Well I've had a gut full of Australia so i'm going to try 22,239.97PHP per month. We'll see how it goes. I retire properly in 4.5 years and then my pension goes over your high budget numbers. I also love adventure so i'm going to do it. I know it can be done, it just depends what you are willing to forego. I am willing to forego alot to get away from the stress early.

Hi crum, a much better video, and a new narrative to a cost of living. I'll have to watch this one again to evaluate what my costs will run. This brand is the most credible cost of living ive seen.

Stanley, the info was very interesting.
The reason you got these low and high budgets is you picked the smallest and biggest numbers in each category -- that will give you unrealistic low and high totals, because some people may have no vices or but spend extra on western food or housing.
More interesting would be the highest and lowest budgets you got in the survey. The average budget that you calculated was very interesting, less than $1000 is amazing.
Enjoy your hobbies and the things you like to do -- having a right-sized budget and being comfortable and enjoying every day is great! :)

      Nothing amazing about it.
I live in mindanao and definitely on the lower end.
My petrol prices would be higher but then again I'm running 3 vehicles. (Small car, multicab truck and Honda wave)
Then again our rent is $0
We were gifted the house and lot by my wife's parents for our wedding but we had to undergo an extensive renovation.
      4k on gasoline for me.
I have told other expats that €800 is too much for us and I have been laughed at.
We grow our own vegetables and raise pigs and broilers.
Not everyone's cup of tea but for me and herself it's our own little piece of heaven.
I'd often barter vegetables for rice and such commodities that we don't grow.
No money changes hands and it in turn has pulled me closer within the community.
Our little farm provides all our needs and more.
I am still a long way from retirement. Still a good bit off 50.
You can still live comfortably here on a small budget if you know what you are doing

Thanks Stanley for the effort to provide the necessary info we would need. Curious how many American expats live in the Lipa area ? Seems a fairly cheap area to live but yea - under $400 is hard to imagine. Saw a video where one expat paid $300/mo. just on his medications over there ! (ouch) That might be me - I'm on 6 - if - I were over there ? -- Certainly has been good for you. -- I'm in Kentucky near Lexington where near here it's 30% below the national average cost of living. (better area than W Va Miss or Arkansas) -- One very impressive expat did a budget that was 70% below the US average cost of living 2023 about 10 miles S of Cebu in a gated community. Lipa looks pretty good to me. > Have a great day.

For that kind of money, you could live anywhere across Southeast Asia except for Singapore. Almost all would be cheaper and fancier than the ph BUT you ain't gettin laid easy. Your choice. Ill try Langkawi someday. Someone could live in a cave like a bear for $300us a month. If they wanted to. Wouldnt be veery fun, and your girl would be ugly.

Hi Stanley, I would like to ask a question regarding having a Schwab bank account. I had a conversation with a person when I visited Dumaguete regarding having a Schwab account. This person said that you could only use your ATM card for 6 months when out of the country or maybe in the same country. Have experienced anything like this in the past with your account? Many thanks in advance. 👍

I see all these TH-camrs talking about Schwab bank. Most of my money is purchases here are using no-fee U.S. credit cards that I pay with my U.S. bank account. I live in higher end area of Metro Manila but I do not understand the expat vloggers and their need for ATMs. And BTW: where I live I could not find 12 expats to ask. It might take me a month to meeting 12 expats to ask about cost of living.

Crum; good advice. Here's my situation - trolls are welcome, but will be ignored, since their comments are irrelevant and they are simply ill-prepared losers. My wife and I bought property 5 years ago, while we were living in HK, before relocating, from which we garner a decent rental income. We subsequently bought more property, all of which have increased significantly in value. We have a profitable business and substantial savings. We don't pay rent since we own our properties so our expenses are limited to daily costs and the occasional holiday. Our kids are in private schools and university. I won't give an exact figure, but our income exceeds our expenditure and money is not an issue. I didn't come here to survive. I came here to live. It seems that the 'tall poppy' syndrome is not a Filipino trait but universal.
