I’ve heard that ASICS tends toward firmer rides because Eastern markets tend to prefer firmer midsoles. Probably a generalization, but as someone who prefers a firm ride that isn’t too mushy, I appreciate ASICS’ effort to appeal to a wide range of running preferences.

I hesitated a lot before purchasing this shoes due to the tongue issue Seth mentioned. But after i got it, it is not that big of a deal. Actually the shoe itself is far better than i ever imagined. It is the slightest details that matter. The shoe is truly a masterpiece.

It’s so interesting, I tried the saucing triumph 20 on at my local running shoe store and liked it, but the rep recommended I try on the gel nimbus 25 based on my size (215 lbs) and I absolutely loved it when running, it felt very comfortable and still gave me the energy return I was looking for! Just bought a pair and the cushioning even blows away the Hoka Bondi I’ve been running. While in the store I tried on 3 other top max cushion shoes for kicks and the Nimbus just felt better in every way. The knit upper is the most comfortable I’ve ever felt, the lockdown was sufficient, the cushioning feels like clouds, and they don’t feel heavy. The most astounding advancement in this model is the forefoot cushioning. I guess losing the Gel was a good thing. They do cost a pretty penny but that’s why I only buy max cushion shoes their longevity is a money saver. Great review Seth I think it deserves better scores but hey everyone’s different.

I have three "shoetubers" I watch, of which you are obviously one. And, this review is a perfect example of why it's helpful to get different perspectives. You are almost certainly the lightest, most efficient of those runners. So, two of the distinct properties of this shoes that you commented on got diametrically opposite comments from a heavier runner and a female runner. 1.) The tongue was adored. So, the shoe you were thinking of with the similar tongue is the Asics Nimbus 24 - previous version. I kind of agree with you on the tongue. I don't mind it once I'm going but it does NOT make it easy to get the shoe on. I find myself yanking it. 2.) The heavier runner felt this Nimbus was wonderfully soft. I am DEFINITELY heavier than you. And I find the previous Nimbus to be quite soft. I'm actually a big fan of it for a variety of my runs. Definitely not intervals but cruising miles. Where I'm keeping the HR in the 120 zone, it's very comfortable. So, here's where I have to triangulate. I agree with you on the tongue. Will I agree on the durometer?
BTW: I got the Nimbus 24 on sale for $93. If there's a shoe you REALLY want - just earmark it. Wait until the end of the year. The chances are very high it'll go on sale. This industry relies very heavily on hyping what's newest. But, if a shoe was wonderful and perfect and beautiful in every way 11 months ago, chances are it'll still be all those things at the end of the year when they're clearing it out for the newest version.

Worth pointing out this shoe could get you DQ of any world athletics sanctioned event as the stack height measures over 40mm. Just don't use it for your goal Marathon in which you're looking for a Boston time or something to be safe.

Personally I luv the firmer shoes. The have ALWAYS lasted longer for me. And as to the weight of the shoe, of course it's a bit heavier, they stuffed it with support. More support=more weight. As a daily trainer this is exactly what u want in a shoe.

I also don’t like this shoes tongue. Bites my instep and doesn’t lock down well. Also not a big fan of the eyelet chain either. I do like the ride, though, and yes it’s not soft, but it is springy, which I LOVE. If they can just fix the upper for the 26, it’ll be perfect

In my opinion the Nimbus 25 is not an updated Nimbus 24 but an entirely different shoe. I tried a pair of the Nimbus 25 in the shop and put them straight back on the shelf. I'd rather buy the Nimbus 24. Very dissapointed with the direction Asics has taken with this shoe.

I did the same. Check out reviews from belive in the run. They say its just as soft if not softer than the more V4. Like i said in my comment, shoes can feel very different from person to person. Im also 6'2 and 160 so ill probably get much more squish out of this shoe than seth did.

I wouldn't be too concerned especially if you're in warmer conditions. I think Seth is experiencing a mix between a cold foam and him being too small to feel it. But it won't be as squishy as the invincible, or the NB More v4

@Nolan McKenna Oh, I see your point. Well, since I had my 5th metatarsal repair surgery 3 months ago, I need super soft cushioned shoes. I am living in somewhat warm area (Texas), but I haven't got a big physical figure. Well...hope I like the ride of this shoe though. After having the durometer scale, Seth relies too much on the durometer numbers and I think sometimes he ignores his own feelings about the midsole. He measured the outer wall of the midsole, which was made firmer for durability, but failed to mention about the gel and softer midsole compound at the core.
In other words, he may feel the shoe as soft when he uses them, but when looking at the durometer number he trust the numbers more, probably not aware that the center part of the midsole is different.
