Guel being caught in a crossfire, realizes it's no longer those school duels he frequently fought. It's a matter of life or death, being faced with his mortality and pushing past it. Dude shows he is an ace pilot to reckon with.
How tragic he finally proves how strong he is to his old man, managing to get his approval and a sliver of affection from him, but in Gundam fashion, truly.
Yeah, the way he used to brag about his skill during duel and then facing a real battle of life & death while screaming he didnt want to die is so sad. Big L for Bob.

The Gundam's control interface pumps a lot of data into the pilot, that what gives a Gundam pilot an edge on the battlefield over other mobile suits. The problem is that nearly everyone who pilots a Gundam cannot raise they Permet Score past 2 without suffering intense pain and serious health risks. A Premet Score of 4 will shorten one's life span. Eri and Sulleta would be considered this universe's New Types because they can handle a higher Permet Score, Eri being able to sync completely, and Suletta surviving a Permet Score of 8, with a 3 year recovery afterwards.
The "If you run ,gain one.Move forward,gain two" is definitely a sleeper callsign for suletta

while move forward may win back husband, certainly when you have to survive in all situations

remember how Prospera looked when realizing Eri is the only one who can fully control Lfrith? Yeah... somewhere along that line.
The theme of parenthood in this episode is so complex and contrasting! The seemingly loving nature of Prospera-Suletta turns to be the only one that dragged the child into bloodshed with blood-stained right hand; the seemingly negligent relationship of Delling-Miorine turns out to the most twisted, convoluted parent-child relationship; while the most unilateral affection from Guel to Vim took a U-turn as Vim only rejoiced at finding Guel instead of grimacing over the loss of his life or power.
I like how Nika is also at a crossroads following her scene... The most disturbing part should be how Suletta's eyes became dull and lifeless after she clasped the hand touched by Prospera, like being enchanted/brainwashed by the "lullaby" of "you gain one by running away, but gain two by moving forward".
One intriguing detail is that Suletta was in the "dark" before "stepping into the light" after touching Prospera's hand. Not sure if this symbolizes the "bearing of the curse of the Gundam" or "baptized by bloodshed". After all, I do not recall seeing Prospera ever in a dark scene.
I think the scene of Suletta preparing to face Sophie and then pushing Sophie out of Plant Quetta is kind of similar to Banagher's initial fight scene against Marida and her Kshatriya in Industrial 7. Like how Banagher was "protected" by Cardeas Vist, Suletta was also protected by Aerial; yet like how Marida was created to be a war machine, Suletta was also being "pushed into the battle".
Suletta being in the "dark" means that Suletta can choose to avoid fighting and bloodshed but would ultimately lose everything (losing Aerial to Sophie and Miorine to the terrorist). "Stepping into the light on the bloodied path" would mean that she gets to protect both (and killing people if it comes to it) but it would be a difficult path to take.
I love how the theme develops from light-hearted high school life to startup business fight for establishing company to the real war.
This is where the REAL Gundam plot truly begins

I wonder if prospera has actually trained suletta as a killing machine for her own agenda since the beginning. She then placed a hypnotic lock to seal that part of her to better integrate her into the academy and this episode, she undid the lock allowing her to kill again.
Hypnotic locks usually use a verbal phrase or certain gestures by the hypnotist to undo, and guess what? Maybe sulletta's catchphrase is the very thing that does it. Prospera seems to be putting lots of emphasis to it.
The catchphrase seems more like a command execution unit. Once used, whatever deed is mentioned becomes a must-follow directive.
Here's the command for you to join the school.
Here's the command for you to paint a massive target on your back.
Here's the command for you to start killing people.
Other than that, you're damn right. That isn't Eri. She never was.
I dunno about that, her catchphrase looks like a harmless motivational push and i don't think prospera's voice flips the killswitch either so it can't be like Andrew Ryan's "Would you kindly....."
Good thought, at the very least,we know she has become very good at compartmentlizing trauma.
I always have a theory that the whole "one if you run, two if you push forward" motto thingy kinda brainwash suletta to do things she doesn't really want to do, but it feels more direct in this episode with suletta being afraid seeing her mother kills to suddenly being totally ok after squashing people.

