For being an AWD BMW, sub 4,000 LBS is definitely considered "lightweight" now, which is crazy. Didn't think anything with nearly the same weight as a Challenger would be considered lightweight. At least it's not 6,000 LBS like the M5.
It’s a great car! However, my RWD comp version is still lighter than the CS, (but not the CSL). I have a carbon roof, and a ton of weight reductions, especially with a titanium exhaust. I weighed it at 3749 with a full tank of gas. The X drive adds quite a bit of weight. I wouldn’t mind a CS one day. Until then, I will enjoy and be very grateful for my G82 Comp RWD. :)
🇬🇧Hi Chris. The automatic gear-changes from that car are super-fast, right after you kindly stopped for that bird! I watched the Topher’s video in his X3 right before yours but as he points out the X3 is more of a Luxury Commuter’s ride, than what you were driving and I saw him there in your rear-view mirror following lol. I would rather have this BMW in that ‘Brooklyn Grey’ did you call it? I wasn’t sold on that light blue colour.
I never drove a truly fast car on the street, but I did own a liter bike. Riding it on the street was frustrating 99% of time. It was even a bit too much on some of the tighter race tracks. While I’m tempted to trade my Audi S4 for an RS3 or an M3, I’d probably end up being happier with an M340i xDrive for daily driving. Still, the temptation for more is hard to resist.
it's an ok car but i hate the beaver teeth grill. hell i rather go with the older ones than the new one, but if i got the new one it'll go with a different front end
The M3 and M4 are blessed with the last vestiges of the good parts of BMW's modern interiors, corrupted only by the big iDrive 8.5 screens. I had a loaner 330i recently while our G01 X3 was in for service, and I honestly liked it a lot more than the X1 I'd had prior. The 3 actually still had physical buttons for things. Wow! Amazing. As for the M4 CS here, I have to say, I could see this... if it was like $20k less expensive. I know that isn't realistic in today's market, but today's market is terrible. Maybe that's less a BMW problem and more an industry-wide problem. But wow, I was surprised how smooth and quiet this car seemed on video when not being driven aggro-style. That's one of the things that worried me - that it'd be too sporty to be a good daily, but that hardly seems to be the case.
Yeah it sucks when a car actually sounds decent but still has fake engine sound being piped-in. I'd probably turn that off by whatever means necessary if I owned one.
If you don’t mind my asking, what settings do you use on your GoPro when filming? I’m struggling a lot with grain even in conditions with more than enough lighting.
Hahaha, nice joke. CS really? 3900 pounds...You are one passenger away from the weight of a Tesla model 3...this is unacceptable. It could be the best car in the world..but LIGHTWEIGHT? This is idiotic.
@@hhaste Yeah i understand that the weight is relative. But there is really no excuse for the engineering. It should be at least 200 pounds lighter, and i mean the normal edition. This is just lazy, they shouldn't get a pass on this. If you are talking about "normal" cars, extra weight isn't the end of the world. But for any kind of enthusiast's car, this is bad. For example when i drive my Daihatsu Sirion (a old cheap shitbox here in europe), which is barely 2000 lbs, after my Tesla Model 3, the difference of the weight alone makes the Sirion more fun to throw around the corners. The abilities of those two cars couldn't be any more far apart, BUT the consequences of Tesla's weight are unavoidable. Now for an electric car, this added weight is understandable. With every generations added weight, we are now at a point where the weight of the car can't be masked. The only way to really feel the effect, is to drive the lighter cars of the past. It really is just a boiling frog metaphor.
@@G82Watts Handling can't mask the feel of the weight. As i mentioned the tesla model 3 has far more superior handling than the other car i mentioned, i can feel it anyway and instantly. I also have a turbocharged 2003 mazda miata, i won't even spend more words about that kind of difference. Theater and feeling is everything to 99.9% of enthusiasts, not laptimes and acceleration figures. Now if someone says they can't feel the weight, i bet they are just inexperienced and/or unskilled. Also if you had a same M4 CS but 200 pounds lighter, and less horsepower to achieve the same power to weight ratio, the lighter car would be far more exciting, better performing and all the consumables would last longer. Weight is everything.
Topherception!
The best 'ception 🤣
Lowkey loving the snake eyes more than the old one especially with the unlock sequence they do
They also go with the bottom carbon intake slants really well.
no unlock sequence for CS models, just competitions have them.
glad it's still a straight 6. not a stupid 4 banger hybrid *cough* mercedes *cough*
You drive a v8 right?
@goodtimes8518 yea, i do actually
Agree, I could see myself going to an I6, but an I4 turbo would be a hard sell for this kind of money.
Yup I just upgraded my 4.0 V8 C63 for a 3.0 I6 M4 CSL - apart from the noise, it’s a better car in every way
I got a 4 banger amg / v8 amg And like 10 other cars in the house. The M4 is god tho bmw
How am I in a snowstorm while you're driving an M4 in the sun

But the M5 isn’t 6k🤔
That g90 m5 would and has already spanked f90, rs7 ep, e63s
@@Sunny-jl6mr but is it as desirable as an f90? no
@@ShaiyanHossain Speak for yourself. I had no interest in an F90 over an M4, but I just put down a deposit for the G90 with delivery in march
This steering wheel is something else. Already ordered to my G87.
This car is unreal
I can’t believe this doesn’t have a 360 camera. The base $20k VW Jetta has a 360 camera.
one pull at 21:35, launch control at 22:00, you're welcome I just saved you 20 minutes

Your insights into the performance and handling of the M4 CS were so informative! Thanks for sharing great reviews, Chris! 💯
Gonna need more backroads there where you can "despawn" cars in front of you with thetopher lol
i want the m3, base model. with an exotic color. if i could get it in the future i'll keep it as much as i can
$137k that’s insane

Best m4 ever made imo
Still can’t believe these CS models have AWD as standard . M cars needs RWD only

I LIKE YOUR VIDEOS. NICE BMW AND ITS STEERING WHEEL.
Holy shit.. that's fast.
Question for topher was the behind the wheel scary for you? And was the permit test easy or hard ? 🎉 cuz i wanna be a pro like you. And drive alot.
