This may actually be one of my favorite MORR videos of all time. Between the shear absurdity of it, and knowing that it was Matt's visceral skill at sand-walking which kept that short bus on its skis. Fully sent bus == win. Props to you all also for resisting the urge to pop the sign and flash the lights. Get that stuff cleared out!. Can't wait to see this in action. And yes... I *may* be checking ticket prices and looking at rental jeeps for the games for my son and I.

One of the things I love about this channel is that it’s really really good, but the production values are not “slick”. It’s so genuine. But the “slickest” - and funniest edit I have ever seen here is the adorable little kids that Matt forgot to drop off. That was PERFECT!! Many fist bumps to whoever 1) thought that up 2) did the edit. With all the great vids from MORR this year, this might be my favorite.

The ending was great! One of my best buddies owned a school bus company (just sold it so he could retire) and I will have to show this to him. Having little ones left over at the end of a run is not a good thing, but it happens, and Matt's reaction says it all besides being extremely hilarious. And the look on the kids faces was so precious and hilarious.
My mother was a bus driver and I remember the end of run clean out. That, "Oh no" busted me up so hard. I was laughing so hard, I was in tears. Thank you MORR team.

I am a 32 year veteran school bus driver. I was horrified, fascinated, and laughing my a-- off for this whole ride! Finding kids left on the bus at the end of the day is a bus driver's nightmare, but very funny in a video. I wish I could get out there for the games.
The end was epic, with the kids in the back. Amazing how well the bus did. I was wondering if it has a limited slip rearend by the way it went through the sand.
i mean i wanna say from 07-present gm in most truck applications put the g80 locker in the rear end and its a dually so more than likely should have that, how well it still works is up for debate since it one wheel peeled on that rock.

I'm a school bus mechanic and that step is a problem for buses that stay on road. Ive seen drivers wipe them on practically nothing. This is one of you most entertaining videos, loved it!!!!!!❤❤❤
With the tangerines current configuration if you added safety straps/harnesses and fixed mounted standing positions or elevated chairs. It could become a follow along camera vehicle

Hay Mat, the way the sand flies up over the front of the bus when the bumper bottoms out reminds me of a boat when it hits the waves and water comes up over the boat, so, I think you should name it The Land Yacht.
I would put full suspension seats in that bus. They will take out the majority of the harshness of the ride. As long as they have good shocks, it will go a long way in preventing motion sickness as well.
I agree. Long chassis have light rear ends. The seating in the rear especially needs to be secure and supportive. And the steps… if you raise the chassis the steps will be hard to reach for older folks or people with physical limitations.

I have seen in the comments that some people have been asking for like drone shots that are closer to the ground, so well an open top safari vehicle was the primary purpose of the tangerine rebuild. I feel like camera vehicle was also a motivation

That Bus is doing incredibly great in Offroading. At first I thought the thumbnail was a photoshopped clickbait. Now I am hyped to see it modified. But you have to be at least a little crazy (in a positive way), to even try this. P.S. one of the first Videos of Mat I really had to lough out loud. Not grinning, really loughing.
I used to drive a school bus as a work truck, loaded with tools, they're a lot of fun to drive. We also hit the bottom step on everything, the front corner was all bashed up. You can keep the digital tach on all the time by pressing the top button to the left of the steering wheel multiple times until you get to the tachometer.
This is starting to make it sound worth it to travel halfway across the country to experience something I've never properly explored. Just to off-road in the short bus.
That bus would make an amazing support vehicle on a long recovery. Add some solar panels and batteries to it, a radio repeater, and some food and water storage plus all of the off road mods and its a beast.

If the A/C belt has a tensioner I would recommend taking the tensioner off completely and putting on a stretch belt. The newer trucks don’t have a tensioner for the A/C. Just a stretch on belt. I had to do that for mine because the fast up and down raving kept throwing it off. Just a suggestion. 🤷🏽♂️

I am an engineer at Collins, the manufacturer of the bus. Everyone at Collins has seen or heard of this. The majority of us think it is awesome and want to see it when it is done. I would suggest taking the school bus decal off the front and rear of the bus for driving it around.

What I would like to see is a dedicated video on the heavy wrecker mechanically. I have been a mechanic most of my life and a lot of your viewers are mechanical people like me and would love to see an in debth description of the ins and out on that incredible build. i watched the entire build videos but still do not remember all the specifics. Nice bus, it looks like new. The ride along was hilarious. Everyone's excitement along with all their expressions when you made it to the top of the world was awesome. That was quite the test drive for the newly rebuilt transmission.

