- Full version: • EVERY Actor Who Played...
This doesn't include voice roles, expanded universe, characters with no lines or clones/shape-shifting.
Let me know if I missed anyone.
My favourite has to be David Tennant
The Doctor
The Doctor
The Doctor
The Doctor
The 10th Doctor
The 10.5th Doctor
The Metà-Crisis Doctor
The 14th Doctor
And if the leak are true...
What about his human John Smith persona in "Human Nature"/"The Family of Blood"?
When he knocks four times
@@AndrewChapman my god hes multiplying
@@idiaridiNADecio10.5 is 10. They're not different.
for people wondering about 2:39
the actors name is Brian Miller (he was actually Elizabeth Sladen's husband from 1968 until her death
I've seen him in things for what seems like forever and never knew his name or that he was married to Elisabeth Sladen. Thanks.
He was also a voice actor for the Daleks during the 1980s along side Roy Skelton
My wife pointed out that Alethea Charlton played Hur in An Unearthly Child, and Edith in The Time Meddler.
Also Derek Newark from An Unearthly Child and Inferno.
Also Eileen Way was Old Mother in An Unearthly Chuld and Karela in Creature from the Pit. Jeremy Young played Kal and later appeared in Mission to the Unknown _and_ in the 70s was married to Kate O'Mara, who played only one role in Dr Who and I'm only mentioning for the sake of trivia.
@@zacmumblethunder7466 Eileen Way was also in the second Dalek film, Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 AD.
I never realised just how many actors/actresses were in both classic and new who
Its interesting to note that Julian Bleach is the only person (in here at least) to have been on every main spinoff as well as Doctor Who itself, which is awesome. It's also great to see so many actors who were there in far earlier days, some even as far back as the 60s, have multiple roles because of them being in much newer episodes.
Except for Class. He nailed all three of the roles, too. Three very memorable villains.
Since making this, I realised I missed a few:
- Jimmy Vee
- Eileen Way
- Arthur Hewlett
- Phillip Voss
- Roy Stewart
- Clem So
Let me know if I’ve missed any more and I might make an update.
a few more
- Kevin McNally as Hugo Lang in The Twin Dilemma and Professor Jericho in Flux
- Martin Jarvis as Hilio in The Web Planet, Butler in Invasion of the Dinosaurs and the Governor in Vengeance on Varos
- Donald Gee as Major Warne in The Space Pirates and Eckersley in The Monster of Peladon
- Peter Miles as Dr. Lawrence in The Silurians, Professor Whitaker in Invasion of the Dinosaurs and Nyder in Genesis of the Daleks
- John Leeson as K9 and Dugeen in The Power of Kroll
- Miriam Margolyes as Leef Apple Glyn Slitheen-Blathereen in SJA and Beep the Meep
- Bernard Horsfall as Gulliver in The Mind Robber, a Time Lord in The War Games, Taron in Planet of the Daleks and Chancellor Goth in The Deadly Assassin
Another one! Brian Miller provided some of the voices for the daleks in Resurrection of the Daleks! Amazing video tho!
The biggest one missing is Pat Gorman who played 73 different roles. Another one I noticed was Phillip Madoc who was in The Krotons, The War Games, The Brain of Morbius, and the Power of Kroll
Also Margot Van der Burgh who played Cameca in The Aztecs and Katura in The Keeper Of Traken
Where’s Vaughn, where’s Packer! They played multiple roles. And where good grief is
Michael Sheard?!?
Alright, I'm working on a follow-up now. After going through every guest actor on the Tardis Wiki and thanks to some of these comments, I have a list of over 100 actors who weren't included in this video. So the follow up could take a while to complete.
Shoutout to Nicholas Briggs who has done multiple voices for the show, mainly the Daleks and Cybermen
I like the actors that appeared in both old and new runs of the show.
Wanda Ventham (Benedict Cumberbatch's mother) was in the Faceless Ones, Image of the Fendahl and Time and the Rani
Denis lill was in Image of the Fendahl and The Awakening
Reg Pritchard played Ben Daheer in the Crusade and the man whos greenhouse keeps moving in the police station in Daleks Masterplan (the Doctor actually has a throwaway line about recognising him from the marketplace in Jaffa)
I'm face blind enough to have most of these fool me. Even when their roles appear next to each other like here I can't really tell.
Bernard Horsfall, pretty pivotal roles as well. Two major time lords, leader of a Thal mission against the Daleks and Gulliver, yep that Gulliver.
He also had my favourite line in any Bond film. He's the agent in On Her Majesty's Secret Service who, when told by Blofeld that he's on private property, replies "What? The whole bloody alp?" I know there are funnier lines, but it's the sense of a Britishman abroad's outrage that he conveys that makes it my favourite.
