John is THE G.O.A.T can sing any genre with such a powerful controlled range. He can easily change genres during a song including comedy. Jimmy is our King of rock, soul and blues and they fit together so well. Great mates. Try When the War is Over.
John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes could have fronted the biggest bands on the planet. We are very proud of them here in Oz, but wait, theres others, Kate Ceberano, Marcia Hines, Renee Geyer, Ian Moss, Vika and Linda Bull, Gurrumals Wiyanthu, which id love you to hear. Hauntingly beautiful. I cant understand a word gurramul says as its an aboriginal language but its beautiful
Diesel (Mark Lizotte) is the often forgotten third part to this amazing song. Diesel is a wonderfully strong and soulful performer in his own right (and it doesn't hurt that he's pretty damn hot) He is also Jimmy's brother in law. Brilliant guitarist and magnificent voice - check out some of his recordings
John is a legend in Australia, his voice is so powerful. He is so versatile love songs, rock, swing and great LIVE on-stage with Melbourne Sympthony Orchestra. HELP is a favourite one, his relationship with his audience is phenomenal.
Man your spoiling us with all these awesome reactions to our Aussie artists. Life is good 👍 keep them coming. This trio of Farnsey, Barnsey and Diesel is just fire 🔥
Best birthday song anyone could wish for right there!! They also did When the War is Over together. If you’re planning to go down the Farnham rabbit hole I’m sure all your Aussie subs would agree that the one to listen to first would be his version of HELP live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It’s pretty spectacular to say the least. Happy Birthday!
Hey Didy. I have definitely missed your birthday - but I hope you had good. John Farnham is a legend in the performing arena. Of course you know Jimmy is from Cold Chisel. Love this one from these 2 legends. .💫
When the war is over John Farnham and Jimmy barnes live. This one was a John Farnham concert and Jimmy comes out and surprises John on stage. I'm glad you chose the live version of this song as it is much better than the recorded one.
Didy, I recently discovered these two outstanding Aussie singers and when I heard this song for the first time I immediately downloaded it. These guys have the ‘it’ factor, big time.
Thanks for your great reaction. When you start your Farnham journey just remember one thing - make sure they are live!!! I will repeat what others have already recommended - Help with the MSO and Angels with Lisa Edwards. I will also add Amazing Grace with Vanetta Fields and Lindsay Field, My Yiddishe Momme with Tom Jones, and Granada with Anthony Warlow (Elevates Us). Any genre, he kills it.
John Farnham can sing anything brilliantly but watch live performances if possible. His interaction with the audience is so special. Yes, Paul McCartney said John's rendition of "Help" was how he wanted to record it but was outvoted. Jazz, swing, romantic duets, gospel, operetta, stage musicals, he can do it all. Enjoy your adventure and lifelong learning.
Isaac Hayes and David Porter wrote this song When Something Is Wrong With My Baby in 1966 and was first recorded by R&B Soul brothers Sam Moore and Dave Prater ( Sam & Dave ) in 1967. Jimmy Barnes and John Furnham didn't do this duet together until 1991.
So the guitarists name is Diesel (AKA Johnny Diesel and the injectors AKA Mark Lizotte) is successful in his own right and a very similar type of artist. He married Jimmy Barnes sister and is now his guitarist. Check out some of his work Don't Need Love, Soul Revival, Cry in Shame.
Diesel married Jimmy Barnes’ sister in law. Jimmy married Jane and Jane’s sister Jep, married Diesel. Jimmy and Jane did a bit of matchmaking to get them together, haha.
Loving your reactions. I am so glad you got to this one. This is my absolute favorite song ever. These 2 guys are totally dynamite together. They are both legendary solo artist and very good mates but only ever collaborated on a couple of songs over the years as their schedules were always so jam packed. I really would have loved to have seen more collaborations as their voices just blended perfectly. Please please check out some more from both of these guys.
@@didymalgia hey my man, love your reactions. Maybe give this Cold Chisel song a go, it was originally recorded back in 1980 but this performance is from 2011 when they did a national tour., just 9 months after their original drummer suddenly passed away. RIP Steve Prestwitch. Song is Rising Sun. th-cam.com/video/qFto-KtpgHo/w-d-xo.html Or this one from their 2015 tour th-cam.com/video/UEtVdPbCBz0/w-d-xo.html
Happy birthday Didy. This is a great version, probably on a par with the official video. It is worth noting that the guitarist is Jimmy's brother in law Mark Lazott better known as Diesel. Àll three have rich rabbit holes.
Actually it is a song from america, done by Sam and Dave. Jimmy and John just took it to another level. If you can find it, Kate Ceberano, John Farnham and Jon Stevens, with the rest of the 80's Jesus Christ Superstar cast, on the aussie tv show, "Hey, Hey it's Saturday." Has anyone suggested Tina Arena with Anthony Callea, "The Prayer," partly in Italian from their heritage, it's a big advantage. Not a kiwi, but I love Dragon, "April sun in Cuba," among others. Dave Dobbins "Slice of Heaven," about footrot flats cartoon strips.
Thank you for getting me learnt. I was totally wrong and you where right 😁. I don't think anyone has suggested that one, thanks. And thanks for the Kiwi suggestions. They have been noted down 💕
I knew that you would love this one Didy! You will thoroughly enjoy John Farnham. He's sooooo good !!! And you would be very welcome in Oz as you get our vibe! An Aussie female to look out for, with an incredible voice, is Vanessa Amorosi. Check out , "Have A Look", LIVE by her.
Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday 🥳.The Aussie power house boys and Diesel on guitar. Loved watching your face, could tell you thoroughly enjoyed it. Really Great reaction.
I want to send you down the rabbit hole with some requests, #1 this song but the music video version and the guy on the guitar is Diesel which is Jimmy Barnes brother in law #2 John Farnham, Help, with the Melbourne symphony orchestra #3 John Farnham, Your the voice, with the Melbourne symphony orchestra I like the way you let the songs play to the end before reaching 👍
If you want to deep dive into Barnes, have a listen to some of his Cold Chisel stuff ... the band that is a top act in Australia. Flame Trees (my favourite!) Khe Sahn, Bow River are among their best hits.
When the War is over : John Farnham The last time Melbourne 2003. John is about 54 here and it goes to show you how great his singing is. This one is much better than John with Jimmy Barnes in my opinion.
Happy birthday Didy! Everyone should sing on their birthday!! If you want to check out a KIWI artist, Stan Walker is his name and a beautiful song to react is “Ultralight Beam”.
Yeah, it's hard to know what to say when something is THAT good. Both Barnes and Farnham are usually better live than in the studio. I love Split Enz from New Zealand. And Dame Kiri Te Kanewa!
For NZ music you would be looking at Neil Fin but Crowded House is among his best stuff which was formed in Australia so it is a Australian/New Zealand band. Check out this link to Don't dream it's over th-cam.com/video/J9gKyRmic20/w-d-xo.html
I love Jimmy, John and Diesel singing this song... but the front of house sound engineer should have been shot for excessive use of reverb and echo effects. These guys don't need such tricks to make their vocals sound good. Great performance, bad sound!
Oh i think there's a little misunderstanding here, remember english is just my second language and i can chose the wrong words or sentences. My first time watching your review. I loved your reaction. I'm sure you will enjoy exploring the world of John Farnham and your welcome in Australia!!

Hey bro.. "split end's" and "crowded house" Anzac bands😅
How would it have been had they done a whole album together!
Would have been awesome
@@briangill4000 wouldn't it! They seemed tobring out the best in each other.
