There's no reason why this video should have any thumbs down, Henny thanks for the energy, passion and knowledge that you share. I myself am trying to transition fully into an iPad ecospace although it's proving challenging due to my craft being design, however your tips and tricks have proven useful to some of the functionalities I am trying to apply. Take care and God bless
There will always be those who disagree and hate 🤷🏽♂️ ... I welcome that. Thanks again for your feedback. I hope the iPad ecosystem will become less and less challenging for you as the updates roll around 👍🏼
@@HennyThaBizness Man, it has been a pleasure to watch your channel grow and I know it will continue ~ I have thought of purchasing this WD since you posted this and I know these WD drives have been hot since this video dropped but I have also read some reviews of headaches with the system... I am wondering if you are still using this drive regularly and how it has held up after 9 months? Appreciate your honesty as usual 🙏🙏🙏 #hennynotificationscrew
I bought one of these to take to Italy with me in a couple weeks in lieu of a laptop - didn’t know about Lumafusion iPad video editor. Thanks! I’m sure I’ll burn through battery on the way over there learning how to use both!!!
This is exactly what I needed...I own an iPad Pro 12.9 and it’s 64gb...it was all I could afford, and I wanted to be able to edit videos and music. I realized quickly that 64gb was not gonna cut it. Unfortunately, it’s another investment, but it will save my butt for my video and music production. Something I will definitely get. Thank you for making this video!
Like how you explain everything and let everybody know what the differences between them are, and yeah Apple needs a spokesman like you bc you explain things so people like me can fully understand what your talking about, keep these videos coming!!! Thank you
Okay first off I just got my new iPad and I started looking up information for BeatMaker 3 and nothing but your videos popped up that's dope so now I'm a subscriber I've been listening since the Parker Brothers keep up the good work fam.
Once you've edited the video, can you export the finished product from the iPad onto the SSD? Or is just a one way transfer from the SSD to the iPad? I've been searching for something to be able to edit on the go, then dump back on the drive.
Yup! It’s definitely a two way street. You can export the finished product back to the drive and also export the project files back to the drive as well! 👍🏼
Another gadget I’m saving up for 😅😂 thanks Henny. Looking forward to more videos and I really did appreciate the live hangout. That was dop. Please do another one.
Is the WDPassport (i have the non-SSD version) still a viable backup option 'on the field'. I use GoPro, iPhone and Canon G1X to collect images while on motorcycle rides. This seems to be a good option to get stuff backed up off SD Cards onto the WD and then later transfer over to other drives for storage. Is there an 'easy' way to get images/videos off the iPhone and onto the WD?
Henny, just so you know, I am looking forward to be a LumaFusion power user, absolutely thanks to you. The potential of that app and everything you show related to making my IPad Pro 9.7” an efficient tool, it’s just mind blowing. I’ll thank you forever.
It does have files app integration and you can view the files on the app without downloading, but to use the files in anyway you’ll have to download them to your device
Henny Tha Bizness cool cool. You know how peeps are complaining you can’t read SD cards when you pug the into the iPad, but this seems to be a way around that, and it’s. better because no cables. Wireless is the future.
Question for you ... I use a samsung G S8 for shooting my videos and my IPad Pro for Lumafusion. Do you know if I can use a drive like this between the two devices/operating systems?
Possibly. I’ve never used a Samsung phone before so I’m not 100% sure but I think you can wirelessly transfer videos from both so you should be ok 🤷🏽♂️👍🏼
Henny Tha Bizness So i found a solution. I’m going suggest it would work with the product you’re showing us in this video. It’s just a smaller product. Thanks for these great videos.
Hiya, sorry if I sound a bit slow,. But can you save files / music tracks to this product straight from the iPad with out using an SD card ? Many thanks.
Once the drive is full can you plug in an external drive and copy from the my passport to say a rugged drive? Or does it not recognize drives plugged into it.
Should I get this or the RAVPower FileHub? I am trying to learn about the RavPower and cannot get a clear answer if it has similar capabilities as this.
So do I need to have a wifi network for this to work? Does the file transfer speed depend on how good the wifi network is? Or does the SSD provide its own wifi “network”?
Thank you as always!!! Always appreciate you taking your time to share...I actually had the RavPower before I saw your video on it...cool device...but yes, the wireless SSD does change the game! Thanks again!
