    I'm doing this now and watched a few videos on the job. This was by far the best. Great job keeping it simple but informative, will be checking out some of the other stuff on your channel!

    What were your symptoms of the bad gasket, i have a 01 dodge 1500 with the 5.2 magnum and it starts fine but when i go to take off i lose power and it missfires and is weak and cuts out but not codes and there is a little bit of oil you can see when you look down the throttlebody? Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Will the plenum gasket cause lack of power to the engine? My truck runs good. But it feels like when I'm on the highway won't respond even with the gas pedal on the floor. It goes on the speed but slow

    • @GabrielKersey
      @GabrielKersey 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That could definitely be part of it. If your pulling oil into the combustion chamber you’re getting an inefficient burn which could be robbing you of some power

    isnt the crank position sensor easier to get to with the engine stripped down? I've never changed one but heard its a shitty job.ting ready to do the hughes plenum replacement and bought a cps figuring it would be easy to.

    • @SwanCanFixIt
      @SwanCanFixIt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it would be much easier to get to it with it stripped down. I also thought about changing out the water pump and timing chain while I was at it given those would be easier to get at as well, but ended up putting that off for a later time. Good luck on changing everything! Hope the video helps!

    Did you have any codes? Ive got a culinder 3, 4, sometimes 5 and 6 and random misfire codes that I can not figure out.

    • @SwanCanFixIt
      @SwanCanFixIt  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would double check your wires and the firing order to make sure nothing is crossed. Easy to accidently swap the wires in the wrong place somewhere and that will cause a lot of misfires. Hope this helps.

      it would be difficult if not impossible to do the job with all that in your way. I have everything moved to change the water pump and with everything out of my way I'm gonna go ahead and do the Plenum.

    Did it feel like the truck had a parachute attached before replacing the plenum gasket

    • @SwanCanFixIt
      @SwanCanFixIt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it definitely felt very sluggish when initially trying to accelerate like you are describing. I also did the spark plugs and wires while changing it out so that could have helped a lot, but overall after changing it out it feels a lot more responsive when accelerating.

    It's been shown that generally the only thing needed for the plenum plate is shorter bolts. The bolts being too long actually bottom out and don't hold the plenum plate tight enough. Those bolts would be alot cheaper than the Hughes item.

    • @SwanCanFixIt

      The first thing I would check is to make sure your wires are plugged into the distributor in the right firing order if you changed those out or unplugged any. Second thing would be to make sure the fuel injectors were set into the manifold correctly and to check for leaking fuel anywhere near it. Possibly could have broke one of them to cause the misfire. Last thing would to make sure everything was tightened down to the correct torque specs for the plenum and manifold. Hope this helps. Sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with it. Worst feeling is trying to fix something and somehow making things worse..

      @@4.7.9_sneakz There was a TSB from Dodge about re-routing the wires so that they don't touch or only cross at right angles. Might be worth checking out. Lookup TSB 18-48-98. Unrelated, my Ram ran rough after changing the wires, plugs, etc. and it ended up being a faulty (new) ignition coil.

    How many miles on the engine? Mechanic said my intake manifold gasket needs to be done (for ~$3500). But, engine has 255k...

    • @SwanCanFixIt
      @SwanCanFixIt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This engine had 206k miles on it when I did this. Should be able to get at least another 100k miles out of it now. $3,500 is probably not worth it if going that route with that many miles. If you do it yourself with the Hughes plenum kit and new coolant, that will only cost you about $250-$300. Not a super hard job just takes a solid weekend to do. Hopefully the video helps if you end up doing it yourself.

    Everyone can save a bunch of money by reusing the stock plenum plate with a new gasket or sealer. The problem is the bolts are too long and bottom out which results in less clamping force on the plenum plate. Use shorter bolts or grind the stock one shorter.

    Vacuum and o2 delete I have the same engine in my second gen and those PVC valves are switched on mine the air filter alone is on the other side running to the right valve when looking at the engine ive done a total vacuum delete caped on one side and the other is open sucking air as it's only designed for ac and the other side was designed for the master break cylinder all connected, some front differentials are ran off the vacuum I've swapped to electric and that is not how you would check you can take the cap off to the oil crank fill and see if it blows air dont tell shit next you delete the upstream no pluging just put a bolt or clip the wire to the O2, the down stream will still be connected completely remove the wire from the wiring lue or plug it into a computer and tell the engine it's fine if you complete all that properly you can now run with out causing any problems no leaks as its been totally deleted if you please keep in mind its only for emissions and hurts your engine you will have twice the amount even quadruple the amount of gas going back to the tank threw the coal pack system I get roughly 30 mpg and more, every test I've done is 150 miles on 5 gallons some times 5.5 gallons over come the system we are told to live in it's a lie the truck being manufactured was 12 mpg my truck is lifted with a 12 inch lift massive tires and gets 30 mpg threw the vacuum delete you will have less stress on the engine I go about 90 miles an hour with my mods and it doesn't have to work hard at all 3000 rpm is the highest it goes as it's using 100% of the power as the engine was intended for yes it's considered illegal however it's not for older vehicles if they make laws it no longer needs emissions on older vehicles then why bother keeping the engine or the machine from its full potential emissions laws are good for 20 years you will burn the cleanest air man has ever known deleting the awful idea of control man has placed on the next man. Vaccume and O2 delete to save your engine and your money please remember to equip electrical to vacuum ran differential and break cylinders if you covet ac not to worry it still work as long as you keep it hooked up and maintain your ac components
