I've seen a lot of laps on the Nordschleife from very fast road cars, and when I started the 919 run, I had to check I didn't have my playspeed at 1.5x. It's truly insane. I still can't really wrap my head around it..
This car is so fast that I still genuinely get nervous watching the in car camera view when he's going through those tight twists at like 150 kmh. He's going so fast it looks like he's not even in control of the car but that driver just keeps accelerating like he doesn't even feel anything, took me a long time to understand it but these racecar drivers are truly unmatched athletes. It's just absolutely incredible seeing those cars stay so stable going through turns at 150 kmh, the physics on all of the aero is just stunning when on display.
It’s pretty impressive honestly. I race cars and my peak sustained G load is about 3, and let me tell you even 3 G lateral can make you uncomfortable. Your neck will hurt after some time and you’ll be sore the next day. I can imagine he’s doing over 5 G in some of these corners, possibly more. Pretty nutty.
What’s crazy is Timo said he could go even faster but the Porsche team said it wasn’t worth the risk. I hope we can see a human driven sub-5 minute lap from Porsche, but idk if the new 963 would be as good of a platform for an EVO prototype as the 919 was.
The road is called the Bundesstraße 412, and we are looking north at the Pflanzgarten entrance of the Nordschleife. i looked it up on maps because of this comment, have a good day
The Mercedes F1 W11 beat it on the Spa track but hasn’t really done a Nurburgring record yet. If the 919 is already this damn fast and the F1 W11 is faster, I can’t even imagine just how fast it’ll be.

yeah, the amount of grip a car can get from aero is very counterintuitive
Not to mention this there’s a huge dip right before this corner where you can often catch air
