Interesting to see The Cards catcher, Ted Simmons on this montage. An underrated power hitting catcher, who played in Benchs shadow. He hit .332 and had 100 Rbi in 1975, hit 20 to 25 hrs a year with 80 to 100 rbi. Underrated, and the Hall should take a good look at this guy. He hit wherever he played. St. Louis, Milwaukee, Atlanta. Good switch hitting catcher, with lifetime .285 avg.

when I was putting the video together I couldn't help but notice how much influence black American ball players had on the game...now they've almost disappeared. It's a shame

I think that pic is from game 3 or 4 of the 76 WS. The DH was used in the AL ballparks, Driessen was Cincy's DH for the 2 games in New York. The Reds thought that Driessen would be their next star, so they traded Tony Perez to Montreal and played him at first base the next season.

Steve Mcqueen Darrell Porter was good. Open stance, good power numbers. 1977 was his best season. If I'm not mistaken, he passed on at a young age.
