With 305 horses, RWD, and a 6-speed manual. The 2014 Mustang V6 still represents one of the best performance bargains you can buy today. Those of you seeking the most bang for your buck should put one at the top of your list. While those of you seeking more luxury and refinement should look at some of the Mustang's rivals.

The Modern V8s are even better, but damn, 0 to 60 in 5 seconds with a 14 second quarter mile at over 100 MPH is pretty damn impressive for a base model car with a v6.

Here I am commenting at the end of 2018, but yeah, I currently have a 2002 Stang with the V6.
Now that i have a job that actually pays well, I'm looking for a new car. And as it just so happens, this is the car I'm looking at.
I refuse to become one of the internet memes regarding Mustang drivers. That said, 305HP is more than enough for me. Even as a V6, she sounds pretty boss either way.
Its also easier to find a clean V6 edition than the GT. lol

Rented a 2014 Mustang V6 Premium in Orlando for a week and I was pretty impressed by it! It got good mpg, the engine sounded fantastic, it produced 305bhp which is not bad for a V6 and it honestly doesn't feel like a slow car when you put your foot on the accelerator, I even got it drifting a couple of times and a few donuts lol and of course it looked really menacing. It's a great car and I'm seriously considering buying one!

The base Mustang can certainly make a fun car for a first-time driver. The price is very affordable, you'll get much more power than anything in the C-segment, not to mention enjoy some pretty stylish looks and have the ability to perform smoky burnouts. Just be sure you remain responsible with this car, it's fast and fun and the temptation can be quite high for new drivers to speed and drive aggressively. If you feel you can handle all that, we can recommend this car.

Great review. In my opinion, unless you are street racing, this car with a manual transmission will have all the power you need. After all, it is only 1/2 second slower to 60 than the V8 and it is a whole second faster than my 89 mustang GT was. Plus you may get 30 mpg with some careful highway driving!

  • @HorsepowerHouse
    @HorsepowerHouse 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Old post, I know, but a random question about this car - what do people do about how low the passenger seat is? Especially if it isn't a powered seat. That seat is ridiculously low for an average adult (even a female who is 5'8".) Who the hell designed this, tested it, and thought it was ok to NOT even be able to see over the dash (passenger side only.) We test-drove this car and that was the ONLY complaint we have - and will prevent us from buying this model. I mean how ridiculous. Other than "installing" some stupid DIY spacers, or throwing $500 at it with a powered model's module, what is the fix for this? Seriously, in 2014, you have to install some crappy "spacers" to raise a seat that shouldn't be that low to begin with. Everyone complains about it online. SERIOUSLY, FORD???!!!

When it comes to the steering, there's an option in the dashboard setup to change it from standard, sport, and comfortable. The sport steering mode is super tight and responsive. And with about $5,000 extra, you make this base model V6 push 520hp and beat all the stock muscle cars and most sports cars.

  • @mattmaverick703

That V6 is no base V6. This is the 24V DOHC H.O. V6 Cyclone Engine. Surprised Ford gives this as a base engine for the Mustang. I have a variant if this Cyclone in my 2010 Ford Fusion SPORT yes 1st Gen top of the line Fusion, and it's a beast. You can hear it roar stock it sounds good in this video. It remains a mystery to me why Ford reversed the position of the tachometer and speedometer on the 2014 base mustang. The speedometer SHOULD be to the right of the tachometer like on my 2007 mustang. Very annoying to me. With an automatic transmission the tachometer is of little functional use anyway on the base mustang. Not like you are going to be manually speed shifting or such. I find myself peeking around my left arm, when it is on the steering wheel, to see how fast I am going. PIA.

Performance is comparable to the original 67 Shelby GT-350.
22K price is almost as low as the price of a hothatch.

Great vid. I own a 2014 Mustang perf package, everything you say is accurate. It is indeed a great car for the money. There is one thing that I hate though; the drive by wire system really sucks: you take your foot up of the gas pedal and it takes 2 sec to drop to 1K rpm... this is ridiculous... and takes a bit part of the fun away

Who gives a shit whether the dash is made of plastic or soft touch materials? Soft touch materials=weak or not durable. Hard plastuc is more durable. Besides, what person is rubbing the dash all the time? If you want soft materials like leather, buy a luxury car.

I've had mine for over a month and the only thing that took some time getting used to was shifting. I know how to drive stick but it was just that head shaking/wobbling thing you talked about in this vijiah.... I love my car. Ya V8s are cool, my previous vehicle was a 5.9L V8 and I got tired of the 9 miles to a gallon.
If I really have the need for speed, I'll just drive my girlfriend's SS camaro lol.

Ahh well i cant buy it since ford has a hold on ALL 2005-2014 Ford mustangs. No ford dealers will sell their used mustangs until they get the replacement part in. Quite frankly if there was no sales hold these 2013-2014 Mustangs would be alot cheaper.

Tina Nichols you have to use your second key to crank up the car and go into the settings on the dash and disable the "mykey" settings the owners manual explains with a little more depth.

I sounded like a douche because I was replying to a bunch of dudes who were acting like vaginas. Seriously. What did that fact have to do with the review? If this guy thought the mustang came out in 1980 the review would still be the same. If he thought it was new it would still be the same. You like what you like and this isn't a presentation of the history of the mustang. This is a review of a modern day mustang which has very little in common with the old ones.

As a note, and most people already know this. 0 to 60 times are at approximately sea level, with about a gallon of gas in the tank, with a 150 pound test driver, and racing slicks. 2013 v6 mustang with the above is about 5.1 seconds.

Let there be mustang (ACDC Let there be rock-based)
    00:13
In the beginning, back in 1965,
man didn't know about a muscle car, being produced.
The white man had the Ford,
the black man had the Cadillac,
No one knew what they was gonna do, but Ford had the news, he said:
Let there be sound... there was sound
Let there be power... there was power
Let there be horse... there was horse
Let there be muscle.... there was muscle
    OOOOOW LET THERE BE MUSTANG!!!
(this is just an simple rip-off xD)

  • @AladdinSaneNYC

2theredline: I dig the Retro vibe of the '14 Mustang but I wonder if it's too much power for a first time driver. You know, as many have said elsewhere: it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast far slow. Whatcha think? No pussy here, but patting the gas lightly to cruise slow in city seems difficult, speaking for myself. The machine is a beaut but even the V6 is quite a powerhouse. When will the Turbo charged Turbo four make it's debut. I could go for that, easy.
    Peace! AladdinSane :-

  • @bliglum
    @bliglum 11 ปีที่แล้ว

No, 19inch rims should not be standard.. Yes they look better, but making them standard would boost the base price, and some people actually prefer smaller wheels.. Because cheaper tires, and a softer ride thanks to those big balloon tires ; )..
Same story with the lip spoiler, some people don't like spoilers, so why jack up the price for a part that some people don't even want?.

Who ever made this video need to grow up and be professional. This video to me was at first good but within 15 minutes it became known that he was biased towards the more expensive models. Some people can't afford the more expensive so they have to settle for something like this and you should really think about that.

They are starting to make the Mustang ugly as shit again huh. The retro look help revive the car in the models of 05-09. Wont be long now until it will look like most of the other cars these companies build(bland and lacking style). Looks like I'll be keeping my 08 Shelby.
