Thank you for sharing. This is 6 years ago but still relevant. We migrated in 1982 but we haven’t been to Yellowknife at all. We are very interested to see the Northern Lights.
Fascinating stuff, thanks for sharing this. Alex is a rare combination of smarts, humor, and humility. I wonder if anyone up there has tried fishing for lost equipment that fell thru the ice over the years?
Hi Alex, I was married on Bush Pilots Monument in 1979. We were there for 2 yrs. I worked for Whissel Const. for Ken Kimble at Ken Kimbles School of Backhoe Ops. ha We may have crossed paths as I loaded many Robinson trucks. Spectacularly beautiful area but we found the cold a little much. Great vid and thanks for taking me back 40 yrs eeek!
We lived in YK for 3 years back in the early 90s (my hubby was a gold miner) - thanks for the tour again. It sure has changed! Your Dad is a great host in the videos.
I just love Alex' videos...and his views on religious faith...and also I believe he is a common sense true conservative...a very good man I am convinced. I think President Trump would like to spend some time with him...both very intelligent men. I always loved geography and though life's circumstances never allowed me travel...or money as such to see and do many things in this short life, (a personal note here now) but ever since I saw Annabella Piugattuk who should have won an Oscar for her first time acting work in 2004 in "The Snow Walker," a story with very much truth and beautiful historical and philosophical aspects to or in it...If I was youger and was able to I'd love, absolutely love to go to Nunavut(?) where she lives (I think) and meet her. She is incredible and whatever young man has her, he is among the happiest men in the country of Canada. I have been learning a bit about the far north from the northern states here in the U.S. from Wisconsin and Montana and my late sister, her husband, now gone after a long life, they lived since about 20 years old until in their 80's, traveling all over Canada and Alaska. I love these videos...I wish I knew Alex and maybe he'd go interview Annabella for all of us...she so intelligent and charming...beautiful. Me, an older guy falling in love with my favorite movie star and best movie ever (ON TH-cam too!) "The Snow Walker...makes you smile a lot and later breaks ones heart. Best to all. wl
Definitely visiting Yellowknife !!! I am a recreational pilot flying my experimental aircraft , and used to haul sticks and trusses with 18 wheelers . Now a semi retired carpenter . I would like to meet the man with the hearty laugh !!!!
I was so enjoying this film until you had to bring trump into it. Ruined the whole thing for me. Before you say it and call me a "snowflake", you are wrong. It is possible to be an intelligent and caring, blue collar outdoors type and still think trump is a horrible person and a devastatingly terrible and devisive POTUS.

Looks like the world hasn't found this treasure trove of videos yet. Pretty nice. Thanks for sharing. Very interesting.
I finally found it. Lol
I most certainly dig Alex. Him and Lisa were my Ice Road favourites. Humble man and always willing to help others.
Reality tv isn't reality
