Much thanks for the time stamps and titles. I live only a 5 minute drive from Keio Yomiuriland where this was held, and went to the yearly festival 3 times, I don't think I went to this one, but definitely remember Select Live '92. Of the set above, Milagre Dos Peixes is my favorite.
Marcus Miller's "Run for Cover" Marcus Miller - bass, Dean Brown - guitar, Patches Stewart - trumpet, Everette Harp - saxophone, Philippe Saisse - keyboards, Steve Thornton - percussion, Poogie Bell - Drums
Omar Hakim has always been 1 of my fave drummers (could be my very fave), and as far as I know his play on Herbie’s Cantaloupe Island here is the most sublime in his career.
As I enter the twilight years of my life, one thing remains to be said: Thank you Marcus Miller and all the collaborators in this concert including Milton de Nascimento who performed with the "Lady of my Dreams" i.e. Mercedes Sosa! Gratias a la Vida to you all for your contribution to my "Quality of Life" during my short stay on Mother Earth!
Back then, I had a recorded video tape for this program and dubbed the audio onto a cassette and listened to it over and over (to death). A lot of great people appear, but looking back now, I think it was the best period of their careers. (Pat Metheny and Sanborn weren't there that year.) Personally, I think Everett Harp was the one who was the greatest performer on the stages. (Dean Brown's playing was amazing, but he looked like Ken Shimura (志村けん) for some reason lol)w Thanks to hearing Lalah Hathaway here, I got to know the music of her father, Donny Hathaway. The music is something I'll cherish forever.

Marcus is one of the reasons I'm studying jazz trumpet in University right now , first heard this when I was 7 years old.. knew from then that this is what I want to do .. gotta love an inspiration that actually makes you go for it!! Fuck me in the trumpet.. God I LOVE music like this 🙌 😩 😍

25 years went by since this great concert - wow!! Special attraction is on the Marcus Miller (he has never been that good) Projekt and the Herbie Hancock/Milton Nascimento session. Watch it!
miller is legendary as far as Marcus millers live performance goes as a band i do more so like the live 90s performances especially his 94-96 band but as a bass player current Marcus Miller is far better than his younger self ...as the years progressed from the late 70s to 2019 Marcus got better and better ..still in his musical prime and has more mastery over his bass and the solos and overall in the pockets he plays effortlessly with an uncanny ability to groove like no other
Definitely, agree with that. This performance is great, but a as a regular visitor of his live concerts it's absolutely clear to me that he got even better and better. Marcus is a gem
They are the Milton Nascimento Band: Paulinho Carvalho, Bass.. Robertinho Silva, Drums,... Tulio Mourao, Keyboards... Robertinho´s twins, percussion.... and the great Milton on guitar and vocal! Milton stills around but with different line up
Thank you! I was able to backtrack to the band by googling the lyrics of one of the songs in this concert haha it wasnt easy but i found out it was Milton, but thanks to you now i know the names of the rest of the band! Cheers!
Best bodybuilder jazz band in the world
jajajajajajajajaja
Lol
After watching this ,nobody can tell me i haven't been to a jazz university .😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂pure joy
The BEST version of Run For Cover for ever.

Each band has its own texture, colour, approach to music, sound. Just love there compositions.

Umarum bu video hiç silinmez. ❤
Fascinating to hear how a sixties standard evolved over the decades.

Jebus but if this ain't a who's who of great jazz cats, I dunno what is. Superb. Grooves thicker'n gravy.
Bonejive
Thanks 😊
Amazing!
I love hearing Wayne be so unenigmatic and just stretch out like he does here.

OMG Wayne Shorter !

everyone so coked up doing run for cover hahaha
Herbie - Wayne