I felt the same. That's why it's so weird to have the OST playing the opening theme when she said that, as if it's a main character glow-up moment.
That final scene was really...something. I couldn't even believe what we just saw, this is probably by far one of the most graphic human death from a mobile suit. When Aerial raised her hand I genuinely was thinking just what could a mobile suit of that size do to stop what was going to happen, maybe shield Miorine with her hand (which I am pretty sure has been done before, maybe in another mecha series I've watched but I can't remember), i didn't expect THAT at all. And when that "splat" happened I genuinely just mirrored Miorine's expression, I was THAT shocked too. We've seen people get vaguely crushed (usually as colleteral damage rather than intentional) and other times just giant laser beams destroying whole fleets, but the issue with that is that it become the spectacle itself (*cough* gundam seed), you don't actually realize just how many people are DYING, which is something a lot of the franchise loses sight on, because "wow cool robot!"
Suletta's (or rather, Elnora's) mantra that pushed her forward in the beginning of the series (and prior in the novel) has finally reared it's ugly head.
"If you run away, you gain one, if you move forward, you gain two", it is a novel mantra in itself, but it has twisted to become something much worse
If protecting the ones you love means to kill, then perhaps "moving forward", is to kill. To Suletta, that was the answer she was told, that if people need to be killed to protect her loved ones, then she will kill, not realizing just what she's actually doing. People become less as "people", but the obstacle she has to push through, and it's precisely that mantra that's already bringing her to a path of bloodshed.
A lot of really symbolic moments, like in 16:58 when Prospera reaches out her hand after justifying her reason to kill, Suletta would mirror that exact same pose to Miorine at 23:38, to which Miorine has an appropriate reaction: for it's an offer to a path of bloodshed.
18:35 Sophie actually says something something quite metaphorical here, "that's a scary face you got, if you asked me, i liked you better before!" You could say that she just meant that she liked the original aerial's face before, but from a literary POV it could also refer to the fact that Suletta and Aerial have both "become scary" (especially so in the post-credits scene)
From a design perspective, the Aerial Rebuild in contrast to the original also reinforces this idea, the "V" crown piece is angled more aggressively, the limbs and general design has striven away from it's rounded edges (which design-wise makes for softer looks) to one with more angular edges all over.
There is also a notable lack of primary colours, with much of the yellow on the main body gone and with the blue darkened and desaturated, it's night and day when looking at the MS profiles for their designs
also in 19:36, one of Aerial's engineers point out something that seems very redundant but again it reinforces the entire symbolism of GUND-ARM
"it's not made for combat, but it's still that powerful?"
Reminder again that originally the GUND format was originally for medical purposes, but as time progressed people eventually realized it's potential for mobile suits
An originally pure intention, distorting into something scarier
Just like Aerial and Suletta, once pure and full of a novel hope, turning into something far worse. Fueled by her "wishes", the witch would very well be steered to kill, all for the sake of protecting those "wishes".
Man what an amazing finale, this is by far my favourite Gundam AU ever, I can't wait for just what the team will do for the second season!

Most graphic huh... What's the others again? Victory vaporising women in swimsuit with beam saber, a women carrying a baby got hit by a falling casing from a mobile suit, couple of pilot got their body torn up in half, hmm, what's the others, anyone remember, I need to know which is more graphic

Hopefully season 2 won't be a promise neverland or darling in the franxx scenario cause this series is actually really cool
I have to say this is one of the best GUNDAM episodes out there. The transition from training / play ground to war is awesome. Yes it can be dark but this is just perfect. Hats off to the creators of this masterpiece.
The music when the Aerial Rebuild starts up for the battle is so good. I got chills from that music alone

the last scene reminded me of Eri using her gundam like a toy when she was 4 yrs old in the prologue. just incredible. the foreshadowing is strong in this one.
This is a PEAK of Gundam anime. Story, character design, mecha design, animation and musics they are all 10/10 🤯
Only have some problems for the characters, especially Elan. They look like they will play a role but they end up not doing much

Everyone talking about how Suletta got bloody this episode (not say how exactly as to not spoil it) but I'M here to point something ELSE out instead: The design changes to the Aerial. Let me explain: Let's put OG Aerial next to rebuild OK? What is the first thing you noticed? I'll tell you what I noticed. how much more geometric and angular rebuild is compared to OG Aerial...kinda like how human facial features sharpen as we get older....I think you can get what I'm saying. The rebuild's design is a subtle way as to say "Things are gonna get a lot darker" if the whole assassination thing wasn't obvious enough.
I expected Suletta would just go aim for the gun or push the guy a bit and make him unconscious. But no, she wanted to make a hot and filling tomato soup for her beloved waifu. Now here goes Mio-Mio eating all that PTSD.

