    You are so real, cracks me up. My first gelli plate was homemade. A friend and I did about 100 pages even though it cracked and chunks fell off. Added great texture, lol. I bought one then and just love it. Great tip about the brayed, mine is in dire need.

      +Candace C Oh wow thats funny that the gelli plate started to fall apart... ive had mine for like 4-5 months and never had that happen... but i would do the same thing... keep going and utilize the texture lol Thanks for watching!

    The gears on the envelope around 33:00 look awesome! What did you wind up doing with the gears themselves?
    MUST have metallic paints when playing with these! Glitter is neat too! (& I'm not a big glitter person!)
    Glow in the dark paints would be fun, as would fluorescent paints under a black light!
    I haven't watched this since right after I made my plates last summer. It's fun to watch, to remember what to do!
    Pitting up some line with clips or clothespins to hang papers to dry would be great!
    Definitely get everything together, have lots of paper, lots of paints, lots pf stencils, watch a bunch of videos before getting started, & perhaps during too!
    Mulberry & cotton fiber papers would be incredible!
    You can also use spray acrylics, air brush viscosity to heavy body paints & everything in-between!
    You can also do multiple layers of paints and stencils, textures, etc. and even allow paints to even dry, or almost before putting on the next layer of paints!
    The script lettering would be awesome!
    The butterflies too! The gears are awesome! I really like the idea of painting the pages & the envelope was really neat!
    Metallics are mu favorite!
    It would be neat yo try to make a reverse picture from dots, then make a print out of it!
    Making book pages from a session with same paint family would be great, or you could do pages in a rainbow order kind of, then bind them together to make a book you could write in.
    Where can we upload pics of our prints? Do you still want to trade?
    You can even print on mulberry & similar papers, make book marks, do prints over textures done with inks, textured paper, create faux leather "paper" & print on it too, make wrapping paper & SO much more! The chipboard cutouts are great too!
    SO gun to do myself, and fun to watch again after a while too!
    This is a great way to get yo know your craft paints, see which you like best, which mix best, etc.
    White & black is a must, along with the brights & metallics!
    SO kewl!
    I've also seen someone use alcohol inks!
    Pebeo & other reactive paints are incredible by themselves & would be out of this world on a gelli plate, especially when you know which paints react & generally how!
    Watercolors & powdered dye/watercolors are some things to consider too!
    You can make some incredible stuff with these!

    I bought everything I needed to make my very own Gelli plate.....followed your video,,,,doubled it....set out to do its thing....my grand daughter broke the corner,,,,melted it back down. Put a sign on it,,,,don't touch, wiggle, poke or disturb in any way!!!!
    Emma decided to show her friend Alyssa how cool it was and cut a cross into it.
    Needless to say, I'll wait till we move into our own house to try it again.

    • @PinkPoodleCrafts
      @PinkPoodleCrafts  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Elizabeth Britt Well, if you're using an acrylic paint, you don't need to seal them I dont think however, you could use either mod podge or an acrylic sealer if you wanted to be on the safe side and make sure they are well preserved! :)

    I now want to share with you, if you haven't already found her, JournalArtista? She has a technique called Crustybits, that is amazing. If you can check it out, I think you'll fall in love with the Gelli plate all over again!☺️

  • @luannapierce2544
    @luannapierce2544 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Loved this video... Stacey! I spoke to you on the adjustments I made in making the Gelli plate. I got it made... and that took a day and a half. LOL. I tried it out but was initially disappointed with results of my efforts. The GELLI plate held up beautifully. I was using bills slated for shredding and RX papers.. where you do NOT want the words showing through. I did one side with Gesso the week before but did not get the other side so that slowed down the process some. I watched this again and figured out that the paint was drying and while I had my bottle to clean the plate I did not use it to wet the paint to help it. Also.. I was wondering why do you not do both sides of the dictionary pages. For instance, Paint up the gelli pad, apply paper then put a stencil down and roll your brayer over that to paint it up.. .now you have both sides done. A clothesline to hang the papers on might also help I am thinking I will start high in a door way and tack a cord to one side and extend it over to the other door sill and tack it there. when done just remove a tack and let the dry cord hang until the next time. Very cool. Gonna go set that up. SOOOOOOOO EXCITED... I got my four inch brayer today and cool paper to use and itching to paint. maybe I will post some later at face book .