Or maybe the Time Lord in The War Games was Goth?
It’s also amazing to see so many actors from other famous British TV shows.
Fun fact about Lynda Baron: she also provided the vocals for the song "Ballad of the Last Chance Saloon" in "The Gunfighters" (starring William Hartnell).
Sacha Dhawan played the Spy Master and Waris Hussein in An Adventure In Space And Time and Terry Walsh as various monsters (Autons, Sontarans, etc)
Lol, forgot Nicolas Briggs 🤭
Bernard Cribbins was also a role in Peter Cushing's DR Who movie.
Audio makes this even crazier as David Tennant was a military officer in Dr Who Unbound Sympathy For the Devil.
Another one of my favourite Who multi-actors is the late Alan Rowe, who got to be in three serials starring three consecutive Doctors - opposite Patrick Troughton as Evans in "The Moonbase", opposite Jon Pertwee as Edward Of Wessex in "The Time Warrior" and opposite Tom Baker as Colonel Skinsale in "Horror Of Fang Rock"
and as Garif of Alzarius too (Full Circle)
Sounds like the Professor asked Ace to drop a sick beat so he could spit bars!
David Troughton is also the eldest son of Secon Doctor Patrick Troughton
Awesome, though here's some you missed who I can think of:-
Alethea Charlton as Hur in "An Unearthly Child" and Edith in "The Time Meddler"
Derek Newark as Za in "An Unearthly Child" and Greg Sutton in "Inferno"
Michael Sheard as Rhos in "The Ark", Dr Summers in "The Mind of Evil", Laurance Scarman in "Pyramids of Mars", Lowe in "The Invisible Enemy", Mergrave in "Castrovalva" and Headmaster in "Remembrance of the Daleks"
Paul Whitsun-Jones as Squire Edwards in "The Smugglers" and the Marshal in "The Mutants"
Ric Felgate as American Journalist in "The War Machines", Brent in "The Seeds of Death" and Van Lyden/Ambassador in "The Ambassadors of Death"
Kevin Stoney as Mavic Chen in "The Daleks' Master Plan", Tobias Vaughn in "The Invasion" and Tyrum in "Revenge of the Cybermen"
Pamela Salem as voice of Xoanon in "The Face of Evil", Toos in "The Robots of Death" and Rachel in "Remembrance of the Daleks"
David Graham as Dalek voice in "The Daleks", "The Dalek Invasion of Earth", "The Chase", "Mission to the Unknown" and "The Daleks' Master Plan", Charlie in "The Gunfighters" and Kerensky in "City of Death"
Terry Molloy as Davros in "Resurrection of the Daleks", "Revelation of the Daleks" and "Remembrance of the Daleks" (also as Emperor Dalek) and Russell in "Attack of the Cybermen"
Philip Madoc as Eelek in "The Krotons", the War Lord in "The War Games", Mehendri Solon in "The Brain of Morbius" and Fenner in "The Power of Kroll"
Norman Jones as Khrisong in "The Abominable Snowmen", Major Baker in "Doctor Who and the Silurians" and Hieronymous in "The Masque of Mandragora"
Peter Miles as Dr Charles Lawrence in "Doctor Who and the Silurians", Professor Whitaker in "Invasion of the Dinosaurs" and Nyder in "Genesis of the Daleks"
I know there's loads more, but again, that's all I can think off the top of my head. Not easy to remember every single actor/reused actor ever to have appeared in a long-running franchise like Doctor Who lol
Michael Cochrane in "Ghost Light" and "Black Orchid".
@@cameronjames3499 Well spotted.
Harry Burt in ‘mummy on orient express’ and ‘the crimson horror’
3:13 David Troughton also acted in “Last Christmas”
Doctor Who
Starring:
David Tennant
Peter Capaldi
David Tennant
Colin Baker
David Tennant
Karen Gillian
Peter Capaldi
Colin Baker
And...
David Tennant
Though the 60s movies aren't canon, Bernard Cribbins plays Tom Campbell in Daleks' Invasion Earth 2160 AD and of course Wilfred Mott.
RIP
I always thoughtnit would have been funny to give Wilf a line "I had a strange experience in a policebox back in the 60s" and just leave it at that with no explanation.
Philip Madoc also appeared in that movie as did Eileen Way (An Unearthly Child, Creature from the Pit).
