You like fixing stuff yourself just like I do and you remined me of myself and used a lot of the same terms as I do. So I was right there with you and enjoyed it! As for Oregon, the reason I came to your video was that I’m considering buying this model (I’ve always been a gas chainsaw kind of guy but gotta keep up right?). Your video AND at the end your explaination of the wonderful customer service lady that helped you convinced me to buy the CS1500 when I can get one on sale. I am concerned about the chain drive wheel you pointed out on both your machine and the donar they sent you. When you called to thank them and tell them how it worked to bring your back to life (I think you would have done that), did you ask about that drive wheel and maybe a new stronger metal wheel? Maybe it wears on purpose. Again, great video for many reasons, all of which were you …haha. So Thank You!!
Thanks for your feedback! I think this is a great saw, but I think I pushed mine way too hard. Sometimes I was cutting multiple logs in one pass, sometimes I was pushing really hard on it to get it to cut faster, other times I ran it constantly cutting rounds on a single log without letting the trigger off (the thinking here was running it fast between cuts should help cool the motor off). Would I buy it again? Absolutely yes. But I have to keep in mind it's not my Husqvarna 😁 nor was it built to perform like that. And yes, quick steel has saved my butt many times, we fixed leaking dirt bike radiators 30 mi from the truck, broken levers, holes in the dirt bike crankcase with oil leaking out, the list goes on and on. Even used it to seal a hole in a four-wheeler wheel, which kept the tire inflated and lasted for years! But also like you, I use JB weld often, it definitely has its place, and works better for lots of things than the quick steel. Hey, I enjoyed reading your comments, thanks for sharing with me 👍

I have the CS-1400 Oregon saw and the top hose that is attached to the top of the oil pump came off at the point that it attaches to the tube near the chain.. so my oil is being pumped into the bottom of the motor case... do you have any ideas as to how I can reattach this hose without breaking the saw in half like you did?
Mine have less than 10month and use 3 times. Good oil etc.. but the plastic around the rotor melt down and it is all useless now. I send a mail for an exchange and we will see. I am in france. Hope they have good service here cause i was thinking i buy a good brand
Yes, that was my thinking also, that I was buying a good known name brand. It sounds like the design could be better. We kind of get what we pay for right? I also own a Husqvarna 545, which automatically compensates for altitude, it was about 650 US, but I can literally run it hard for hours and hours, So it was definitely worth it

Yes, thats a good point. I'm using a llloooong 12 ga cord, 100ft. It may do better with a much shorter cord off the generator. People often do read the comments so thanks for bringing that to our attention!
Lowe's Kobalt A011038 15 Amps 18-in Corded Electric Chainsaw appears to be the same saw with a different paint job. No parts available for it either. Great concept, very poor design and manufacturing. Oregon could have used more steel instead of plastic and had a really good saw. Too bad it's basically junk.
when you drop the trigger, the chain should immediately stop, and then as the electric motor winds down it makes a bit of a grindy noise. If you are worried, and if it's easy, return it, and see if the new one makes the same noise. Also, under my channel there is a playlist "oregon cs1500 electric chainsaw" that may help you with how mine sounded. Good luck!
i get the point of self repair and also learning how things work on the inside, but dude the saw is only £129 new, time labour and parts? i appreciate the video but i think i would have brought a new one especially after 4 seasons of hard use for a £129 corded saw.

What gauge of extension cord do you normally use? I believe the smaller gauge will cause more motor heat.

Sorry if my video details were confusing, but actually you have to tear down the chain side in order to get the motor off