I bought one but the WD wireless pro 4TB version I got it for $179 But I don’t think it’s the SSD like yours . 4:31 You mean it has an SD card reader you said SSD drive when pointing out the SD card slot but I know what you meant
Can you transfer photos and videos from this hard drive to the internal storage on the iPad? So that you can access it in the normal photos app I mean.
Hi Henry, doesn’t this just import videos over to the iPad’s internal storage? Or can it access them via the unit over WiFi - it would be perfect if you can access files directly off the external drive and edit them in Lama Fusion, saving valuable space on the iPads limited storage.
If you change a file on your iPad “On My IPad” does the WD recognize that and auto update the file with the changes? This is something I have noticed iPads are missing. I can put a Google Drive extension on my Mac and PC, work on the local files and it automatically updates them on Drive under “Computers”. Would love to find a work around on this. Great videos btw
Any chance you can do a video on the RAVPower for those of us with tight budgets? I have an older RAVPower that I just used to stream movies and music while traveling back when I had a 16 gb iPhone 4.
I got an iPad Pro 2018 and own a Sony A6300. I am still trying to figure out how to get my 4K video files to my iPad. Is buying this Western Digital wireless SSD the best way to do this? I can get photos to show up, using the USB to USBC to the iPad. But not any video?? Henny your videos have truly kept me inspired to create more!
I have run into a snag with my WD My Passport Wireless Pro. As far as a storage device all is well. BUT, when I try and play/view 4K video files over WiFi on my 2nd Gen iPad Pro 12.9 they stutter and sputter. If I download the same file to the iPad the video plays fine. Is the “Write” speed not up to 4K? Any help would be most appreciated.
Having same issue with my wireless Pro. I have to copy the clip over to iPad Pro in order to play them smoothly.... Do you think it’d play better on SSD model?
That joint is fire I have wireless pro the one right up under it!! He's right it's a game changer and you can load anything anywhere and it's up to 8 hours battery life. that's forever. Also just through your sd card in and it starts to read it and upload it. it's the only thing i use with ipad pro. oh and it can charge any usb movie devices like phone, tablets etc. HENNY GREAT VID BRO!!
no problem love your channel very inspirational in all aspects of life not just music. it's good to see down to earth producers giving back knowledge to us!!
Yo Henny, Just found you channel. Keep it up. Was wondering with the announcement of that USB-C do you still recommend this thing for Ipad Pro workflow? I had the ipad for a week, but I just couldn't get over the file management over it with so many photos. Let me know!
Having a problem with my new 3TB WDMPWPro showing thumbnails in Luma Fusion. Also is it supposed to display RAW files on IOS devices? Thanks. Great video.
I appreciate for your great review. However, could you confirm about the part that you can copy over “selected part” of clip from drive? It seems like the entire file is getting copied over to iPad Pro although you selected small portion of the clip. (FYI, I have WD wireless pro 4TB, not SSD model, and wonder it works different on SSD.)
Hey Dude! Fantastic video. However I do have a question about the Lumafusion, that is, can I just edit the files on WD my passport wireless and not take any of my iPad storage? Or I still need to transfer the content from WD my passport wireless to the iPad, then I can edit the content? I am currently struggling with which iPad pro should I get with limited budget. Hope I can get the answer from you, thanks man!
How long would it usually take to import the whole video into LumaFusion ? Let’s say you had a 4K video from a GoPro/Drone and the file is around 4gb. Also, does it keep buffering when streaming larger files? I bought the HDD version of this and I’m wondering if the SSD is any better.
So glad you did a video on this, Henny. I have been looking for a good wireless HD. Saw that Luma fusion works with and that narrowed my shopping really quick like. One question, can you send store files wirelessly from your desktop computer? I use a PC.
Henny Tha Bizness - yeah, as you said not cheap, really expensive here in Canada, over $375CDN for the 250GB on Amazon dot CA. Haven’t found them anywhere else yet. Thanks Henny, I’ll keep look’n.
Henny Tha Bizness ok that’s great news, but just to be sure we’re on the same page before I make it rain for WD: If I have video files on a 5tb external, I can plug it into the WD, and I’ll be able to import them into LumaFusion (or to the WD drive, or even delete them if not needed)? Also, if I have my movie and music library on a separate 5tb drive and plug it into the WD, can I stream movies from it onto my iPad Pro 10.5? For clarification, these are Seagate backup portable drives, not powered desktop drives. Thanks again, man. You’re channel is crazy helpful AND inspiring.