I'm glad someone pointed it out ... RIP
I've now made a longer version with 14 minutes worth of actors I missed in this one: th-cam.com/video/94Gtx6p0jak/w-d-xo.html
You should’ve mentioned that David Tennant was in Scream Of The Shalka. And you also should have mentioned Richard E. Grant, he played two versions of The Doctor (both non-canon, I know), Dr Simeon and The Great Intelligence
The great Intelligence is not a version of the Doctor. It's an entity in itself
@@Yetaxa yeah, and 11 needs to go back and kick Jamies butt for interfering!!
And Alison, the companion in Scream of the Shalka, is also played by the woman who played Liz X in The Beast Below!
@@Yetaxa yeah, I know, Grant played The Great Intelligence possessing Simeon’s body
One thing I loVE ABOUT doctor who is that they reuse actors. James Bond franchise will not reuse an actor even if they got a minor role and was cut. Ask Michael Sheen. But DR Who nah.
Although his face was never seen, Graham Cole played several monsters, including The Melkur in Keeper of Traken, in the late 70s, early 80s before becoming PC Stamp in The Bill.
You forgot Bernard Cribbins who played Tom Campbell in Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. then 41 years later as Wilfred Mott (Donna Nobel's grandfather) in David Tennant's run as the doctor.
There was also one actor who appeared in Tomb of the Cybermen, Planet of the Spiders, Androids of Tara, Ambassadors of Death. Cyril Shaps
Wasn't Bernard Cribbins (Wilfred Mott; Donna Noble's grandfather) also involved in another DW role as well?
He was in the second Dalek movie with Peter Cushing as Dr Who, which isn't part of the BBC series canon.
I'm pretty confident I saw Rory as an extra walking through the cyber factory in The Age Of Steel
Micheal WIsher played a lot of grey people.
I always thought chantho was the fortune teller , now I know. Thanks!
Michael Wisher was the Jeffrey Combs of 70s Doctor Who!
Welcome to magic of a broadcasting channel on a relatively small island running a show for 60 years, there's really only so many britsh faces in the right circles
interesting thing that should be at 0:20 that you seemed to miss: in the episodes Human Nature and Family of Blood, there's a character named john smith who is actually played by david tennant. hope this helps :D
Johnm Smith has been an alias of the doctor since 2nd.
At 1:08, you made an error. That's Eric Roberts.
a bit of a mistake, at 1:07 when Eric Roberts comes on the screen still says Anthony Ainley
I love to see which players had a role (or roles) in the classic series and then came back for the modern series. Once you're in the Whoniverse, how can you leave?
There's also...
Derek Newark as Za (An Unearthly Child), and Greg Sutton (Inferno)
Michael Sheard as Laurence Scarman (Pyramids of Mars), the Headmaster (Remembrance of the Daleks), and a few others
Colin Prockter as Head chef (The Long Game), and Air Raid Warden (Victory of the Daleks)
Brian Miller as Barney (Deep Breath), and Harry (SJA: The Mad Woman in the Attic)
David Bradley also played the Shansheeth in Sarah Jane Adventures!
This forgot about Michael Sheard who had various roles across the classic Doctor Who stories including Pyramids of Mars, Castrovalva and Remeberance of the Daleks
People forget that David Bradley was also the voice of the Shansheeth in the Matt Smith story of the Sarah Jane adventures
Philip Madoc was Solon in 'The Brain of Morbius', the War Lord in 'The War Games', and was the rebel leader in 'The Dominators' (though I can't remember the character's name).
Great video, this was so interesting I barely knew about any of these
The actress Jennifer Hennessy played both Valerie in the Series 3 episode Gridlock and Moira (Bill Pott’s adoptive mother) in the Series 10 episodes The Pilot and Extremis.
For some characters it's more noticeable than for others
So basically all of the old people in the new series probably had a minor role in the classic as well
and not so minor in some cases
And when they did'nt it's because they were WAY famous for it
Fascinating
Am I only one didn’t know that Davros actor is actually The Nightmare Man and Rani (SJA) actress in Doctor Who?
Where were the three Bernards - Archer, Horsfall and Kay (I assume the fourth Bernard - Cribbins - doesn't count because his first role was in the non-canon movie). Also Phillip Madoc, Milton Johns, Michael Gough, Donald Pickering, Stephen Thorne, Rex Robinson and Michael Sheard are pretty big misses... not to mention the stunt guys who often had small roles too (Terry Walsh, Stuart Fell, Roy Scammell, Max Faulkner etc). And many of the cast of Planet of the Spiders were returning actors as a sort of "Best of" of the era.
Well Doctor Who is a long-running franchise that's featured a hell of a lot of actors and reused actors. Not easy to note everyone.
