    There's no way Gibson is going to allow an $800 Epiphone to sound exactly like a $2500 Gibson. There has to be a difference. The Epiphone sounds great though.

    • @chrisking6695
      @chrisking6695 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The difference is in the electronic and hardware as well as the frets. Might have sharp frets or whatever. There's always something with cheaper guitars. I have a PRS SE. Sounds good. But it's a bitch to set up and I can tell there's sharp frets and what not. You won't get that with a custom shop.

    It does seem that the Epiphone model is a pickup change away from being the same as the Gibson models, minus the logo of course. A set of Slash's signature AFD Duncan's sounds like just the thing. It is surprising though that it sounds like the Gibson model has much higher output pickups than the Epiphone one.

    I have a question (though it is not specific to this video). Pete gets to play just about every new guitar or new version release going. Over the last eight years or so that he has been doing these Andertons videos he must have racked up well over a hundred and some clearly leave an impression that goes beyond just the latest product demonstration. Up to a while ago, he was associated with and inseparable from his purple Telecaster but it has neither been seen nor mentioned lately. Is it still his favourite guitar or has it now been replaced in his affections (perhaps by the Murphy Lab Les Paul)?

    I've tried a Gibson Slash standard and an Epiphone 50s Standard. Playing with the same amp settings the Epiphone is like 70% of the Gibson sound but if you increase the gain and tweak a bit you can get an 80% of the sound. Not a bad deal for 1/4 of the price.
