first, then you pick up your luggage and finally you pass customs (nothing to declare channel). Same as most countries.

    Another great vid; it's a shame more people don't give you a thumbs up, as I am sure they benefited from the info.! Questions 1. do all international flights arrive at Terminal 3? Is the access to the Airport Express on the same floor as the ticket kiosk? What metro station does the Airport Express connect with? I also think a vid showing how to get to domestic terminals from the metro would be helpful. Thanks again!

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. The terminals in PEK are not organized based on international or domestic. It is based on the airline. If you wish to know at which terminal an airline lands, check on the airport website. The airport Express entrance gate and the trains are just next to the ticket kiosk that you see in the video. At 3m38sec we moved the camera left towards the tracks.

    • @mg-7047

    So for 144 hour visa free exemption, you don't need to fill out form here at immigration but do it at your hotel?
    Do we need to take any form, or all hotels should have the forms?
    Excellent video to show where to go especially bank ATMs.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the visa exemption, you have to fill a blue form that you pick up at the airport. The hotel has nothing to do with the visa exemption.

    i arrive in PEK from LAX. I have a 2hr 10 min layover in PEK to go to SHE (Shenyang). I will not be checking in any bags. I will carry on my bag on the plane. Is that enough time? Also! For transfer flight like mine, where will be the SIM card booth? Thank you!

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends. Are both flights in the same terminal? If yes and your first flight is on time then should be fine. The SIM card booth in T3 is in the luggage area. In T2 it is in the main hall.

  • @Ilovemsaimee

    We will be traveling from Newark and have a layover at the end of the month in Beijing for around 3 1/2 hours before we travel onto Bangkok. When we get off the AirChina plane what will we have to do exactly? I know this gives an overview but I’m worried about specifics. Assuming we will not have to re- check our luggage as we are flying AirChina the entire trip. Do I have the order correct? Gather the landing card, go to international transfer, go through immigration temperature scanner, then immigration security check then we are free to go to our gate?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your luggage should be checked all the way. You do not need a landing card as you are in transit. You follow the crowd to immigration but rather than going through immigration, you just pass security on the left as shown on the video then head to your gate. Very simple.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This video is about terminal 3. You need to check where your flight lands. could be at terminal 2. If it is at terminal 3 then the video shows you where to go for an international transfer. Regarding your luggage, impossible for me to tell. you need to check with your airline.

    If I have a connecting flight all in T3, I can avoid immigration and customs correct? How long does going through security usually take? Do you think 2 hours is enough to catch my next flight to Tokyo?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 hours should be plenty of time. Hard to say how long security will take as it depends on how many people are waiting. No need to pass immigration if you connect in the same terminal. We show this in the video.

    I have 8 hours layover in Beijing before flying to Jakarta. Can i get free visa? Is there things to di for kids in the airport? Do i have to get my baggage and recheck it? Or will be transfer to the next flight?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For luggage we have no idea. You need to check with your airline as it depends. Nothing special for kids at the airport. Nearly all nationalities can transit visa-free for transits of less than 24 hours. However, there are some exceptions, depends on your passport.

    Hello. We are flying Air China from the USA to PEK then to Tokyo. We do not need to go to immigration correct, just security? Does that change if we check luggage? I do not think we can check it through, and I have not decided if we will check our bags, as our connection time is only 1 hour and 40 mins.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, you only need to go through security. Your luggage should be checked through.

    • @elizabethsabatini9015
      @elizabethsabatini9015 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not how I understand the Air China website. It seems to be saying baggage is checked through via Beijing to other domestic cities so since we are connecting on to Japan I think if we checked bags we would need to collect them and go through the whole process.

    I arrive in PEK and on-going into Delhi, do I just go to the transfer desk or the whole immigration security process, I have a 5 hour layover arrival @ 530pm.. it would be wise not to leave the airport?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will probably not allow you to leave the airport. If you next flight is in the same terminal then you go to the departure area after passing security.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends. It depends whether your luggage is checked through and whether both flights are in the same terminal. s you can see in this video at the 55 second-mark, it is possible in terminal 3 to go directly to your next gate after passing security.

    will be taking air china, arriving PEK terminal 3 on international flight to transfer to domestic flight also located at terminal 3, connection time is only 1 hr 45mins. I am worried the connection time wouldn't be enough. what would be the procedures?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends if your luggage is checked through. If it is not then this is super tight. You need to exit to the main hall as shown in the video then you go upstairs to check-in your flight. If your luggage is checked through then after passing immigration, you go downstairs where you pick up luggage but you go directly to domestic connections, as shown in the video.

    • @xiulanwu6563

      Thanks for your good comment. Understand that this video is about terminal 3. Hainan airlines' international flights arrive in terminal 2 and their domestic flights depart from terminal 1. So you will not be able to proceed to your domestic gate directly as in this video. It is a short walk between these two terminals. Terminal 2 is smaller than terminal 3 shown in this video. But I believe that you have plenty of time between flights.

    This is the worst Airport I've ever been too, security at immigration are massively over aggressive, shouting at you all the time, it's like your first day in prison or something, then there is the fact there is literally nothing to do here, it's huge but just boring as hell, we did not see a single store where you could buy snacks, drinks etc other than a few Costa Coffee and a KFC and a Pizza Hut, they did have these vending machines that did not take card only Chinese currency, or We chat which no one uses outside of China, I mean seriously if you fly through Beijing to another country why would you have Chinese currency? I went to a Costa Coffee in the end and asked for a coke (which they sell at my local) and the girl laughed in my face which I found very odd,avoid this airport at all cost It's just not tourist friendly at all.
