      He also is unaware of the story happening at WR right now. Parker Washington and Tim Jones are going to be a factor on the offense this year for sure. And also Devin Duvernay. The WR room is packed with talent and will give Trevor way more options. Although I really hope that Kirk and Engram do their thing again.

    Don’t forget the Jags fired DC Mike Caldwell for Ryan Nielsen who’s huge in defensive line development for New Orleans and Atlanta.
    Doug Pederson wasn’t calling plays in 2023 because he was trying to be a little more hands on with the defense.

    They won't truly get anywhere as long as Baalke hinders them . They had a window where the rest of the division was relatively weak. That is over and then some. Texans have finally got the right people in charge, Colts almost made the playoffs while being struck by an almost worst-case scenario, Titans will be annoying to verse while they may not have the wins. Wildcard is about as good as it is likely to get for them.

    I think the jags will be fine, it’s all about player health

  • @maskedman5657
    @maskedman5657 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +17

    As a Jags fan I am really skeptical about this team going forward. Now I am in no way saying that the Jags are in a worse position than most teams. We actually had a decent off-season. We added some good O-line pieces, DBs, and a receiver.
    My problem is the layout of the organization going forward. There should be no reason why we as an organization should have kept press Taylor. But for some God of a reason Doug Peterson is obsessed with hanging on to this guy despite him being a horrible offensive coordinator. He was willing to fire his own son before he was willing to fire press Taylor let that sink in.
    Also when it comes down to DC I feel like Ryan needs and it's not a bad one but we could have done a lot better. The Falcons defense was fine but it was nowhere near the level we need it to be to win a championship. Which is what we as an organization want.
    Also the biggest problem is for Trent freaking Baalke as our GM. The guy is just not all that good when it comes to drafting. He's great when it comes to a free agency And trades but drafting is his weak point because he's always going to prioritize d lineman with long arms. he refuses to accept responsibility for his faults. He tries to place blame on everybody else but himself.
    Almost every non jags is trying to tell everybody else that other teams should not sleep on the Jags. But I'm a Jags fan and I personally am not stoked for this season.
    I think a lot of our main problems will continue because Sean Khan doesn't know which people to fire

    • @co81385
      @co81385 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I can understand your worries, particularly about Press Taylor. I'm an Eagles fan, so I know all about him. I feel like the Jags may have under achieved on offense this year, based on what they had available on offense. I wonder if he may also be hindering Trevor's development at QB. After how he finished the 2022 season, I thought that Trevor was about to make the leap into the Burrow/Allen/Lamar class of QB's. Maybe it happens this year, and I hope for the best for him (and Dougie P.), but, I have reasons to be skeptical.
      Those reasons? Some of them are what you said, the organization. I think that it was malpractice to keep trotting out Trevor during the second half of the season last year, when he was clearly not 100%. It may have cost them a playoff spot. Also, it could possibly have long-term effects on Trevor's career.

      But I'll disagree with they haven't done him wrong. Lawrence has yet to have a oline ranked out of the mid 20s. That's really the bread and butter of an offense. Take Burrow. Burrow is good....but hes hurt a lot. Can contribute a lot of that to his oline. What good is having these great players if they aren't available or have to struggle for a lot of plays. If I have to be blunt, the only thing holding this team back is ownership. Look, I love Shahid Khan and his "American Dream" story, but his son Tony, I think he is the one that Jaguars fans should be worried about. Granted, I know using AEW as a reference is not exactly a good comparison, but seeing how Khan has "managed" his talents and shows there, and then remembering that Khan is also in charge of football ops, there should be cause for worry.
    I know people like to scapegoat Baalke, but don't forget who is higher up on the ladder than him. Plus, unlike AEW, the salary cap prevents Khan from throwing money around and building a superteam. Another knock on Khan is he has no idea how to develop talent. Once again, AEW has a stacked roster, but the bulk of them were signed from other promotions, while there has not been any notable homegrown talent coming from the pipeline. My hunch is that this mindset is why guys like Lawrence and Walker have not developed as planned.
    Honestly, any criticism directed at how AEW is run, I can apply the same thing to the Jaguars. They managed to strike gold with their prospects, but have not consistently built around them. It matters not who is the head coach, GM, or franchise players on this team. Unless Khan agrees to take a step back and delegate to people more knowledgeable than him, this Jaguars team is not going to go far, especially with a resurging AFC South led by the Texans and Colts.

    Do you actually watch Jaguar games? TLaw isnt our problem. Its our ball catchers. Since hes been in the league his WRs have dropped or have tipped the ball into the hands of the opponents. Calvin dropped nearly 6 TDs last year. The defense kept us in plenty of games last year before injuries. Jags are on the verge of exploding and making a lot of noise next year. Kirk was on pace to have another 1,000 yards before he got hurt. Keep Trevor upright, run the ball effectively and get the man someone that can catch the ball. Go Jags! 🐆

      Not to mention TDs dropped by the other receiver's as well. I think I've seen about 8 dropped TDs, though I haven't seen every Jag's drop last season. I even saw like 3 where the reciever had the ball, but they just couldn't get their feet in. Tlaw has a decent amount of TDs left on the board from his receiver's just not...receiving well.

      1. Contract doesn't kick in until two years from now. 2. If you look at the yearly cap hit it's not bad until about the last to years, where it'll likely be reworked by then, everyone loves saying its a bad contract but doesn't actually look at it cap-wise. I don't blame you for the take and if it doesn't pan out we will look like the same dumbass jags so it is a gamble there, but it's either that or go back to searching for a qb, and I don't want to see that again as a jags fan, I don't miss Gabbert or Bortles so I'm glad we paid him.

But then you seem to believe that the Jags will go as far as the Divisional Round of the playoffs while also predicting that the Bus are in for "a big letdown." I don't get the disparity in your predicted outcomes for these teams. (Maybe it's the relative strength of their respective divisions?)