Great video as always! Could you please dubble check that Lumafusion just import the marked part of the clip, and not the entire clip to your Ipad? Its a really big difference. Thanks!
To answer your question, I personally liked the live stream and thank you for answering my question in the live stream. I'm a PC user and planning on getting an iPad pro. I'm an illustrator and I want to develop my TH-cam channel and use luma fusion to edit videos. What storage iPad pro do you recommend now that you discovered this wd wireless hard drive?
Thanks for the feedback! If you could wait, I’d check back in around a month and see what apple brings to the table for this year. If they introduce bigger size models for the same price you might be able to get a good deal on a used or older latest version 👍🏼
Henny Tha Bizness definitely! I'd also love to hear your opinion on whether you think it's be good to get the new iPad pro or get a deal on a 2017, once Apple announces their new iPad pro of course. Love the videos and personality!
I want to move drone footage from my iPad Pro to the SSD but I cannot seam to figure out how to do so. I want to be able to move select media over to files I’ve created on the device but I cannot figure this out. I moved one video from the iPhoto app but I could not create a file name to manage my media. Nor did it copy a thumb nail. I hope I’m missing something because I don’t like it so far.
Great video sir. I’m so relieved that there is a simple product that can easily upload videos straight to iPad and LumaFusion. I’ve been struggling to get my older hard drives to sync or upload to my iPad. I’m definitely going to buy this one. Thank you for a great video.
I know Lumafusion works great for video on my iPad Pro with this device but what photo editing app works with this device on my iPad? Also can you tell what is that cool looking watch you are wearing ? Thanks for the perfect video about this WD device, you answered al my questions!
Hi Henny, really glad I can ask someone who used it intensively, because I have a doubt: couldn’t we use a regular computer to do this job? I now copy my cuts to Google Drive and then import to LumaFusion. Cheers
Henny. Awesome video. I just got a Sony7aiii. My iPad Pro does not detect the video files from the camera when I plug the sd card using the Apple sd lightning dongle. Do you have experience with this issue? How do you work around the issue?
I understand the frustration. There is a way to import files with a micro usb cable and the usb to lightning adapter. I talked about it in another video about managing files on iOS. I get asked this question a lot and need to figure out a better solution. I’ll keep you posted!
hey henny! have you ever try to automatic sync your memory then it doesnt work? i have trouble with my memory SD card Transfer from my GoPro. it used to available to automatic sync, but it cannot running automatic right now, i need open apps to copy the file, i had been google so many time, its dont have any solution, if you ever face this situation please share some tips thanks
Hey Henny, I bought the wireless pro 3 Tb a month ago and I took it on a trip of 3 weeks to Norway. It did his thing, but it was slow... after twoweeks the problems came that he couldn’t connect with the 5 GHz anymore. It said that my passwords were wrong... and a few seconds later it was ok again. After I got home it became totally corrupted and I could only get in with my Mac. The internet store where I bought it offered to give me back my money. I thought a long time to bu the SSD version, but I thought it was to expensive and was scared that it wouldn’t work properly. Afterwards I found out that it was a returned product where the previous owner had put windows Nt on it ! Instead of Exfat. (I thought I did a bargain to buy a second chance product). ...Then I found the LaCie Copilot!!!. It’s almost the same thing, but it connects whit a cable and it’s fast, although it’s not an SSD. It’s a 7.200 rpm drive, with battery an SD backup and it also connect to LumaFusion via Maps and there you choose ICloud. LumaFusion told me that it doesn’t connect, but it does. They were in touch with LaCie to make it work together.perhaps in the future it has the direct connection and you can import parts of you video’s. for the moment you have to upload the whole of your video to your iPad. But it’s much cheaper only 350 $ for 2 Tb. www.lacie.com/products/dji-copilot/. I appreciate your video’s the one where you demonstrated LumaFusion made me decide to buy the product.
Wow. Thanks for the review and update! I never heard of the co-pilot. Then again, I wasn’t really hip the WD wireless until one of the subscribers mentioned it in another video. I’ll have to check it out. I really do love SSD drives now, juts because I’ve had regular hard drives go bad on me many times corrupting a ton of my music files in the past. The fact that this has a cable has me thinking 🤔.. Thanks again!
This video is super helpful. How would I go about exporting my edited image from the ipad, to the wireless ssd, to my phone in order to post on social media without losing image quality?
