That little print was a demonic print. I told him everyone was unhappy & to go back & redo it. I said take off the print, clean up her toes & leave her natural. I also said to put it on another video & show us what he’d done. Stay tuned. I hope he does it.

If you had asked this table what it wanted to be, like Louis Kahn famously asked the brick, a Mayan calendar probably would not have been the first words out of its mouth. You did a good job and the technology is interesting, but in my opinion a straightforward restoration would have been a better result.

You are very skilled, but this was really hard to watch. Once I saw the top during the cleaning, I was awed by the beautiful grain. In one of the comments, you said you used plaster in the coating. Maybe in a future video you can show how to reverse.

I clicked on this for a restoration. The veneer was so unique. I’m Mexican. While I found it interesting that you decided to use the laser to etch the Aztec calendar on a table, I think it would’ve been better on something that had no other remedy. Maybe a more modern table. But that’s just my opinion. You might want to correct your title though. 😬
I didn't know it was the Mayan calendar that he put on the table top. Which makes it even worse because he painted it first off and then mine calendar doesn't have anything to do with that year of the table oh, it doesn't go. You're right he needed something more modern put a Mayan calendar on SMH
Why not restore the lovely burl and put this table back to rights as it should be, and save etching the calendar for a table without all that natural beauty? I’m sorry, I usually really like your work but this was just sad to see.😔

I do like the idea, and having grown up in SoCal, I still have an Aztec calendar on my wall in NZ. Just not sure that was the right table top to do it on. Hopefully the paint has protected the lovely veneer underneath and it can be saved, and you could do this technique on something that would benefit from it more.
i can definitely see how your design would appeal to more modern tastes...taking a piece of furniture that was in disrepair and well past its prime...and turning it into a modern, fresh piece is an art...furniture is meant to be used...i can see that this piece has a chance to be used and not thrown away...so bravo 👏🏻

It had a lot of insect damage that would have made restoration very difficult. But, I was enchanted by the wood grain and completely disappointed to see it painted over. Personally, I would have preferred an incomplete restoration with defects over a pretty finish covering the natural wood.
I like your channel, but this time you lost me, destroying that beautiful look of the wooden surface on top and replacing it with that embarrassing pseudo maya optic.
i didnot beleive you did what you did to the top of the table, it was extremely beautiful, in all the years i have been in restoration, never see a top like that. and you just painted in a very ugly yello and ..... no words
Your work was excellent, as always. Though the end result was not to my taste, I appreciate that you were experimenting and trying something new and different. Since so many of us really like the carvings on the table-base and the stunning wood grain on the tabletop, perhaps you could do a sequel video to this one. It is alright to decide that something experimental did not go fully the way you thought it would. You could remove the paint from the base and bring out the carvings with stain/clear finish. Then you could remove the paint from the top, fill the cracks, and clear coat the wonderful inlay. Looking forward to the next video.
I literally gasped when you painted over the middle of that top. And then to add insult to injury you cut a laser image into it. Why did you do that? Was there something that we couldn’t see?

In his defence though the market for old style furniture that looks beautiful to me and many others is flat, it doesn't go or fit in many modern style homes. Tons of it , even in new condition is being thrown out all the time, Second, hand is a big handicap too. Its best chance was probably to have a modern twist even if it was sacrilege.

That’s such a beautiful little table even before you start your work. Just being sanded down & in the natural it’ll be gorgeous. It was such a good pick. Now sanded I was exactly right! OMGosh! Imagine what you’re going to be able to sell THAT for! Oh no… I’m thinking you’re going to paint her. You put that beige paint on her. Then ahhh… you put that demonic print on top of her!
Ok, now can you please do another video of how you took this amazing table and made it back to beautiful again. When you stripped it it was amazing!! Please don’t leave this table like this, shabby chic and grey is OUT!! Is the top able to be restored or did that laser cut into it? Я не эксперт в ремонте деревянных изделий и возможно идея окрашивания столешницы принадлежала хозяину вещи, но лично мне она кажется неудачной. Теперь что касается монтажа видео. Что не понравилось: Очень много времени посвящено распаковыванию лазерного гравёра. Считаю это лишним. С другой стороны вообще не показан момент крепления столешницы в оси, она банально приклеена? Посажена на штифты? Не то что бы претензия к звуку, но на 14:57 звук работы распилочного станка присутствует некоторое время, когда видеоряд уже демонстрирует нам другую картинку... Понравилось же то, что автор демонстрирует название материалов, которые используются в ролике перед камерой.
Это не мастер! Это- понторез! Ах, посмотрите,- вот у меня какая химия, ах, какая у меня разной крупности наждачка, ах, а какой у меня,- муха не сидела,- лазерный гравер! Настоящий мастер покажет приёмы работы, а не фигню всякую. Вот вместо исходника, хоть и требующего усилий и тщательной, аккуратной, нежной работы, получилась полная фигня!

