That doesn't mean they don't share most of the same DNA... You share a good portion of DNA with a banana even and you're only a fraction different genetically to a chimpanzee... Google it if you don't believe me bruhhh....................
It’s a golden age for hockey, for sure. I remember being cooped up during the pandemic watching 14 year old Connor Bedard highlights thinking “this is the future of our game”. McKenna and Dupont are more than just carrying the torch, they’re doing things that are straight up unbelievable. Our sport is in good hands, and it’s seeming only getting better.
I am a Prince George Cougars season ticket holder. Got to see McKenna in person last year, that kid is truly something else. I can't wait until February when DuPont and Everett come up here, all the video I've seen on him makes him look like a seasoned veteran even though he's just 15. Another draft-eligible player having a great season is Cameron Schmidt of the Vancouver Giants. He reminds me of Marty St. Louis, a small guy who is insanely fast with great hands.
guys, 35k views and 815 likes in unacceptable. please leave rob a like. hes good, he makes us laugh with facts, go on, like that vid, 1 sec effort for the guy
gotta say, i love that you focus on canadian prospects, especially because of that new rule that allows them to go in the ncaa even tho they play in juniors
At first (mere seconds into video), I assumed this video was about Bedard's cousin (also a forward) from Whitehorse... So now (one minute in), I'm thinking... Wait a minute... Bedard's got ANOTHER cousin (Dupont a D-man?) who's a prodigy too... WTF are they feeding these kids? ;)
They can have all the talent they want..Fed by an entire (nearing elitist status) Apparatus that puts ungodly amounts of time, energy and resources into these kids. Fact is, they are given an essential pass with school and can focus their lives on playing hockey. They're going to be phenoms. I dont think they deserve to be treated like Kings.
I don’t think DuPont is gonna be that tall. His dad wasn’t that tall. And I played against his brother growing up and he was really tall for our age when he was younger then just stopped growing. And is now pretty average. But we will see. His mom is pretty tall so maybe that helps him.
Ok great. I don't know a lot about him but the biggest highlight in there was him scoring goal 6, 7 and 8 in what I am assuming was an 8-7 win. He's not a defenseman.
Exceptional status doesn't just mean skill. Sean Day was 6'3 225 at 15, he couldn't play AAA. Ekblad was similar but much better. Veleno was too good for his level too, but never had elite skill. It isn't a guarantee, but these kids are people to watch for a multitude of reasons.
Do you think some part of the absurd production of these young stars is attributed to the increased dilution of WHL talent as more and more players are going to the NCAA and spreading overall talent out more across leagues.
My two closest cousins are my third cousins. Their mom and my dad are first cousins, same age, and my dad lived with her dad/his uncle when he was in high school. Naturally their kids are close
Without modern stick technology they'd be nobodies. I'll die on that hill. These twig armed kids can skate, but you'll notice that they rely on sticks looking like the letter "C" on the loadup.
Nice comment on the slingshots vs wooden sticks. I'm a Pens fan who saw Jake Debrusk when he was on the Bruins shoot a slingshot and score and was like that wasn't a wrist shot that was a slingshot. They don't have proper wrist shots that would translate to a wooden stick. Good observation.
McKenna did not receive exceptional status in the WHL. But, he has a very late birthday: Dec 20. McDavid's birthday is Jan 13. This is important because the CHL uses birth year as the cutoff for eligiblity (whereas the NHL uses Sept 15). That means that it's reasonable to compare McKenna's first full year in junior to McDavid's first full year in junior (with the caveat that McKenna grew up playing against relatively older players and that he would be one month older than McDavid for purposes of this comparison) McDavid: 63 GP 66 Pts McKenna: 61 GP 97 Pts

The most absurd thing is that Bedard and McKenna aren't even blood related, but step-cousins.
The odds of both of them being exceptional status players in the WHL surpassing McDavid is so absurd haha

canada is so back baby!!! were producing the best in the world again! team canada will forever reign
I actually have DuPont in a franchise mode on nhl25 and at 21y-o in game he’s already a medium franchise potential player at a 92 overall 🤣🤣it’s crazy
Great video Rob!
Imagine if The Canadians had a hold of him😂
Okay Mr Hudson😂😂
@SirrJDubs 🤣
Y’all would still be rebuilding
@brendan8637 obviously
@@brendan8637 Montreal the forever rebuilding team XD
Wow, and they are both Canadian too
what are the odds McKenna plays his draft year in NCAA with the rule change this year?

Pucks
I don’t think DuPont is related to Bedard
I don't know but maybe they should feed Connor some because he's just sad at this point.
Are these prospects being overhyped?
it's the social media effect

McKenna just might be better than bedard.
100% yes. Media tells you what they want to believe.
also i gotta say errrrrrrrtime, not a damn robot, i just love that rob is making money of those video i watch when im drunk
Cousins through marriage I believe? What are the odds they both became exceptional players lol their families must be so proud
The next generation is gonna be sick, we got bedard, messa, dupont, mckenna, michkov, you name it
Going to the Pens. Crosby will mentor him to success.
Whoever gets him will be pretty lucky, not sure about Pens getting him.
Rob talks hockey just watched korzemba and thought i wanna do exactly those videos
I mean I’ve been doing these videos every year for about 4 years haha
10:40 Blackhawks will ruin him.

What team is wearing those pink jerseys with lime green pants? That's sweet, they look like Patrick 💫 6:38
A lot of CHL teams partner with SpongeBob hahaha
@RobTalksHockey well who are they? 😂
The Sioux City Squidwards would beat them I bet.
Future Penguin Gavin McKenna 😳

65% gunna be a penguin
Doubt it
Correction: Bedard's cousin-in-law.
You said in 2023 McDavid had a "record breaking" 153 points. What record is it that he broke, Rob?
Most point scored in the modern era (Post salary cap)
We need these kids in Calgary!
Doubt that will happen a lot of them will follow bedard and celebrini and probably play with the Canucks when they’re contracts are done
Welcome to Pittsburgh Gavin McKenna!
Gotta suck another year for that. James Hagens (who will be first this year) is still sick tho
Keep dreaming buddy

Exactly. Sometimes it’s about physical maturity. I believe Veleno was partially granted exceptional status because he was in talks with the MCAA
Future Montreal Canadien
Would be cool to see

Gavin McKenna and Landon Dupont to the Penguins.

They would be the most hated team for the next 20 years.
Nope

@ naw just conspiracy. Not a pens fan
Lol, why does everyone talk like as if bedard is good and scoring mass amounts or even goals, he is not. Doing any of it.
wtf is up with this family tree? gavin mckenna and now landon dupont?? these kids are insane
After all the bars and graphs and chatter, I have no idea what the ^%$# your talking about. What did I just watch?
You just watched a bunch of lies and hype from someone who knows nothing? My opinion.
