Ashens is a bit of an anomaly in TH-cam I believe, simply for the fact that he is a very intelligent man. There are other intelligent TH-camrs but dont usually end up being very popular. Also theres something great about watching a guy that is this intelligent eat 20 year old eggs.
@@jf1376 You just misunderstood. The OP is saying that it's unusual for someone intelligent to be this popular on TH-cam, (which actually is kind of a pretentious statement) Jack was just pointing out that Ashen's popularity is partially due to the fact that he's not trying to flaunt his intelligence, he's not particularly educational, he's making videos for entertainment. And the humour, consistency, and getting on it early are all compliments, signs that he is, in fact, intelligent and has clearly put some thought into it.
Jim Jam Banana Slam absolutely agree. Him playing around with junk and having an entertaining personality - it's really not about "intelligence" or "education"; I can't see, how someone would want to squeeze that in there. Anyway, it is true that "intelligent" (seriously, whatever that means. Is a physics channel "intelligent"? Is a food reviewing channel from a novel laureate "intelligente"??) channels rarely get as big as pewdiepie or idubbbztv etc., but I would propose, that people just search around for some keywords, because even though the algorithm might not favor them as much, there are many, *many* channels with hundreds of thousands to millions of subscribers with highly brilliant educational or entertaining content here on TH-cam. Maybe just try to not get your watching material from "trending", people!
Stuart A is just a nice, humble, well rounded guy in general. He realises how lucky he is, never disregards that and just has fun with the cards that were dealt him.
I found him while watching a review for a terrible console called the "Wireless60". He was in the recommendations. Only good thing TH-cam has recommended me.
ye same here. I had youtube on In the background playing video games (think it was skate 2). i think i just picked a video from the recommended bar and just kept playing the game. suddenly I heard a guy saying WLL WLL WLL and I had to go back and watch the whole video and from that moment I was hooked
"i made so much money from youtube i can nearly buy a sandwich" that was a good one. i admire ashens for how funny he is. he doesn't try too hard to be funny and its great.
Wahl Flower I've had the honour meeting him! I was just out shopping in pound land and there he was shopping for tat! lucky i live in same city as him! he is he same in real life such funny dude :)
This interview is really nice, most of the time he pretty much presents himself as his persona online, even on other channels, so it's nice to see a personal seeming interview like this. Also nice to know that he probably actually looked at the things I sent him 2 years ago even if I didn't get a response, lol
robster604 His may essentially be the same person as his persona. But his persona is a slightly exaggerated version of himself, he has said as much before.
This is suuuuuuuper old but, just in case anyone needs proof Ashens isn't a persona, the Beer Bread Oven of '13 is all you need to see hahahaha th-cam.com/video/Sfz9qlkzF40/w-d-xo.html
I think what makes Ashens special is his unique humorous approach and British sense of humor. He could review potatoes and would make them look interesting. And i like potatoes as much as the next man, but it takes a short of special charisma to communicate various content wich seems boring , yet manages to be fun.
It's crazy how after so many years, I lose interest in TH-camrs I'd follow strongly, simply due to my ever-changing interests, growing up and other such things. But Ashens is the one I stick by, among few others, and this video proved why. :') So humble & honest, but oh is he sharp witted. You gotta love that!
Great interview, really nice to hear that he is how I thought he was if that makes sense. Nothing worse than watching someone interviewed to find their onscreen personality is not really them and it’s a big effort to keep it up. Seems like a totally lovely guy and I’d love to sit and hear him go on about almost anything over a pint of five 😸
Greetings Ashens Ash, if you read any comments this year, let it be this one! He is without doubt one of the most entertaining people on youtube at the moment. And it proves that fancy editing, a huge budget and gimmicks aren't needed when talking about something that genuinely interests you.
Always liked Ashens. Out of all TH-camrs, he's the one that always struck as being the most down to earth. Never let it go to his head and never indulged in bulllshit TH-cam Drama. Just a funny dude who does what he does and does it well.
Really enjoyed hearing Ashen's account of his youtube experience. Would be great to see some more of those types of interviews with other youtube personalities.
Your reaction when you realize up to this day, all Ashens does is making another video to prove his very first video was done by him and to check if the new video is still more popular than the last.
I love the potato/celery comments! I understand why people segregate their content that way but if I like someone I usually like to watch all their different kinds of content.
Terrible Old Video Games You've Probably Never Heard Of was a great book. Plus, I'd never heard of Unbound before, and they have tons of great books on there, so that was a bonus. But what I really want to know is what is in that Awesome box on Shelf 24.
I try to avoid the minecraft videos on the yogscast channel... they do have great commentry and some great comedy though so sometimes I do get into some of their minecraft series, but at this point I just don't really want to watch minecraft anymore. it's getting really boring. Love this interview! I'd like to see more serious videos from ashens! :)

Who else thinks he should be a narrator? His voice draws people in almost like Morgan Freeman
He kind of is.
If he did a book on tape (idk what there called now) I would totally listen to it
justin rivera Audiobook is the term safe against obsolescence.
+AgentTasmania I mean for documentaries
He was the narrator for Ninja The Mission Force.
One thing I've gleaned from his channel is that his aunt is often giddy.
Indeed, he has a very giddy aunt ... :)
stil hasn't reviewed apples piles of crap
you have won comment of the day
That's because they are too bad, even for Ashens.
Jesus Leto hmmm maybe it would make everything else look like bars of gold in comparison
an excellent interview
surgeoner I see what you did there.
I forget sometimes Ashens is a doctor of psychology until I hear him talk at length on topics like these.
woahhh no way

Hah. Okay.
Yeah, it's just fun knowing that a guy with a Doctorate in psychology spends his days reviewing tat and torturing his digestive system.

Who knew he wasn't just floating hands and a voice
Perhaps they rigged up a prosthetic body for him?
I thought he was a brown sofa.
This guy is just a low paid actor whi is being dubbed by the real Ashens

Ashens has such a relaxing voice. He should do audiobooks.
It's nice to hear a youtuber that can articulate proper english.
loved listening to him talk about this stuff, he's super smart.
Yeah, seems like a smart guy and would be nice to have a pint with. Probably a horrendously out of date pint, but never mind...
He has a PhD in Psychology.

Ashens doesn't script his videos? I've watched him for years and always thought he did!
That's comedy talent right there.
the only thing he does is just editing but his commentary is off the cuff
I met him once and you can tell he doesn't script- he's that funny off the cuff in real life
every new ashens video is like a delicious kinder egg
and there seems to be a kinder egg in every new ashens video

Absolutely fascinating and enjoyable. Quite interesting to find out about the background to him and his thoughts on related subjects.
What a rather charming fellow
What a legend, always had a good flow of quality funny content.
I would honestly love it if Ashens made a video everyday
An excellent interview 👍🏻👌🏻
Happy 15 years on TH-cam, Ashens :)
Gorgeous accent. The brown couch set is kind of unique. Low overhead.
Every youtube drama queen needs to quiet the fuck down and be more like Stuart, a gentleman and scholar and madman of the most entertaining kind.

Ashens is awesome!!! He was one of the first channels I ever subscribed to back in 2012 and I've been a fan of his content ever since. (:

There was no-one. Just a tailors dummy dressed up as Michael Parkinson.
So slightly more animate than Michael Parkinson?
I still remember the old pop station videos xD I love your channel I have been watching basically since the beginning keep doing what your doing :D
That was a delight. He is a very charming man who could make an empty sofa interesting.
