Yes not one size fits all and so many different situations . When I retired I was in no way settled in my life . I had many hardships in life and at the time I retired I was renting rooms . I had a goal to get into my own apartment so for three years I worked at getting into housing which was full time work . I finally secured affordable housing in my own apartment in a completely different city and now been here two years still decorating. So now after years of retiring I am feeling like I am actually retired and decompressing from so much trauma in life. I’m spending my precious time healing resting fixing healthy meals embracing my alone ness and grateful for every blessing . At 70 I finally feel free and it’s glorious . I thank God first thing every morning ❤️
Hi Kris, I'm new to your channel!!! I am 65 and retired now for about 2 Years! Worked in the Corporate Health Plan world as a PR (Provider Relations) Rep. for 30 plus years. I was based from home for the majority of my career. My home was my office. I am having a hard time with my freedom. All I want to do is go shopping and really don't need anything LOL! I live in Florida, no children and just lost our last of three Chihuahua's! Family is all in Michigan and we have been going back in the Summer months to visit for a couple of months (stay with my Sister). I have decided that 2025 must bring some changes. I am considering a part time job and possible adopting another puppy (or two). My husband and I are both dog lovers and realize we can't live without another pet!!! Thanks for letting me vent, as I really need to figure it out soon. Blessings!!!
I am just 6 months into retirement and I’ve already dusted off my day planner (that I thought I’d never need again once I stopped working) to help me keep on top of all my fun retirement activities but also to set goals and have some structure in my days (but not too much). I try to pick one productive task every day or 2 that will take no more than 3 hours of time to complete. Today I gathered a bunch of gently used but no longer needed shoes from my closet and took them to the library where there was a shoe drive going on. It feels good to let go of things that can be used and valued by others. Tomorrow I’m getting started on better organizing my garden supplies and later meeting friends to play pickleball. I feel like I have a nice balance of productivity and fun. I love your videos! ❤
Good info, thank you. I promised myself when I retired that I would not do anything I didnt enjoy. So I try joining groups, or volunteering different places, and as soon as I feel Im not enjoying something anymore I give myself permission to give it up AND not feel guilty. I finally tell myself its ok if I want to stay in and read all day. If the weather is nasty I give myself permission to hide inside, knowing I couldn't do that when I was working. Im never bored, and Im loving my retirement so far(its been 2 years) I'm a new subscriber and I'm really appreciating your videos
Kris we didn't retired of life. I hate this word. We stoped working, we have a brake. We only need to be healthy. ❤ Yiota (Any time I try to do something I have to, my blood presser gets high) You are completely right saying we need a structure but me still do just a little everyday/nothing). I am tired of thinking my mind is exhausted.
I agree, I don't like the word either. I tried to start my channel without using it, but it is a word that everyone recognizes (and searches for on TH-cam) so I needed to start using it. I prefer "work optional." But yes. It's just that we stopped working. On to the next wonderful phase of life!
Good advice Kris, I've been enjoying retirement and all it brings for 20 + years, thank you. I am a silly 70 year old man, that's been retired since 50. Started my channel about a month ago. I am still playing with it and learning how everything works. I like watching your videos, you seem to have it all figured out. Hope it's not all mirrors and slight of hand, ha ha. I'd enjoy hearing what you like and don't like about being a creator. You have any advice or tips you'd be willing to share with me? Maybe something I'm not likely to figure out on my own.
Oh, I love it! I just subscribed to your channel! Nice to meet you. I don't have it all figured out, but I'm an optimist and smart cookie so I figure I'll figure out what I need to when I need to 😂. Consistency and authenticity are the big pieces of advice I have. The more you record and edit and post, the better you'll get at it. And the more authentic you are, the better (no smoke and mirrors, right?). Keep learning from all of the great resources here, but also don't obsess about doing everything perfectly. Have fun with it. Experiment with it. And make sure you keep watching other channels so you can get ideas and inspiration.
I have to stay structured to stay on top of MIL's schedule, but her healthcare team seems to be unstructured, calling to see if they can see her in an hour. Uh...NO! 🙄 Good thing I use a pencil in the day planner. Looking forward to the day when I can get a few hours of freedom. 🙃

55 and fortunate enough to retire. Keep this up, girl. I appreciate your point of view.

Just retired and struggling with self discipline to get things done. Also trying to come up with fun ideas. 🥰

I love this! The freedom to choose from day to day how you spend your precious hours is everything.

@RobinsonKris Best advice I've gotten yet! Thank you very kind.
