We're about a week behind you for the first freeze in coastal Zone 8B(Niceville area.) I keep leftover seeds in an old pickle jar in my refrigerator. I've planted seeds from twenty years ago that had a 80%+ germination rate. The only seeds that didn't germinate well were lettuce. We used to have a local feed store that sold seeds by weight and like you said, most of the varieties did well. While it does seem early to plant because of the heat, last year I planted some broccoli this time of year that did really well. The cool weather plants seem to like the heat as they first grow, and like the cooler weather to mature in.
Found your channel from the Scrubfest 2023 announcement. Watched to the end where you mentioned cattle ear tag markers for writing on garden markers. Tip for garden markers: for years I have used old vinyl window blind slats and a simple #2 pencil. The blinds can be usually found for a couple of dollars at a thrift store and you can cut them to the size you need. The pencil lead does not fade out in the sun like a lot of pens. The vinyl blind slats will last for a full year, possibly up to 18 months, even in (zone 8b, South Georgia) full sun.
I feel like these are boring video's but some people want to see them, so we have to step it up to make up for boring content lol. Thanks for watching.

yep, you guys are warmer for sure. fall gardening feels like a gamble with the threat to an early freeze.

You are 100% correct and I've used that way before.
great camera work on a subject that doesn't really involve much movement. Looks like you have a good system / organization.