    Have you continued to use your hard brayers? I'm told the soft (tan rubber) ones spread paint more smoothly and give a better result. I only have hard ones myself so I'm just askin'

    Wow that is a huge gelli plate! Like you I have been wanting a gelli plate for a very long time.. every since I had seen my first video on it years ago! But just never could afford one yet! I had thought about trying to make one after seeing Lindsay's DIY video and some of the others but I had heard that they don't last forever and after spending the money on all the supplies to make one I'd want it to last! Is yours still working? I just got one in the mail as a gift.. I's a small one about the size of my hand but am very blessed to have gotten it! It is so much fun! Maybe one day I can get a bigger one or try and make one but for now I am enjoying this one! The good thing about the small one is that you can pick it up to use it on things like boxes or in your journal! I have just started adding videos to my channel if you would please help me back out by watching them and giving me some likes back and sub to me.. I have sub to you! Oh by the way I think your name "Pink Poodle Crafts" is too cute! How on earth did you ever some up with that? Well hope you are having a blessed day.. Hugs :)

      +Southern Angel Btq. Tammy Dameron (Southern Angels Boutique) I would definitely suggest to make your own plate... my plate laste a LONG time, like months and then as it started to get a bit beat up from use, I just re-melted it in the microwave and added a bit of water to it and just put it back into the mold (dish) that I originally put it in and it re-solidified perfectly and it only took seconds to melt down and pour into the dish... was so easy! And its nice to know you can do that if it starts to get yucky but it took months for that to happen so it was definitely worth it to make my own!! :) But i am happy you got one! And yes, I made a small one too and it was great for picking up and printing with! I will check out your channel. :)
      My name came from the fact that I LOVE poodles, I have them and love them and plus I love PINK lol :) So it all worked out. Thanks for watching! :)

      I use to have a poodle when I was growing up. I love poodles and chihuahuas.. I have a chihuahua now! I had thought about making one but never could get to the store to get the supplies! We have one car and my husband or daughter always is gone off in it so I don't get to go anywhere too often! It's hard to plan to do much and when I do I have to change them because then he ends up needing the car to do something before he goes to work! I have had to start ordering anything I need now on line because I can get it quicker than trying to get to the store now! thank you for looking at my channel! I have been working so hard at it! I never knew it was this much work at making the videos and getting them up! It takes so long! Hope I get better!

    • @PinkPoodleCrafts
      @PinkPoodleCrafts  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you need another car! Easier said than done right? I didnt know you made videos,... send me a link to your blog... i looked for you on youtube and didnt see anything. Also, the next time you or whoever does the grocery shopping goes to the store, add the ingredients to the shopping list...everything for making a gelli plate can be bought at the grocery store :)

    I am just wondering how your gelli plate is doing. It has been a few months. Is it still going strong? TFS!

    • @PinkPoodleCrafts
      @PinkPoodleCrafts  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Belinda Wiggins Its actually pretty good however, i do plan on remelting it down before i plan to use it again. I dont have an air tight container to store it in so it just sits out with a piece of plexi glass over it, not the best storage option. So after about 2-3 months, it gets a bit firm on the edges and even though i could still use it, i am planning on melting it down. :)

    • @belindaw5849
      @belindaw5849 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh ok. Didn't know you had to store it in an air tight container. Good to know!

    Love the handmade gelli plate and I am actually going to be making mine today! I am just waiting for my partner to come home with the stuff that i Need to create my own and i'm looking forward to playing as well! I love your prints! My favorite is the gears one, the ones with butterflies and puzzle pieces and the rubberband ones! Totally cool! Loved everything... but the only thing i was getting frustrated about is that in the middle of the video, as you were making the prints, you weren't letting us see them too good. You would let us have a quick glance and then took it out of the camera's view way too fast. I really didn't like that because I wanted to actually see the papers in depth and actually see the prints but you took them away so fast. So for future videos with the prints, please take an extra few seconds to let us see the prints and really SEE them... but overall, GREAT video! Love your excitement over the prints that I got excited with you! LOL .. thanks for your recipe for making a homemade gelli plate... I cannot wait to make mine here in a short while. By 10pm tonight when its quiet .. I will be able to play with mine! :)
    Hugs,
    Jo
