    My dad flew the Corsair in the Korean War, he never talked about it, so in the past few years it has sparked my interest wanting to learn more about him and his time in the navy then to the marines . He was stationed in the Philippines , and I only wished he talked about it so I would have understood him and respected him the way he should have. Thankyou for the o
    Illustion here on utube. I love you dad and Thankyou for your service to our country!,,,,,,🎧🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    It's amazing to hear the engine just keep pulling, sounds like almost no throttle changes throughout the routine all while watching the pilot working his butt off, head on a swivel and all the breathing under g loads, best video I've ever seen of a pilot working it.

    Some of the luckiest pilots on Earth that get to fly in these warbirds.
    My uncle flew a Thunderbolt and later on a Mustang in the ETO during WWII. As a kid listening to him talk about the planes he flew in and the ones that opposed him absolutely fascinated me. He told me that fear was always a part of each mission but that the USA had given a just turned 21 year old these magnificent machines to fly, he will always remember what a thrill it was. I'll bet the F4U pilots felt the same.

    Great video. Shows how well made those old war birds are. Made 70 plus years ago, still able to maneuver and do everything they were designed to do all those years ago. Now imagine having to do this with multiple birds everywhere with some of them trying to shoot you down.

    Pilot Chris Avery is no doubt 🧐 the One you want piloting when you'd travel! The Cosairs were a Beast to Land... On the Navy's Aircraft carriers alone. You couldn't see jack because of the planes long nose. It had a critical stall profile and same for dive 💣 bombing speed's. It takes a real Ace to operate that unit! The British also flew Corsairs. One has to see the Marine Naval training videos and true battle stories involving these craft.

      I almost went unconscious several times in some tail draggers learning aerobatics. I remember a time in a Bellanca Super-Decathalon that had a G meter and seeing about between 6 and 7 on the meter before I lost my vision. I regained vision in time to pull out. I did things in airplanes while in my early twenties that I would NEVER do today! I'm 54 now.

      It's so amazing they went from biplanes to that in about 15 to 20 years and they were rushed into service so fast they never really had a good chance and that goes for every country during the World War II every plane had its role and it was designed as such some just had better intelligence and people designing and working on them rather than the people in Europe there were probably wondering whether they had a job the next day or the plant would be bombed a little bit of dry humor there

    Does anyone know where - on the internet - to look for engineering drawings, i.e. cross sections, of the bends in the wings and of the connections of the wings to the circular fuselage? Those bends look good to the layman, but from an engineering standpoint they would have been unusually complex. Hopefully someone is checking for fatigue cracking regularly on this plane.

    • @givenfirstnamefamilyfirstn3935
      @givenfirstnamefamilyfirstn3935 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wings are lifed to a finite number of hours - and loadings for aerobatics planes. The aluminium/aluminum alloys crack to some extent with even small loads, steel has a minimum load needed before cracks propagate, it is fatigue resistant.

      And buckets of high altitude power too, the U.S. Navy had no bother providing multi speed, multi stage, intercooled and purely supercharged aero-engines. Pity the USAAF were in charge of developing the P-38, 39, 40, and 47 (though not the outstanding P-51), they could have been much faster and/or cheaper. Allison actually started off supplying the U.S. Navy for their airships.