Suletta could be even worse than Mika in terms of psychological integrity. At least Mika would still ask how many more he has to kill in order to reach their goal. Suletta, on the other hand, just completely shuts down. She's kind of like what Banagher warned against.

Thank you for posting the series for free! I'm a Gundam fan so naturally I was going to watch this series anyways but DAMN; didn't expect it to be so good.
That escalated quickly, especially the end credit scene... Well if Suletta didn't squashed the terrorist, MioMio will die with her father. Yes, Aerial can block the terrorist with it's hand but remember Elnora portrayed to Suletta that if she didn't kill the terrorists in the hangar 78, Suletta will die. So in Suletta's innocent mind she had to kill the terrorist to save MioMio. Also during the Hangar 78 scene Elnora is smiling and happy that she saved Suletta, so Suletta just mimicked Elnora after saving MioMio

also the entire sequence of Guel genuinely panicking for his dear life is a very refreshing take on the usual gung-ho attitude of past protags in battle, it's not a "I can't die here, not now" in the cool one-liner sense, it's genuinely one out of pure fear for their own life as they become aware that it could end in moments

Probably something you've heard said in many of the series in this franchise, but most of the time the ethics of killing another never gets brought into the focus again
We're shown that the Earthian terrorists have blown up things, and kill a bunch of people, Gundam sometimes gets into the problem of "bad guys die = good", and as the spectacles get flashier enemy mobile suits become nothing more than glorified fireworks (Kira is especially guilty of this)
Before the original gundam became a "hero of the week fighting a new bad guy of the week", Tomino had always wanted to express the brutality of war, behind every explosion, a pilot dies, and usually our protagonists have to come to gripes with just what they're doing, despite the fact that (most) of the time, they have to kill as an act of self defence
It's really refreshing to see this not be glorified, as with most shows do, Suletta (and many more characters you can think of in fiction) kill, believing that they're "saving" someone, a very idealistic and romanticised way of viewing war, not realising what they are actually doing (Suletta just committed second-degree murder if you're curious)
The scariest part of this scene isn't necessarily the death itself, it's from just how indifferent Suletta is to the fact that she just brutally murdered another human being, and worst still, that with that mantra of hers, she believes that what she did was the right thing.
The worst part is that she smile like it was nothing. When you kill someone, even as an act of self defense, you will gonna feel remorse of what you've done. Like in the same season anime, arknight, where FMC amiya kill one of the enemy in spite of danger to MC doctor. But look at this red headed tomato tanuki, wtf she just smile and of course miorine would be crazed like that
The silent moment when Dilanza Sol exploded really got me
It's not the killing that disturbed the life out of me, it's the aftermath of the killing that did. Like she didn't even blinked about it, and us viewers know why that's the case, but for poor Miorine... Oh I just hope she could ask for an explanation for such behavior
Now probably they should never miss with her during all those mock battle by those bullies!

Prospera is definitely a villain if not the series main villain. I knew I shouldn't have trusted a masked person. She definitely sees Suletta (and Aerial) as a puppet/weapon for her own revenge plot. Bob was hit the hardest this season. My dude didn't get a break since that duel with Suletta. Hope he can overcome his anguish & come out stronger next time we see him.

With new group, how will the politics in the show develop, given that the situation we now face on all fronts?

At the end of the episode it is just so much, the wailing background, the sounds of the bits attaching and the overwhelming power of the aerial is just amazing. But then we have to sit through an episode on startup business strategy for people who have so much money their children can literally play soldier just for advertising and exposure of companies, I really can't decide if I like this side story.
Hands down, potentially the best modern Gundam series ever written, can’t wait for the 2nd season

man this episode is heavy, Delling risked his life to protect his daughter, Guel accidentally killed his dad, Nika's betrayal is exposed, and the most disturbing of all Suletta has no remorse in killing people to protect her loved ones, she has become a YANDERE!

I mean don't get me wrong, I'd be terrified of Suletta too after seeing her squash a bad guy and smile, but I wouldn't call her a murderer.
Would I call Suletta crazy ? Sure. Murderer ? Not really considering the guys who invaded would shoot anyone on sight.
Just remember that she did not really have time to think. Her brain is high on adrenaline and the words just blurbed out of her mouth. So not not be to harsh on Miorines choice of words.
I like how Suletta's gundam resembles her character arc perfectly. Aerial Rebuild definitely gives me the vibe of a cold-blooded killer that kills "evil" in the name of justice.
