The rear center brake light is actually adjustable...
Also, before purchasing the JL, check the long recall list that it already has. It took years to get the JK up to snuff. Notice that several things he pointed out were for style and not function?
I love the new JL, I have always wanted a Jeep and I think this maybe the one I purchase.... in a year after all the kinks have been found and figured out lol. Also give the aftermarket guys sometime to make some cool modifications available for it! Can't wait to see you guys start a build with the new JL
The reason the rear brake lights stick out is for the blind spot monitoring.
I love your video on this specific model . I have this exact jeep in my garage . I'm going to buy one of your front bumpers , because I watched the install on my same model and I can see what it will look like. I've owned 6 different jeep models over the past 25 years . This is by far the most impressive ..... But it is by far the most expensive !!!
Awesome video! Please bring Topless video next on this JL removing the freedom panels etc.
Couple of things here:
1. The rear mount can take up to a 33-inch tire. That's cause the Rubicon comes standard with one - can't imagine they'd have a different rear mount just for that trim.
2. The rear camera is standard.
I would hope so! I want a rear camera on MY Wrangler when I get it...

Loving the windshield changes Laying the windshield down on my Jk was a chore and not very practical not like it was on my YJ I think that this is the best way to go for that option as it does leave the roll cage in place.
Well done video. You explained more than the other reviews. Disagree on not having a gas cap cover. Helps to keep some of the dust out. With backup camera, can't use a tire cover.

Yes, they could have put the backup camera more into the spare between the spokes, but it's a very wide-angle camera, and very nice. I wonder if the tire would cut off the view to either side, or certainly to the trailer hitch, which as you know only sticks out by a little below the spare. Where the camera is now, the ball on the hitch is highly visible.
love it. now its been hard to find a 2 door. In fact its hard to find any JLs. Hopefully in the next few months but by then it might be close to the '19!

A Jeep rep at the LA auto show said the tire carrier was specifically designed to be adjustable and fit up to a 35” tire. Maybe it is different on the Rubicon than the Sahara and Sport?
I cant imagine they'd give us a different tire carrier per trim level, so I'd say it's design from the get go to take up to a certain tire size. Not sure if that is 35", as the Rubicons come with 33" standard.
The vents in the fender were also added to help relieve hood flutter...

I don't believe the front bumper is plastic (only). It's a facade for a steel inner core.

The tires that came on my 2018 JK which are the bridgestone deuler A/T RHS look way nobbier than these road tires that come with the JL. the RHS are M+S as well.

I can't understand why Fiat/Chrysler, won't give us the option for a V-8. The dealerships, need to let us choose what we want! Some people will pay the extra cost. I actually saw the Ford Ranger, last year, in Ohio, at a company I delivered to. It had a V8. Oh that was the new Ranger, I saw too. At least new for the US market.
The 2019 Ford Ranger is coming with only ONE 2.7 ltr EcoBoost engine. No options for any other engines (including no option for an 8 cylinder)..
This was a special ordered Ranger. This was a companies pickup, I saw back in October, '17. So it wasn't even seen by the general public, other than photos.
Depending what they will sell for in Oz, i would like one..

I JUST broke my license plate bracket off my JK on the trail this past weekend. Thank god it was a couple simple clips and screws to put it back on. I'm worried about how those brake lights are designed to come off if you hit them against something. Will they break a couple clips and be easy to fix? Or when it break the entire light?
TxGamer13 they stick out that far to allow the new blind spot warning system to see past the back fenders. With that in mind, I’m thinking knocking the taillight off one of these will unfortunately, likely not be a cheap fix.

-possibly the engine(s)
-8 speed transmission
-quicker throttle response
-soft top without ‘cross bar’
-soft top no zippers
-quieter soft top
-body color roll bar
-flat horizontal dash
-lighter/aerodynamics = better MPG
-real metal interior detail
-real hardware (not faux bolts) interior
-larger cup holders
-air vents for cooling under hood
-more slant in windshield (think rock damage)
-doors stay opened
-cabin is slightly longer
-doors remove easier/faster
-telescopic adjusting steering wheel
JL cons
-the bumpers (front and back)
-front running lights on fender flare
-too much digital visual “noise” on dash
-rear camera
-no hard drive in radio to store music
-push button start
-auto start/stop
Your cons are pros to most people. Push button start is great, rear camera is super great (how could you possibly think this is a con???), the dash is pretty clean looking (IMO), it takes a thumb drive but really you should use your phone, auto start stop is a simple button push to disable...