@@AndrewChapman Well the creator did ask to let him know if he missed anyone! There's many more I could name (a few that have come to mind since I wrote that comment, like George Pravda, John Woodnutt, Prentis Hancock and Frederick Jaeger), I just highlighted the extremely well-known names that came to mind immediately.
@@darkwebonline2124 I know, I've listed some which came to mind too. I see you've listed some I didn't even think of.
A few more: Julian Glover as King Richard the Lionheart in The Crusade (1st Doctor) and Scaroth in City of Death (4th Doctor)
Ian Gelder as Zellin in Can You Hear Me (13th Doctor) and Dekker in Torchwood: Children of Earth
Owen Teale as Maldak in Vengeance on Varos (6th Doctor) and Evan Sherman in Torchwood: Countryside
1:08 uh that's not Anthony Ainley
Yep, Eric Roberts.
David Bradley was also a bird-person in the Sarah Jane Adventures
Michael sheard made 6 appearances
the ark
mind of evil
pyramids of mars
invisible enemy
castrovalva
remembrance of the daleks
cool video though
Wait! What about Paul "Kerr Avon" Darrow? He played some alien tyrant (or at least corrupt government official) in Timelash in 1980's and some UNIT officer before that in 1970's. Or did I miss him in that compilation?
I know this video doesn't cover any expanded universe, but I would still like to mention than Bernard Cribbins was in Daleks - Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.
But the Curator is the Doctor, in the extremely distant future, and so is 10, 14 and the metacrisis. They’re the same person (ok not so much the metacrisis but still).
Really interesting, but each person went by too quickly, barely time to read the captions, let alone take in the person in their roles.
You missed a few. Most notably there were a couple actors from Enemy of the World that played timelords in later serials.
david tennant actually played 3 characters 10th doctor, meta crisis doctor and 14th doctor.even more if you included the dr who audios he also voiced other characters too 😂
He also played a background character in a 40th Anniversary animated special with Richard E grant as the Doctor (Non Canon) As well as John Smith in the Family of Blood.
If you wanna get technical, he’s also played Cassandra (New Earth)
Patrick Troughton also played one of the 3 stooges
I don't think thats Tony Caunter in Robot of Sherwood, apparently it was an actor called Trevor Cooper
What about Paul Darrow? He played Captain Hawkins in "Doctor Who and the Silurians" and Tekker in "Timelash".
Pretty sure the first picture is just the Doctor in the Romans
... But that might be because no images of the Abbot actually exist
Technically the Curator is the Doctor just far future. But then again I also tend to think that most cases of actual reused actors (if it's the same species and shapeshifting
egeneration is'nt involved) are actually relatives. So I guess doctor incarnations can be considered to be related.
Of course that's Eric Roberts as Bruce and the Roberts master, not Ainley, but I think they both count as shapeshifting in a way.
Donald Sumpter aged so much! And Ridgeway must be the greatgrandfather of Casali. That's what I meant by reused actors or even related actors meaning related characters. And for Erasmus Darkening he could really be anything - even something that does'nt actually look human at all. But I've seen theories where he was that Rassilon incarnation. So I guess there are a lot of cases where the same actor is playing the same character with different personas.
Mark Gatiss is iconic and also wrote a lot of fave episodes, he was a 'Who writer before he was a 'Who actor. Pauline Collins is also iconic as Samantha Briggs was almost a Companion and could have gone to have been one of the best Companions ever.
... Also, I wrote Mapp & Luvic instead of Mapp & Lucia. The brainrot is real. Here is it, I don't actually like Luvic he just reminds me of Sims 3 stuff I was obsessed with and which I need to separate.
Also, Robin Soans only returned to play a character who only exists to die, and is credited as his manner of death - "Chronolock Guy" dying by a Chronolock, and is played by a famous actor while "Alien Lady", "Habrian Lady", and "Elderly Lady" are played by extras, (it would be funny if Angela Clerkin was the redhead extra girl from Kassia and Tremas' wedding) which makes me think that's intentional, not relation wise as all four of the characters are apparently Habrians (if they were Trakenites then Nyssa would'nt be the last of her kind, which is a big part of her character) (married couple ALady and CGuy, single mom ELady with her daughter HLady, with HLady's father dying during the events that led the four of them to move to Earth) and is meant to reference Luvic's death\Traken's destruction. As right after that, Clara says "do Cybermen show mercy?" and there's also "Remember 82" said by the Doctor to a kid resembling a five year old Peter Davison. Clara and Adric are supposed to have parallels to each other. I guess said kid (he's 14 now) should come back as either an Alzarian or Trakenite if not as Fivey\a Fivey-esque Doctor himself, bringing the show Full Circle... WHICH IS ALSO THE NAME OF ADRICS DEBUT EPISODE. MORE REASONS TO BRING SAID KID BACK THEN
IM TURNING IT INTO A POST NOW
Anyway, wonder if Danny Boy and Richard Lazarus are from the same Lethbridge-Stewart branch as Bret and Sara. Or maybe there's just many such branches. (Like how we get various fictional Latimer branches.) And Gantok's from a species that all looks like that.
