  • This is just one of the few ways of testing a Magnetron, as time go by I will show you all the other different ways of testing the magnetron, but for now let your brain feed on this one video for now, when I get more time I will show you the different ways of testing the magnetron.

    Continuity or a resistance reading from filament to ground is actually a very uncommon failure mode for magnetrons. The vast majority of magnetron failures involve low emission and resulting low current draw, which is not something that can be tested statically (with a multimeter). So the test in this video will only cover less than 10% of magnetron failures.

      What other tests are there?

    • @pocket83squared
      @pocket83squared 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JamesENjeruN The Tater-Tot Test (⁴T, or "forty check," as it's known in the industry) is extremely effective. Return the magnetron in question to its appliance, and test to see if tots will warm enough to emit steam when split open; if they do, the magnetron is functioning. I recommend performing this test occasionally on every microwave, just to be sure.

      Sometimes a magnetron can give you good reading and then sometimes that same magnetron ain't working good. That's how magnetron is sometimes.

    Continuity is ok but when with body ground then sowing some reading, can i guess that's called bad ??

    My magnetron passed these two tests just fine, but still didn't cook. There was 3000 volts at the magnetron (yes, I have a high-voltage probe and know how to use it). I replaced the magnetron today, and everything works fine. SO, while these tests will show certain failures, there are obviously other ways for a magnetron to fail.

      The test in the video only detects the obvious. Your defective magnetron might have had a cracked (ring) magnet which is also a common fault occurrence that the video test won't detect.

    Even the test passed on 4 filament pin socket , it does not mean the magnetron is good. If the magnet cracked, the magnetron will not worked. So not only on pin needed to worked on. Try to inspect by visual the magnet and other parts of the magnetron that might loose plate attachment.

    I performed the test on the magnetron and the results would suggest that it is fine. I notice NO crack in the magnets either. I have a Panasonic Prestige 1300W inverter microwave oven. The issue was that it would chip the breaker after 2-3 secs. The switches tested fine. If I disconnect the magnetron from the inverter board microwave does not chip out. Once I connect it the issue occurs again. Any insight?

      Hi. the thing with them Panasonic Microwave Inverter Oven. is that the circuit board components does be the problem. some of the components does go bad causing the breaker to trip. try plugin on another microwave on the same plug. you will see the breaker will not trip. but if the breaker trip is because the plug is over loading causing the breaker to trip. I hope this answer your question. if not feel free to comment.

    My GE microwave magnetron has continuity between the plugs, and has unmeasurable electrical resistance between any of the two plugs and the case. So from testing continuity point of view it is still good. But the top radiator is loose on both edges. and the microwave does not produce heat when this magnetron is inserted. So I guess a not-well-connected radiator could be the Culpit. Anyone has any idea about this? Thanks.
