    Great Video, just what I was after. Sold my Boss RC300 for new ipad for this exact reason. Its so good to see a video designed more for Guitarists rather than the plethora of EDM / Electronic users out there using the ipad

    Nice tutorial 👍🏻 I did have some challenges getting the Live Loops to work correctly at first - they are very finicky - but after finally getting the hang of it I’m finding them quite addictive now and a great way to initiate some song ideas that can be easily recorded to tracks. Once you learn the process, it works very well and is actually better, IMO, than a guitar looper pedal because you can see your loops with this. Pay particularly close attention to the navigation steps he shows beginning at the 4:20 timestamp if you have any issues. 👍🏻

    Great tutorial. Can you show us how you would use it in a gigging scenario? Wouldn’t it be amazing that GarageBand had a midi learn function where you could plug a pedal board into it to turn off/on effects an loops for a live playing atmosphere? When are they going to make main stage for iPad???.??

    Hey Dan! So glad I found your channel. I've been staring at the garageband for ages not doing the inherent amazing stuff one could do with it!!!! As a hobby muso, I only remember doing multi track recordings in my teens on pro equipment. Now one can do all that and more on an ipad!!! I have a keyboard that has a USB out to device but I notice iRig Pro I/O supplies a 5 pin MIDI to 2.5mm jack (which is on the iRig). Can I buy and use a generic USB to mini jack cable to transmit the info from keyboard ipad garageband via iRig Pro? Haven't bought anything yet as I'm trying to figure our what is best for sketching out songs for singers to learn

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mylene Gomes hi Mylene! I’m not sure on the USB to mini jack and whether it’s compatible, I’m afraid. I’d have thought the USB cable needs to see the correct voltages from the iPad in order to work. You can buy a converter from USB to Lightning for use with the iPad, but don’t buy anything that isn’t genuine Apple- it won’t work!

    Wow! Really great video Dan, thank you ☺ you really explain and show this in such a fun and intuitive way!
    Question..
    Lets say i do what you did, with lots of different cells that i then can use to build a complete songmix. how do i finally get that composition out to a track. wil itl be "bounced" to a audio file?? And then put into a track? Afraid i am a bit lost there.

    Is there no way to quantise while recording a loop?

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think in iOS 12 there may be a way to quantise audio (not ios11), but if you use a GB sound to record a loop, you can quantise in the usual way. You can tap on a region, and a white menu pops up, with quantising options.