BTW when I first loaded it, and I moused over, I thought there was like... a third Robin Soans scene in the bottom right corner. Something like a whitish greyish cyanish modern-y room\corridor. So for a moment I thought he was the unexpected fourth doctor era name in "Devil's Chord", although said fourth doctor era name does'nt mean that cast or crew member will actually be working at "Devil's Chord", they might just be someone who was visiting on set.
Either that or it's like they were going to cast someone wholly new, but *random actor who used to be an extra in a scene in The Keeper of Traken Part 4 for 5 minutes when they were 18* stole the show with their and Jinkx's chemistry and ended up getting cast for a part.
But I'd like it if it was such a thing where Jinkx's character ends up getting overaged into June Page or something
2:14 is Robert Glenister
Correct. Not Arthur Cox!
I honestly thought Harry Sullivan was the Carnival of Monsters guy
Great video but no Michael Sheard?
There's also the woman who was in Fury From the Deep as that character who almost became a companion and Tooth and Claw as Queen Victoria
Can't believe William Hartnell is the first "doctor" actor had portrayed 2 or more different characters in doctor who series
By the way, u missed out Jenna Coleman, she portrayed different versions or eras of Clara Oswald & also Bonnie(one of the Zygon pretend to be her) from "The Zygon invasion" & "The Zygon inversion" episodes
Considering the previous Oswalds were confirmed in Name of the Doctor to be a result of inserting herself into the Doctor's timestream, they may not be counted as separate. But at the same time, Eric Roberts was simply Bruce possessed by the Master, so Bonnie might still be counted.
Could you say that Bernard Cribbins played more than 1 role in Doctor Who? I understand the Peter Cushing Dr. Who isn't a part of the official Doctor Who, but then again it's still somewhat the same story.
You left off a big one... Sylvester McCoy played the Sixth Doctor and the Seventh Doctor.
Dispite all the errors, I think you did a great job!
Here's some more.
Tony Osoba (Destiny of the Daleks, Dragonfire, and Kill the Moon)
Kevin McNally (The Twin Dilemma, Village of the Angels, Survivors of the Flux and The Vanquishers)
Paul Darrow (Doctor Who and the Silurians and Timelash)
Donald Pickering (The Keys of Marinus, The Faceless Ones, and Time and the Rani)
Michael Gough (The Celestial Toymaker and Arc of Infinity)
Kevin Stoney (The Daleks' Master Plan, The Invasion, and Revenge of the Cybermen)
I'm sure there is more out there, but I haven't got any off the top of my mind.
You missed Tom Chadbon
David Bradley was also a bird alien in the Sarah Jane Adventures who tried to fake the doctor’s death
Where is the doctor talking over the intro from? I have been trying to find it
It's a song called "Who is the Doctor," spoken words by Jon Pertwee, released originally in December 1972. HTH!
@@TikiKrissy Thank you very much
What songs are used in this video? Trying constantly to shazam both and rn not getting any results 😭
Song for Ten by Murray Gold
the first one is who is he doctor, and that is Jon Pertwee performing it
0:01 How would that work?
You missed Jenna Coleman playing, Clara, Clara, and Clara
TBF cockney Clara should've been a permanent companion.
David Tennant also played a character in Scream of the Shalka.
Faces of time outside the corridor of reality and some are similar but not the same or, as the doctor would say, don't look to close or realities will unravel or something like that?
What about my relative , David Collings
What's the second song? It's not listed in the description.
Song for Ten by Murray Gold & Neil Hannon
@@primedude07 Thank you!
Don’t kick yourself forgetting named? Make a part 2 or 3.
Actually the curator is another side of the doctor being maybe a past incarnation like 5°doc itself or a future one like tennant who is ruturning
What's the songs
I think the Curator was the doctor Bigenerating in an alternate universe and finding his way into this one
Ew, don't mention that.
Too much crammed into 3 minutes. Not enough time to read the history of the characters and episodes in which they appeared.
Jenna Coleman?
Clara
Oswin
Clara
I mean...i guess it doesn't count since technically...They're all the same..just pulled in...different points of time......my head hurts 😂😂
