    I have 4 Epiphone guitars
    A new JJN gold Glory
    A recent casino
    A Wayne Static signature v
    And a 1994 Joe Pass
All nice guitars ,my main gripe with all the epiphones is the same gripe the poly is too thick and you can really tell at the binding and neck body contact points, outside of that there all for the really you do get your dollar's worth, the more expensive Epiphone are excellent the lower price still decent if you don't mind modding upgrades, the cheapest ones are still more playable and functional than other brands even at the worst.
The JJN signature models sound amazing and I use mine as a stunt double backup for my Gibson r54 and Gibson SG Jr

The Crestwood deserves to be at least B tier. I'd put it A tier. The look is very different, but the thing kills. I just bought one, and it has taken the #1 spot for me in live shows over my USA Les Paul standard, my Midtown, my '96 Strat...the pickups sound fantastic, the playability is really nice, the tremolo holds tune well, and it's lightweight so my back doesn't hurt after running around and jumping for a 4hr show

Straight up dude! I felt the same way about the coronet, these things are perfectly made and sound amazing. The lightness shouldn’t be overlooked, it’s light as a feather so you could play it all day and your shoulder/back wouldn’t feel a thing. Easy A tier for anyone who owns one.

Total badass. Then I played a $1600 Strat that was meh. On a whim on the way out I grabbed the Crestwood, and it wasn't just a better bargain for the money than the others...it was straight up better than the other guitars. Hey, just noticed a pic of my actual Epi LP Prophecy Plus EX @ 19:00 I had listed on Reverb - just sold a couple days ago. Beautiful blue quilt and the satin neck was comfortable, but I never saw one with an ebony fingerboard either…. just the rosewood. And the real abalone and mother of pearl inlays were very cool. That it ended up in B tier, confirms letting it go @ very close to what I paid for it in 2013. It was hefty at just an oz under 9 lbs and almost always in tune every time I picked it up, thanks to the Grovers and graphite nut. Solid Epi LP for the money.

I found a guitar shop with a nice Luthier who told me he gut get it for me and set it up. Probably a bad offer for him since it was super hard for him to set up possibly having to work on frets, nut and what not. As a honourable Luthier he set it up great and it is an amazing guitar. It would be great to hear how would you classify this guitar.

A few years later I got myself a Les Paul Custom Prophecy Plus (EMG81/85, purple finish, Mahogany body, Rosewood fretboard -> at first I thought it was Ebony since it was so dark; and it has a production error, where 1 of the 4 nobs is blue instead of purple -> I don't see it as an error, it makes it look just a tad bit more unique :D ). Also the logo on those guitars is so aesthetically pleasing. Les Paul’s are never more than B-tier when it comes to the appearance. I own the Tommy Thayer electric blue spaceman Les Paul, the 1959 Les Paul, 1960 Les Paul Tribute Plus & 2008 Les Paul Standard. All of them are great guitars but the '59 & the tribute plus stand out as the best.

Interesting list. Although they are ranked I dont thing you can go wrong with most if not all of the S-C rated guitars. Where would the Studio fit in on here?

the last epiphone i owned was in the early 90s. i never saw another one like it. it was a les paul, but it had the gibson headstock on it. it was super expensive. a great guitar but for a single flaw. the poly finish got soft when it was warm. the neck would become sticky. i would scotchbrite it, and it would play great for a few days, then my hand would smooth it out, and the neck would become sticky again. i sold it and never looked back.

I picked up a MKH epiphone back in 2018 and I love it to bits. The MHK Snofall was available at that time too, but I went with the more low profile black MKH. I decided against it because I already have an obvious signature guitar with the Schecter ZV Mirror. But I do sometimes wonder if I should have gotten the Snofall instead.

I have 3 Epi's, a '96 Korean Les Paul Standard, the '59 and a Crestwood Custom. Seeing the Crestwood (and the Wilshire + Coronet) in the C tier is a travesty, they all play and sound incredible, and are sooo affordable. Dumping them in C simply because you don't like the way they look is very shallow, (I think they look ace) considering how highly rated they are with people who've actually taken the time to try them.

    • @motorrebell
      @motorrebell ปีที่แล้ว +1

Indeed , the Coronet Exceeded my expectations by FAR ! ! The Crestwood , Wilshire & Coronet are one of the few guitars that have a " single piece Neck through Headstock " Design ! ( with small added side pieces ) ! Amazing made - sounding resonating Guitars !

@@motorrebell oh I know, the Crestwood, with that crazy sweet resonance and the fab mini humbuckers sounds so so close to like a Rickenbacker 360 or similar Rick "semi" (think Peter Buck)

The best epi's I play are the Elitist Series.... I have a les Paul standard Plus, in HoneyBurst... I'll play that over most of the Gibsons.... even the case is better than gibsons.... either thru my Fender Blues DeVille 4-10 or my Carvin V3 with Mesa Engineering cabs... try an Elitist if you can find one... usually about $1000 to 1400 now... mine was $750 way back when
