How awesome does that look. I make that 50 cars (plus caboose), and I don't know what the empty weight of those might be but even though they're not loaded that must be a pretty impressive weight on behind.
Its a decent amount of weight but to put it into perspective the frisco 1630 pulled 135 empties by itself and its almost half the size of this engine. The 2102 is just getting warmed up. Still kind of uncommon to see that big of a train pulled by steam nowadays.

I'm amazed that Reading 2012 has pulled a 50-car freight train in 2022 while Union Pacific 4014 hasn't!

A steam unit has to pull a certain amount of tonnage for a load test. UP uses 20 to 25 cars loaded with sand. This test used 50 hoppers.

25 tons mty coal car, 10 ton caboose.

844 only did freight because It was going to the same destination as the freight it only Made sense to put the 2 together

This IS real. The T-1s were designed to haul coal in Pennsylvania, and yesterday she hauled freight in Pennsylvania!!!
