I've done that a couple of times recently. My last pickup I had to turn around in the relatively small dock area to get to my door and wasn't in the right spot to get a good setup. I placed a glove in line with the dock a ways out and actually ran right over it with my tandems as I turned in. That got me lined up nicely to complete the back easily.
@We are all brainwashed he said _force,_ not _request._ They need to simply refuse to load the trailer if the driver is still hooked up. Best way to do that is to have a bobtail parking area that is visible from the shipping office. When they see the driver park there, they give the lumpers the green light to load the trailer.
Reminds me of a specific dock at McLane in Tacoma Washington. Trucks had to come in at a specific order as well as leave in that same order because the docks have no room in front. Everyone spent an hour just getting into the door.
I had a yard hustler give me a hard time about my speed when backing a trailer. I move at the speed of what I'm safe doing and seeing stuff like this just serves as a reminder that slow is smooth and smooth is fast
It's easy to back a trailer in quickly when you do it multiple times a day at that one location. If you're backing into a new location every couple of days and might not be back for a couple weeks or months, if at all, you need to take the time necessary to do it right and safely.
This style approach really helped me with exact type of situation. I was using a 90 degree which was always a struggle 20 minutes Greatly appreciate your instructions!
Suggestion: When you enable the blind blackness do it realistically and not based on which side of the truck is more relevant or where walls/buildings exist. That might even be easier to code too. Oh, and thanks for all you do with this channel. Very helpful.
If you're referring to the blind spots, he does have them pretty realistic. They are based on what you can and can't see from the driver's seat. The direction the trailer is pointing and the location of any nearby walls, buildings, and vehicles are very relevant to where your blind areas are.
Great job on the videos, thank you they have helped me so much. I am new to driving a truck(3 months), could you do a video for driving in the snow(in general) for safety, but also for backing as well( like after a snow fall and can't see dock lines)? Thanks again! I watch every new video as it comes out.
@@MyTruckingSkills i can’t wait for your game to come out. I’m definitely getting it. Thank you for taking the time to put out videos like these to help us. God bless you man.
It's just a suggestion but, if you use a different color other than black (which is a very contrasting color) for the blind spots it could be a little more realistic because human brain has ability of imagination that make them assume surrounding in the blind spots which have similar structure and color. I suggest using a little less contrasting color like light grey which scares me(?) a little less. (I mean, blind spots themselves already begin to scare me, you know... )
Yeah it works where there's a place to exist once you've unhooked. But a lot of these places are tight because space is at a premium. IOW once you're unhooked, there's nowhere for you to go.
@@cryptonator1988 At this particular shipper, it's in the middle of an extremely congested, international shipping district. This is next to Miami International Airport. Unfortunately, no place to go if you disconnect.
@@dchawk81 can't remember where it was, but the policy was "back into any even numbered door, disconnect and park your truck in the odd numbered door location". Worked like a charm

When there are no lines i sometimes drop a glove or put anything down in the parking lot to give me a reference to wrap my trailer around.

Places with small docks need to force trucks to disconnect from trailer while unloading or loading. Really makes life easier
Most of them do, the drivers are lazy.

When I meet trucking students, I recommend My Trucking Skills, and most of them tell me , they know your channel, you became famous my friend :)
That's awesome!!! All I care that new drivers are learning from my content.

My general opinion of yard hustlers is f them.
There's usually a reason they're in the yard and not on the road.

Nice! That place can be tricky. There are a few methods to the madness there.

I'll take it into consideration
Ok so now that you are in, how do the others get out...🤔
I know right!! They just have to wait I suppose. There are lots of places I deliver that do that

Make life easier make trucks detach from trailers.

I hate Black spot
What do you mean not alot of room ,there's plenty of room for profanity!🤬
stupid question: can you unhook and hook your trailer at any angle, it might make it little bit easier to back in extreme tight spot
Yes you can, it's just a little bit tougher because you don't have anything to help you line up, so getting out and looking is a must!
@@MyTruckingSkills true that.
goal is must
This was a doubt I had as well as a rookie good info to know 👍