Thank you! Sort of... you actually can view the files straight from the WDP but once you find the clips, they get transferred to your device for proper editing... hope that helps
Hello! Is it possible to do the same trick with importing a part of a file on a regular WD hard disk wi-fi or it works only with SSD version? How can you compare the speed of work between the two? I think to buy ipad with a smaller memory storage and a large SSD disk. Thank you for your great content. Keep going!
6 months later. This originally looked like such a good idea, but in my instance, not so much. I save the RAW files from my Olympus OMD’s SD card to the WDMPWP. They show up on my 12.9 iPad Pro through the WD app. The files are labeled “.ORF”. Can’t figure how to import to the iPad My Photos from the WDMPWP. The icon will not highlight when the file is selected. BUT, I can import the same exact file through a dongle to the iPad directly from the SD card which pretty much defeats the purpose of the WDMPWP for me as far as I can tell. It sure would be nice if I have overlooked something.
Nice vid, but your mic or top camera is blinking into the video when filming from front I think. You can see a small round black blurred thing on top center.
With MyPassport Wireless Pro, will it copy the files that you bring to the timeline? Is that the only way? I would rather not want to copy the files to my iPad storage, but work off the WD MyPassport Wireless Pro. Is there a way with LumaFusion?
Cool Vid, was very helpful. Did you have this issue --> Once I downloaded the video onto wd passport I opened them in Luma Fusion but I do not see the thumbnails like you show in the vid, instead it shows a film roll and a cloud icon and the clips are unusable in Lumafusion.
this is also the solution to everyone saying you cant plug in an external hd to the new ipads. also makes it to where you dont have to go crazy on the storage on the new ipads. i got the new one with 256gig storage and might use this to do projects
Henny thanks for the video! I was undecided on which wireless hard drive to buy but your review made the decision simple. One question I have though, can this hold other file types? .psd, .ai, .docs, etc?
I love everyone of your videos! I learn something I can use every time. I have a question: how does this WD Wireless compare to using a Gnarbox? Or do they do different types of things? Also, I’m thinking of getting a Sony a6500. You mentioned that this drive is a game-changer for Sony users. How is that exactly? You mentioned something about the codec. I don’t know exactly what that means. Like many others, I too love the life advice you drop on us. Very cool! Thank you for the videos and the time you give answering questions and comments.
Thanks for the support! Compared to the gnarbox, the one feature this has that stands out is the auto back up button for importing your sd card files directly to the hard drive without the need of your device. As far as Sony files, the codec (or file type) Sony uses for videos is not compatible with iOS’s normal importing methods. Meaning, if you buy the sd card to lightning adapter to import your Sony files, the reader will only see the photos and not the video. That’s why using something like the WD is a game changer because once you copy the files to the drive, your iOS device can see the files and copy them over no problem 👌🏼👍🏼
Hey Henny, Now that Gnarbox 2.0's coming soon and the some people use Copilot Boss instead of My Passport. Would you still think that the MY Passport is the best backup solution and tool to work with Lightroom mobile and Lumafusion? Ted Forbes from the The Art of Photography channel seems to favor Copilot Boss. What do you think?
Hello from 🇺🇸Harrisburg Pennsylvania 🇺🇸 Im new at this Western digital my passport wireless SSD 500GB only had this unit 1week 😀 I’m using my new 2018 12.9 I PAD PRO 3RD Generation with it to back up , My problem is any 2k or 4K video from my GO PRO 7BLACK or my Phantom 4Pro drone will not play right when I try to watch it with my SSD whenever I upload it into the SSD card reader slot ,If I upload the same videos into my iPad Pro the movies playing fine any recommendations

Do they make left and right stereo to one ear bud wireless. Deaf in left ear.

It is the GH5 for this and all of my other videos. I have footage using my m50 and it looks good, I just never used it for a video.
Thanks Henny!

Yes

What kind of Ipad case and pen is that. I've looked at your kits and don't see it?
It’s the apps pencil and the apple leather iPad sleeve
So glad you did a video on this, Henny. I have been looking for a good wireless HD. Saw that Luma fusion works with and that narrowed my shopping really quick like. One question, can you send store files wirelessly from your desktop computer? I use a PC.
I’m not sure since I’m in a mac. I believe you can, but don’t quote me on it 🙏🏼
Can you tell us how well your Mac is able to read the drive? Can it do it through the Wi Fi? Do you need a special application on your desk top?
Henny, very very kool! Thanks for sharing your experience with the WD SSD, yup, truly a game changer!
Thanks for checking it out! I appreciate that!!
