I bet if a shoe store was having a hard time selling shoes, he would suggest stacking one of every pair of shoes they sell in a massive pyramid as a solution.
Nathan is so fucking funny. It's like he's an alien trying to fit in with the human family at the dinner table. He can say the least funny thing ever and for some reason it has the entire room laughing. That's how I felt watching The Rehearsal.
Nathan Fielder really saved this, he is extremely charismatic in a very lowkey way and he kept the dead airs and awkward silences as brief as he could, obviously I love Ari Aster but he doesn't really seem in his element during a lot of these QnA's sometimes so it's nice to have a good moderator
Love hearing Ari try and explain things. I think he’s also trying to understand all of the symbolism he put in the movie. Things can be interpreted in SO many different ways even the artist doesn’t fully comprehend them
And then comes a french guy to remind everyone that American cinema is not the only one and there plenty of actors as good as joaquin ahah. But I agree Joaquin and Daniel day lewis are phenomenal actors
Pretty sure it was intentional how the ending credits everyone is slowly leaving the arena and in real life it was happening in the theatre (going back to the play bleeding into the audience) but it would have been cool to ask him.
I smoked weed in the theater WHILE watching Beau is afraid, I was having a great time the first hour, I was confused but entertained the second hour, I was irritated the third and borderline upset when the credits rolled. I’ve been thinking about the film for 4 days now and I’m understanding it a bit more, I do enjoy the film. Will probably watch it once a year
@@bencarlson4300 it definitely made it more bearable, I LOVE surreal abstract films but I was literally on the verge of walking out and watching evil dead instead
@@PapaCopperpot I never got to that point, I loved it up until maybe the attic scene and my brain just broke from exhaustion, after that point it was still interesting but definitely could have been cut.
Drove an hour with my daughter from the countryside to an eclectic(many of the patrons could have been cast in the first scene, loved that), extremely uncomfortably small, nostalgic art deco theatre. Half way through a man yelled "BITCH" at the screen (to the mother) the audience agreed. Following, were many sighs and exhales and constant physical adjustments in seats. We had had enough of the passive character and the god mom. It ran me through like the Price is Right wheel. Spinning in anticipation. Laugh, disgust, hatred, fear, uncomfortable, repeat repeat...I literally looked at the exit signs and thought of leaving but couldn't. I was trapped. Bravo. Note my interpretation, that the ending "little man in the boat" metaphor, is his mother's "ejaculation is precedence over his" she is winning. Always right. Always first. Ugh GD, so sad.
"It just flips... so fast." LOL something about the way he says it is so funny. I was actually really disturbed with the ending part, how long it lingered on Beau struggling and drowning out of frame. I'm hoping next time I'll be able to see how he meant it to also be silly and comical.

From one of Canada’s top business schools…
Ari Aster and Nathan Fielder, the duo I never realized I wanted
everyone else has realized they wanted it. Welcome to the club!
Right!!! This is insane haha

I'm five minutes in, and so far he's coming off like a comedian making some good dry jokes, so I don't really understand this description?
well they did say they were on LSD….so that’ll do it

One of the best movies of the year most people won't understand

Joaquin has a very interesting demeanor. Probably the best actor alive and he seems extremely humble and anxious
Daniel Day-Lewis is still out there somewhere
He is high on acid
@@dr.dragan he’s phenomenal but not the best

Yeah how dare you not bring a motion stabilizer. Thank you for filming/uploading this. So jealous you got to experience this IRL.
A Rehearsal episode where Nathan has to drop acid over and over again while rehearsing for this
Nathan's dry shit talking is the perfect balance for frustrating non answers lmao
The movie was amazing and all people involved rock
Pretty sure it was intentional how the ending credits everyone is slowly leaving the arena and in real life it was happening in the theatre (going back to the play bleeding into the audience) but it would have been cool to ask him.
I felt trolled when i saw that
I loved this
lmao i love how much contempt nathan has for the audience
i mean their questions are pretty shit

I had the same reaction and I was sober, I cannot imagine what this movie would be like under the influence, holy hell.

They only had to pay $20 to see Joaquin Phoenix do stand up? Hell YEah!
You can't convince me Nathan didn't rehearse this
6:13 The Best Joke, Hosted by Nathan Fielder, from an ARI ASTER Q&A

Id say its him drowning in his sorrows depression anxiety and regret
They need to do a film together
I saw Nathan and clicked
THANK YOU FOR FILMING THIS OMG
Now that Nathan Fielder has The Curse I’m really starting to see similarities to Beau is Afraid
Thank you man ! Great session with these incredible artists
I'd be so happy to be in that room
"It just flips... so fast."

“Here’s these guys that’re trippin”
See? Even Joaquin knows Ari was trippin when he wrote and directed this film. Or was he referring to the acid?
thanks for this
I wish someone asked who came up with the graffiti drawings in the beginning of the film. I feel like that could had been Nathan Fielder's doing.
How do you get invited to a screening like this? Looks so awesome!
I was actually questioning if he was a cg version of a younger Joachim Phoenix.
chernobyl quality
Awesome!
Finally something that works
What the HELL is up with the filming of this q&a?! 😂
I’m very experimental with my filmmaking
@@howtobleachyourhair You must be the guy who only went to film school for a month
they are definitely on LSD
Is this kid who filming on acid? His camera work is wild.
Other drugs
Is this the perfect movie to see with your mom?
No, there is a very explicit sex scene. It may be uncomfortable to view with parents
Yes it is, perfect Mother’s Day movie that other guy must be amish or something its like PG-13 at worst
No see it with ur Mom barely has any PG-13 content so ur good
im soooooo happy i didn't take her to this one 😂
I watched it with my mom. She didn't really have a strong reaction or opinion on it, she just kinda felt sorry for Beau and was confused lol.
Was Nathan joking about there being another Q&A he moderated with Ari? No one's uploaded anything else.
yes
No he wasn’t joking. It was right before this one. I’ll upload some footage I got from someone else at some point

did they talk spoilers in this interview?
It was a viewing party before hand I believe
18:48 wth? is he wearing a clown makeup?
They have part of the projection shining on their faces the whole time. It must have been really annoying.
I can’t tell if they really took acid or Joaquin was fucking around, or he himself was the one on acid.
ari confirmed he was on acid on a reddit ama. although he said he had a "very high tolerance" lmao
This is unwatchable. The filming is so bad. What is happening? It’s like the person filming was winding up to throw a fastball for 25 minutes.
close ur eyes
"A" for effort.
How did no one ask about his old short film Beau? 🤦
Good lord most of these questions were so surface level & terrible lool
Can you keep a camera steady at all? Watching this gave me a severe migraine
I’m having a heart attack rn because of it
bro was falling asleep it was like 4 hours long
Just close ur eyes and listen to the audio then man idk what to tell u
@@howtobleachyourhair kick his ass! Lol
He’s trying to hide the camera
I think Ari should do just a plain comedy to make up for this nightmare of a movie
no
Joaquin is so upset he didn’t get offered any acid