I don't normally make negative remarks on people's efforts. I do understand personal tastes and so on and that mine not be the sane. In this case, however, I was delighted to see that gorgeous burl veneer and looked forward to a sympathetic restoration of what had been a lovely table in its youth. I can only say how horrified at the result I am. If you wished to experiment with the laser etc. you should have used a lesser table(particle board comes to mind). This was dreadful. I don't know if it can now be restored but perhaps next time be more mindful. As for the laser design. It is the calendar stone of Motecuhzoma I, an Aztec ruler in the 16th C. Not Mayan at all. The laser may reproduce the detail sufficiently to read it but not here.
I remember my father and grandfather handing me the big nails from their repair jobs along with a brick, and a hammer. I had to pound the nails until straight.

The contrast in colour for the type of table it is I'm sorry but it doesn't do it justice. An original resto should have been the order the day hear. Sorry this is my first dislike since I have been subscribing to your channel. What about a make over video. Remove the engraving and the beige paint. And leave the table in its original design. If it is repairable/ removable (the engraving part)
It's been a while since I've been meaning to do it in a modern style. Just think I've had that coffee table for 5 or 6 years. I've always thought that there were holes under those huge groutings, I was amazed when the walnut briar of the top came out. I was very undecided whether to continue or not then we know how it went. However, if you want you can eliminate the color and the engraving I added the stucco to the paint for that too.

Так и не понял зачем все закрасили, да и ещё такую фактурную центральную часть столешницы, вроде бы все восстановили очень даже приемлемо, а пото все под краску, задумки не понял, хороший столик мог бы получиться

Посмотрела целиком, потому что заинтриговали многочисленные комментарии о закрашенном божественном рисунке дерева )) Дерево и правда красиво, но как я поняла там какая-то проблема с той поверхностью. А итоговый результат мне понравился. Светлый бежевый цвет добавил свежести, мне кажется

That’s such a beautiful little table even before you start your work. Just being sanded down & in the natural it’ll be gorgeous. It was such a good pick. Now sanded I was exactly right! OMGosh! Imagine what you’re going to be able to sell THAT for! Oh no… I’m thinking you’re going to paint her. You put that beige paint on her. Then ahhh… you put that demonic print on top of her!

Please don’t leave this table like this, shabby chic and grey is OUT!! Is the top able to be restored or did that laser cut into it? Автор видео имеет много химии и средств для обработки дерева и безусловно умеет с ними работать. После шпатлёвки фигурных ножек какой резон был их красить? Я не эксперт в ремонте деревянных изделий и возможно идея окрашивания столешницы принадлежала хозяину вещи, но лично мне она кажется неудачной.
Теперь что касается монтажа видео. Что не понравилось: Очень много времени посвящено распаковыванию лазерного гравёра. Считаю это лишним. С другой стороны вообще не показан момент крепления столешницы в оси, она банально приклеена? Посажена на штифты? Не то что бы претензия к звуку, но на 14:57 звук работы распилочного станка присутствует некоторое время, когда видеоряд уже демонстрирует нам другую картинку...
Понравилось же то, что автор демонстрирует название материалов, которые используются в ролике перед камерой.
Это не мастер! Это- понторез! Ах, посмотрите,- вот у меня какая химия, ах, какая у меня разной крупности наждачка, ах, а какой у меня,- муха не сидела,- лазерный гравер! Настоящий мастер покажет приёмы работы, а не фигню всякую. Вот вместо исходника, хоть и требующего усилий и тщательной, аккуратной, нежной работы, получилась полная фигня!

Столик замечательный) и мастер молодец, но я бы не ришился такую инкрустацию шпона под покраску, а вот сами ножки я бы поменял, они сильно поедины. Но в любом случае, хорошая работа да и одним столиком меньше на свалке.

I don't normally make negative remarks on people's efforts. I do understand personal tastes and so on and that mine not be the sane. In this case, however, I was delighted to see that gorgeous burl veneer and looked forward to a sympathetic restoration of what had been a lovely table in its youth.
I can only say how horrified at the result I am. If you wished to experiment with the laser etc. you should have used a lesser table(particle board comes to mind). This was dreadful. I don't know if it can now be restored but perhaps next time be more mindful.
As for the laser design. It is the calendar stone of Motecuhzoma I, an Aztec ruler in the 16th C. Not Mayan at all. The laser may reproduce the detail sufficiently to read it but not here.

The contrast in colour for the type of table it is I'm sorry but it doesn't do it justice. An original resto should have been the order the day hear. Sorry this is my first dislike since I have been subscribing to your channel.
What about a make over video. Remove the engraving and the beige paint. And leave the table in its original design. If it is repairable/ removable (the engraving part)
It's been a while since I've been meaning to do it in a modern style. Just think I've had that coffee table for 5 or 6 years. I've always thought that there were holes under those huge groutings, I was amazed when the walnut briar of the top came out. I was very undecided whether to continue or not then we know how it went. However, if you want you can eliminate the color and the engraving I added the stucco to the paint for that too.