This reminds me of that magic school bus cartoon where they had a crazy hippie teacher that would drive like crazy. She would say "let's go kids, I'm taking you on a trip" and they would end up in a rectum or somewhere.
School busses are actually surprisingly competent. I'm a tree planter/Bus driver (driving everybody to the job site, then planting - often hundreds of kilometers away from ashpalt). With some logging truck tires and a good amount of momentum and confidence they are pretty decent. They are dualies, so even rear wheel drive, they do put power to 4 wheels :). The bigger busses have bigger tires/wheels and can accept logging truck tires - they have much better clearance but have much bigger issues with scratching their buts. Enough momentum fixes a lot of issues (bigger busses also really suck for the people in the back, it acts like a giant lever with the nose staying down and the back bouncing on bumps - the farther back you are the worse it gets). They also have much bigger engine bays and are incredibly easy to work on in the field - on some of our busses I can literally stand between the wheel and the engine. The engine bay on yours seems like a nightmare - things like to snap at high speed, being able to easily get in is important. In canada atleast, if it's chrome yellow and has the stop sign it's illegal to drive without a specific school purpose vehicle license. This is why all planting busses have house paint paint jobs. Rip those nose mirrors off if you take em into tight trails. They will snap off otherwise - and at high speeds I would be worried about them hitting the windshield when they snap Gotta keep in mind the stairs. It is always the lowest point. Also one of our competing companies did roll a bus last season - although that was loaded to the roof with gear, super top heavy. Take her high speed around hairpin corners and she does feel tippy, but she is good. Sand sucks. Definitely had to do a 2 truck tow team at speed to conquer some long steep hills where hitting her at 120km/hr wasn't sufficient. You have to go full send. To hell if your passengers hit the roof - you go slow you get stuck. I've gotten a stock bus (with knobby tires) more off-grid than most jeeps will ever see (although the bus is obviously less competent) I've been trying to convince the company to organize a school bus rally racing series for charity. No dice :(.

If the A/C belt has a tensioner I would recommend taking the tensioner off completely and putting on a stretch belt. The newer trucks don’t have a tensioner for the A/C. Just a stretch on belt. I had to do that for mine because the fast up and down raving kept throwing it off. Just a suggestion. 🤷🏽♂️

I am an engineer at Collins, the manufacturer of the bus. Everyone at Collins has seen or heard of this. The majority of us think it is awesome and want to see it when it is done. I would suggest taking the school bus decal off the front and rear of the bus for driving it around.

What I would like to see is a dedicated video on the heavy wrecker mechanically. I have been a mechanic most of my life and a lot of your viewers are mechanical people like me and would love to see an in debth description of the ins and out on that incredible build. i watched the entire build videos but still do not remember all the specifics. Probably the greatest Matt has built and that"s saying a lot, Please consider this idea as Matts creative expertise are what intrigues mechanical viewers like myself. Nice bus, it looks like new. The ride along was hilarious. Everyone's excitement along with all their expressions when you made it to the top of the world was awesome. That was quite the test drive for the newly rebuilt transmission.

School busses are actually surprisingly competent. I'm a tree planter/Bus driver (driving everybody to the job site, then planting - often hundreds of kilometers away from ashpalt). With some logging truck tires and a good amount of momentum and confidence they are pretty decent. They are dualies, so even rear wheel drive, they do put power to 4 wheels :). The bigger busses have bigger tires/wheels and can accept logging truck tires - they have much better clearance but have much bigger issues with scratching their buts. Enough momentum fixes a lot of issues (bigger busses also really suck for the people in the back, it acts like a giant lever with the nose staying down and the back bouncing on bumps - the farther back you are the worse it gets). They also have much bigger engine bays and are incredibly easy to work on in the field - on some of our busses I can literally stand between the wheel and the engine. The engine bay on yours seems like a nightmare - things like to snap at high speed, being able to easily get in is important.
In canada atleast, if it's chrome yellow and has the stop sign it's illegal to drive without a specific school purpose vehicle license. This is why all planting busses have house paint paint jobs.
Rip those nose mirrors off if you take em into tight trails. They will snap off otherwise - and at high speeds I would be worried about them hitting the windshield when they snap
Gotta keep in mind the stairs. It is always the lowest point.
Also one of our competing companies did roll a bus last season - although that was loaded to the roof with gear, super top heavy. Take her high speed around hairpin corners and she does feel tippy, but she is good.
Sand sucks. Definitely had to do a 2 truck tow team at speed to conquer some long steep hills where hitting her at 120km/hr wasn't sufficient. You have to go full send. To hell if your passengers hit the roof - you go slow you get stuck.
I've gotten a stock bus (with knobby tires) more off-grid than most jeeps will ever see (although the bus is obviously less competent)

One thing I've learned watching this channel over the last few years. Never bet against Matt. He might not have all the tools that will make it easy. But he always has that victory pie. And if he says he can make it anywhere you better put your money in him. He's a genius.
