    I love videos like this. I think it's fantastic to get ideas as to what your money will get you for cost of living expenses.
    I think both places looked great. I also enjoyed your counting the electric outlets, I kept hearing the Count from when I was a kid. 1, 2, 3. 3 electric outlets. Ah ah ah

    All Concrete building materials, bars on windows, bad workmanship on the construction and the suicide showers probably throws off Americans who never seen that before. But for under $300 bucks a month it's untouchable in the U.S. even in a horrible neighborhood.

      I've seen a lot of those bad housing in the USA, dilapidated inside, dark hallways at 350 dollars 1 room apartment on government subsidy. It is a step up from the mobile homes. Concrete materials because typhoon and termites are prevalent in the Philippines

    The biggest drawback to renting in the philippines is that the rent goes up 10% a year.every rental agreement i ever saw has that written in and most landlords try to brush that by you so you need to make sure what you are getting into or you end up having to move every two years.the rent always looks cheap to get you in but if you plan on staying awhile you need to be aware of this,just passing along my personal expierence that i learned the hard way.

    Hi, Brian I enjoyed your showcasing these two apartments you did a grand job. I would have to do a bit more research on the area, The price seems a bit high with there being no furniture. To set yourself up in a place at a cost of whatever your budget is. I would throw three grand $ at it to rig the place out for my needs. I would just stick to furnished places, less hassle and you don't need to tie yourself down to one place. This is for someone who has a connection with the area and has long-term goals in mind because investing otherwise is a bit foolish. Unless you're loaded and don't care about the money, then again you would not stay in these sorts of accommodations anyways lol
    Take care GOD Bless you and yours M

    Good service your giving Brian and it gives people some idea as to what you get for what you pay. Personally I could never live in either one of those apartments. Very poor building materials, the cabinets look really cheap and the echoing would drive me nuts. I don't think it was Brians microphone, it was the echoing from the design of the apartment. Good place for some, just not my cup of tea.

    Rent is ok but 2 months in front never heard of it here in Dumaguete City one month is the deal here problem is some landlords don't want to refund as they have spent your money so we always run out the deposit we don't pay last month as landlord already has it in deposit also always film any damage one landlord tried to get us to pay for new bathroom floor tiles cause here they extensively use bleach to clean which had bleached and dulled the tiles by previous tenants it never gets better only more dulled and 10000 peso deposit for electricity never heard of that here also I would never pay it and there is no law always deal with a landlord work out if he or she is a decent reasonable person as plenty of other rental options and if there are plenty of vacancies in an apartment block take it as a warning and look elsewhere too many landlords here are like in other countries not reasonable and a pain to deal with we have had good and bad lost our deposit once got it back by getting some work done by the landlord who was honest but hopeless at running a business look around and you will see abandoned semi finished houses everywhere and on inquiring you are told no budget bad planning is endemic in Philippines even Jollibee runs out of buckets to put their chicken in and runs out of Coca Cola regularly Mc Donald's have 8 breakfast items on menu but on one occasion I experienced they only had stock of one left.

      Most apartments are not fully furnished, you have to furnish it and make sure there is a working running water, the toilet is flushing and draining, apartment is cleaned before you move in because mostly it is not clean. Warm water is working before you move in. Check the closets because it might be broken just check every crook and cranny of the place. They might make you have it repaired if you move in without checking.

    Not everything here is beachlife and pina colatas. You need to come over here yourself and make sure the island life on an archipelago that is far from your homeland is what you want. You need to physically come here for at LEAST a month to make sure this is the life you want. Typhoons, earthquakes, landslides and flooding is the norm over here. You are truly on your own when you get here and Brian can only suggest places, but it is on YOU to find out. Manila is expensive. Living further from there is cheaper. But then that presents issues also. Nobody can tell you what is best for you but yourself. Just remember this. You are a guest here. You HAVE TO abide by their culture and customs. If yiu can't do that then you need to stay home. That's just the reality here. I can tell you that money goes faster here if you are not careful. You MUST have a guaranteed income, ie Social Security, a pension or both. If not, you are looking for trouble. Do your homework before you come. After that enjoy all of what the Philippines has to offer.

  • @archief1963
    @archief1963 ปีที่แล้ว

    Living in a 2 bedroom up and down echo chamber isn’t for all of us but good to know a typical whats available and how much. As far as $100 accommodations, do yourself a favour and pass on that. You have a good thing going with your TH-cam channel, and I can’t see it being advantageous to you, catering to the very bottom end. If you can’t afford at the very least what you just showed, you’re very likely shouldn’t even be looking at living in the Philippines for an extended period.
    Personal safety, comes into play, so you think you’d at least want to be able to secure yourself in your accommodations. These apartments clearly allow that from a minimalist standpoint.
    At least that’s my thoughts.

    Depressing to think about going back to that kind of an existence again. I had my fill of living in cheap apartments and surviving on bologna sandwiches when I was in my 20's. I could never be happy living like that now that I'm in my 70's. But I can empathize with someone seeking to escape a predicament with the law or an ex-wife that has taken him for everything.