Henny Tha Bizness - yeah, as you said not cheap, really expensive here in Canada, over $375CDN for the 250GB on Amazon dot CA. Haven’t found them anywhere else yet. Thanks Henny, I’ll keep look’n.
Can you attach another hard drive to the WD and use it like a hub, similar to the ravpower one?
Yes you can, but you’ll still
Have to copy the files you need to your iPad to properly use them.
Thanks!
I’ll check again but from my usage it always downloaded the entire clip to my iPad when I did it.
Thanks for the quick answer! It was probably me who missunderstood you in your movie.
Can we tranfer my files directly from my camera by connect camera to USB port on Hard drive. Thanks
How does this work with the new iPad Pro 2018 model? Is it the same? Thank you Henny!
And the speed of transfers?
Great video sir. I’m so relieved that there is a simple product that can easily upload videos straight to iPad and LumaFusion. I’ve been struggling to get my older hard drives to sync or upload to my iPad. I’m definitely going to buy this one. Thank you for a great video.
I know Lumafusion works great for video on my iPad Pro with this device but what photo editing app works with this device on my iPad?
Also can you tell what is that cool looking watch you are wearing ?
Thanks for the perfect video about this WD device, you answered al my questions!
I use darkroom app for editing on my iPhone but also use affinity photo on my iPad for more photoshop needs
I bought this WD drive on Ebay today!
Snapseed is amazing as a photo editor app! 😌👍
Hi Henny, really glad I can ask someone who used it intensively, because I have a doubt: couldn’t we use a regular computer to do this job? I now copy my cuts to Google Drive and then import to LumaFusion. Cheers
What are your thoughts on Lacie/Diji Copolite boss sounds like a game changer also w/no need for WiFi? Let me know thanks
Waiting for it's improved version with USB 3.2 Gen2 and USB C connectivity and faster PCIe SSD.
what size did you get?
Is it possible to write to this drive in real time for video editing
Bro this is dope. Im a watch all your videos TONIGHT!!
Excellent explanation on the kit. Question: from a photographers perspective, does the device save photos in RAW?
Cool pictures man! Do you also edit them on your ipad?
hey henny! have you ever try to automatic sync your memory then it doesnt work? i have trouble with my memory SD card Transfer from my GoPro. it used to available to automatic sync, but it cannot running automatic right now, i need open apps to copy the file, i had been google so many time, its dont have any solution, if you ever face this situation please share some tips
thanks
Does anyone know if you can render directly back to the WD SSD?
Awesome. Been thinking about that for a while. Glad you reviewed it
Thanks for watching!
Hi Henny! Love what you do and keep learning a lot of stuff! QQ? Is it possible to edit AVCHD files straight from the WDP through LF?
Thank you! Sort of... you actually can view the files straight from the WDP but once you find the clips, they get transferred to your device for proper editing... hope that helps
First vid of yours I came across... super entertaining, informative and you get the message across! Subbed
Awesome feedback! Thank you for that. Appreciate the sub 🙏🏼
Would it work with an iPhone?
Additionally, for iphonographers, you can plug into lightning port and download directly to hard drive. How sweet is that?
Nice vid, but your mic or top camera is blinking into the video when filming from front I think. You can see a small round black blurred thing on top center.
Hey does anyone know about ejecting hard drives from you iPad properly? Is this something you can do?
With MyPassport Wireless Pro, will it copy the files that you bring to the timeline? Is that the only way? I would rather not want to copy the files to my iPad storage, but work off the WD MyPassport Wireless Pro. Is there a way with LumaFusion?
Hi, are you working on 4k files? how long does it take to copy it?
Yes my brother! Been waiting on this tech to come out.
Thanks for checking it out fam!
Greetings , i wanna know if i buy this hard drive, can I leave it home and still get Access to my files via internet if im in another place.?
Thank you, I was very curious on how did it works
Sure thing! Thanks for watching!
Can you do a video can your camera setup. I love it .I brought the m50 after you suggested. Thanks for the suggestion
Henny thanks for the video! I was undecided on which wireless hard drive to buy but your review made the decision simple. One question I have though, can this hold other file types? .psd, .ai, .docs, etc?
Sure can. You can use this drive in the files app and copy over whatever other files you need. 👌🏼
What’s the big deal about not being able to plug in external storage to the new iPad pros if we can just use this?
Can you export drawings from ipad to external as well?
Thats a yes?:):)
