Wow, this was incredibly helpful. I'm a GarageBand desktop user and I've really struggled to get decent guidance on mastering. This tutorial was great and I simply applied the same tips within the desktop application and now my recordings are far better. I had a tendency to oversaturate and try to master within song projects, often ending up with really muddy mixes that just didn't sound great in Apple Music. This has been a game changer for me! Was going to spring for the AudioMaster Pro app but after watching this, I really don’t think it’s necessary. Now my tracks pop! 😀 The explanations and best uses of the AULimiter, compression, and LRC5 are very helpful, man. 👍🏻

So I’ve downloaded audio share. 😁 On GarageBand side of mastering I’ve left a second or so at the beginning of my track etc etc. However once I’ve sent it over to Audio share I trimmed my track etc now my track plays instantly on pressing play! Hey there. So I tend to leave about 0.5 to 1.0 seconds at the start. Mostly because some players and streaming platforms have a slight delay and fade in at the start.

What is the difference between doing this after exporting the song or doing it without exporting it (mastering it with the master track)??? The exporting file has to be without any compressor or limiters or eq right??? Thanks a lot!!!
Hey there. Yes; in both cases I am just using a mixed down stereo track and then applying mastering plugins to it. You can export the tracks and import in to a new session, or merge down to a new track - it does the same thing.
The Mv Meter 2 [free] and the Youlean loudness meter [free] help me get an idea of where I am at in OS GB. I just bought the 10.2 7th gen Ipad last week what a riot!! Thanks to Pete I came outta the gate nicely👍🏻
I think the good thing is to use the best tools for the job. If you are serious about making songs then you don't want to prove that you can do things with tools that are not so great. I am not saying garageband is bad, but I doubt that it's the best mastering app for iOS/ipadOS. There are people who are stuck on producing with garageband because it's free, but iOS apps are all so cheap. Thanks for yet another excellent video.
Agreed. You need to experiment sometimes to find out what works for you. As you probably know I’ve used a bunch of different mastering apps and find different methods and apps work well for different types of music and different applications. You’ll generally want to keep your volume lower when mixing so you have some headroom before mastering.
