Unexpected results! Some months ago i was thinking to buy this dmm in future(i liked it's screen), thanks to your review i'm glad that i didn't. :) Thank you for this video!
Long live the King,.. Long live my WinApex ET8102 !! The better similiar metters is Aneng M20 (normal lcd) or Mustool MT109 (inverted lcd) all 9999 counts. But it's not big difference 5999 n 9999 counts display. The precision is still the same. The proskit pcb holder is nice. I should buy it before thinking of a new multimeter. Or make it from wood on holiday :D Thanks for the review..
Great idea with the fuse Darren Could not see the display at all on low power, maybe a camera issue. Don't think I'll be adding this one to my collection. Best wishes from Northern Ireland.
You and me both Derek! Display was completely illegible save for a very very faint outline...completely ludicrous..Thanks for the kudos...I can't see spending money on fuses for this dmm so this should suffice. Cheers mate!
My sentiments exactly ! I use the 8101 all the time and it has none of the annoying hangups the 8104 experiences. Too bad really, I thought this was going to be one tough cookie in the CHEAP-O realm...!
I have this multimeter for very basic use. The bad thing about it is that it shuts down even when running very quickly even when working. I'm still using UT61E from uni-t.
Hello Mr. Walker, first of all I would like to thank you for the great job done. I noticed there is a very similar multimeter from MUSTOOL Brand model Mt108t and MT109, both models seem better in quality. Would it be possible to test them? They are also CHEAP-O Multimeters and they may surprise us all. Cheers!! 😀
Hi Darren this may be a dumb question but if you replaced the fuse with a 1Amp 250V 20mmx5mm fuse would the multimeter be able to read close to 1 amp as stated in the specifications?
Not a dumb question at all. In theory, yes it should work if the multimeter specifications are valid. But, don't quote me on that as I haven't verified 😕 🙃
@@Jose-Ribeiro I haven't done a review on them...yet! 😀 but they certainly seem to be genuine Flukes..though Chinese made the quality is still very high.
Hi Joe, I'm loving the UNI-T UT890D+ !! It's just an all around great multimeter and it found a permanent spot on my bench! It is a Manual Ranging DMM though so it might dissuade some people. Habotest HT118A is another solid contender in the full size multimeter category. Finally, the small UNI-T UT123 is another great choice if you can live without current measurements. 😁👍
Eu tenho um winapex 8104 Veio com apenas 1 fusível no lado esquerdo da frente do multímetro. Tento testar capacitância e não consigo uma leitura boa Não sei porque
Ive got a couple/three variants of this meter in the mustool brand and theyre generally pretty good meters, but my MT109 with same display has the same nagging shutdown situation, leads me think they know battery life is very short - its the most annoying thing about the meter. These can be very good meters, too bad they put in such a nice display and shortchanged it with crippled ranges an inadequate NCV antenna and sloppy PCB assembly. I have a Mustool 108N that has started showing the COB chips shadow through the display window, not sure how that came to be but really bugs me since the meter is great otherwise. Cheapo meters often come with some less than favorable traits, just goes with the territory.
It's a pity that WinAPEX pushed this one out the door...I'd be surprised if it's a one off but I don't think so..as you say the nagging shutdown was incredibly annoying and rendered the meter basically useless it also shutdown randomly twice while running tests...just a poor overall end-user experience. The display looks amazing but unfortunately it ends there. Putting in a 630mA fuse on a 999mA rated meter is pure bullocks too! Shame on you WinAPEX!
Good review! But that's one nasty looking board. One of these days I'm going to have to pick up a meter with a reverse LCD display, maybe the Richmeter in your video would be a good one for me to get. Mainly because I think it will look good in videos, but I also want to see for myself what they look like in the desert sun at noon in the middle of summer. Oh, and on a side note, I finally got the Bside ACM91 and put it through some tests. It's a great little meter, the current clamp works good in AC and DC mode and all the other functions are right in line with what I'd expect. It will be a great little meter for my when I start working on my A/C this winter, it does all the needed ranges and has LoZ. Thanks again for reviewing it.
Thx Chuck. The Richmeters is a very nice dmm, the display is the best in its class thus far ..never get tired of looking at it! Glad the clamp is working out...lots of functionality there.
Did you expect a Fluke like build quality out of a 10$ multimetre? It's surprising while you keep most of the time telling how well it works and reach to the conclusion it's cheap-o, I wouldn't qualify it as cheap-o but cheap. It does most of its job reliably and you get it for an incredible price.
CHEAP-O is respective to price only. It's got nothing to do with performance or reliability. He'll no..it's no Fluke but it doesn't need to be either. If you actually watch any of my multimeter reviews over the past 7 years you'll see one of the few channels who loves CHEAP-O MULTIMETERS 👍
dang! i have WinApex ET8102, use it as my bench meter and i love it. was thinking to "upgrade" it to this one, but thanks to you Sir, i would not, that would be a "downgrade", i guess.. btw, any chance to do a review of PeakMeter MS8236 / PM8236, Sir? that meter looks interesting..
Indeed, this WinAPEX was a real disappointment... Peakmeter MS8236 looks like an interesting multimeter..I've just ordered one for review! Thanks for watching

May be all the three are the same multimeters.
BUT
At least they likely used the Dream Tech chip, so we can play a bit with the serial memory.
Thx.
WinApex ET8101/2 is also one of my favs..incredibly fast continuity and oh so sweet range selector switch. Great all around dmm!

What a bummer. That's too bad because I have the WinApex E8101, and I really like that model it's one of my favorite cheap meters.

Thanks for the feedback 😀 it's definitely got its quirks. UT61E is a definite workhorse!

Please do a review on the WinApex ET 8203 (TRMS AC/DC Clamp Meter). I think its equal to the Mustool X1, Aneng ST 209 and Tasi TA8315D.
That looks like an interesting clamp! I've just ordered one for review. Thanks for the suggestion.
Great. Thanks. The Fluke test probes that you recomend in the description are really Fluke? You reviewed them?

hello, im planning to buy winapex et8101, is it a good choice?
Where the current shunt resistor?
Any thoughts on the relative function? It work on both voltage and resistance?
It works in Resistance mode only. It's always a nice addition to any multimeter.😄👍
