Nailed it. It's all about entitlement, the good time, being weak. My ex (narc) husband discarded me from a long term marriage. He said he wanted "to party" and new supply was the perfect party girl. In his 60's, consuming too much alcohol and too much bar food. Shame to watch someone destroy themself, but my discard was my blessing, so forward I go.

Hard times bring people together=strength. Weak/sickness of mind first then body, all Sickness is caused by Trauma (Gabor Mate, etc..) We find Strength in coming together in the adapting to hard times and overcoming. In weakness/sickness mankind creates separation... becomes greedy, entitled, doesn't deal with it's own stuff and projects self loathing and harm onto others.

I made my life so simple that became bored, a lot. I came to realise what I thought I wanted is not always what's needed. As an example, when we were all made to work from home and given kit I loved it at first but now there's no teams working together. I've begun going back in the office more to get that interaction/communication. Whilst I can and do like being on my own for long periods of time it's not life. I realised if I felt like this, there must be others so, I set up a fortnightly ladies group in my village fully expecting no one to show up and what a surprise! There's anything from 10 to 15 ladies attend every meet up. I'm finding solutions to things in my life, I just have to listen and work at it. What I do today pathes the way for tomorrow.

Music is an escape, true. But escaping will never bring true peace. Confronting and conquering those fears/goals takes hard physical work as well. I quit playing my drums about 2 yrs ago. I started buying tools for working. I quit focusing on useless talents, endeavors and put focus on real life skills. fixing things and building things. My own mental health. Making a home for myself etc. I can't do all that wasting my precious moments on "playing" drums, as fun as that may be. Someday I'll sit at the kit again. But until then. I got a lot of work to do and money to make.😂
I've wasted a lot of my life on useless things. Hope the other half will be more productive😂
When I do pick up the stix again, I'll have the money for my own bedroom studio!😂

Richard, just watched the video with Sam and yourself regarding why you can’t get over the narcissist. Sam talks about grief of self, I don’t think it’s grief of self (physical), it’s grief of the person they thought they were. So it’s actually cathartic breaking up with a narcissist because you can grieve the self that wanted that toxic relationship. It’s an opportunity to in a sense ‘reinvent’ oneself. Perfect foundation for dealing with your own trauma to strengthen yourself and insert boundaries and not be ‘stimulated’ again and become vulnerable again.

I think it depends where you live, though, and what we mean by hard times. While we (in the west) may not be at war, it has become incredibly expensive to live, people get little sleep, and are largely a few steps away from being homeless. We've just come out of a pandemic, and I think a lot of our issues are due to all of the aforementioned (albeit the pandemic is recent) coupled with the popularity of social media. But I believe the divisive politics and culture wars are a symptom rather than a cause. If we were doing fine, we'd likely go back to Honey BooBoo and Duck Dynasty, and recount the latest reality show, but there's a lot going on in society, and so society is going to talk about it.

I grew up in extreme poverty. No running water or electricity until I was 11 and then my brother and I helped dig a 500 yard ditch from the well house to the weird trailer my fundamentalist and frankly mentally ill ( not bio but didn't know until 15) father and echo mom that was filled with hoarder garbage to connect a pipe to it. We were " unschooled" but thank the God's for my Grandpa that taught me education was my only way out of poverty( obviously upward mobility has changed). So I CHOSE to survive and educate myself because I was shown a better way. I finally was allowed to go to public school in ninth grade where I saw that I could get my anger out in sports and also find structure. However, the " difficult" childhood I experienced, has allowed me to survive people and situations that kill other people. I remember moving into a house in college and being so grateful to have a room that had HEAT and to be able to be physically safe and go flush a toilet with a HANDLE and not a bucket. While my roommates bitched about their parents not sending checks on time or that the water wasn't hot enough. Most of them are tragically unhappy today because they live " boring" lives. OR they had bad shit happen and instead of grieving and processing it( which is ok RESPONSIBLE) it's now everyone else's job to take care of their emotional disregulation. Or the entitlement they feel allows them to be mean to loved ones, the public, or anyone else. Guess what you don't get to treat people like shit because someone once did you dirty. You set firm boundaries, you TAKE no shit but you can do that without being an awful person and then transferring that energy even further. I will say that I learned to accept unacceptable things interpersonally as a child and have learned to put a shield up to protect myself so that the softness that I DO have is not destroyed.I can love and nurture my family, that is something that is in me and for years I kept hidden until I had my babies. But do I regret not having the amenities other kids had? No because I know I will be fine if shit is hard and have been. My kids get to have a gentler childhood but they also have known adversity and are not just GIVEN everything and are taught basic survival skills. This isn't to say, I haven't made SHIT choices and then had to deal with the fallout. The fallout of not dealing with my psyche and the dark parts of myself. I wouldn't be watching these if I hadn't invited people into my life, to make me fight for my own.

Trina you are an amazing individual and an outstanding mummy by the sound of it! Really glad I read your comment, I find what you’ve said really confirming in the ways I’ve been thinking about my own life and conclusions I’ve come to understanding only recently so genuinely thanks for sharing!!!
I’ve overcome a lot in my childhood, early twenties and just these past couple months (25yo) and your words speak to me, your dutiful perseverance, priority of self responsibility with a non complaining focus and wise maturity that is truely commendable. I like how encouraging your comment is to me and how accepting you are of all the trials and tribulations you’ve faced - your imperfections as a mother, I especially like your focus on not particularly sheltering your children from adversity in bubble wrap, my ex was a bubble wrap boy and he’s a shit person and a shit father if you can even call him that and I’m not even trying to be mean tbh. I want my child to understand life has suffering and you will suffer and that’s okay get on with it. I have too and that’s okay aswell, it’s what you do with the energy from it, like you say! I’ve spent my time grieving my own self and I’m at the full responsibility stage. I channel a lot of that suffering in words and create art that people enjoy reading and it gives me great sense of purpose. I want to instill in my child the knowledge I have from my own childhood too, she’s been very much spoilt especially from her grandparents and at this point in time they’re not respectful and we’re taking a break from them which they don’t understand either because they are narcs. The change in my child is huge, but she definitely has the little narcissism seeds in her and sense of entitlement, along with uncanny ability to deceive and lie. It’s been truely great to watch her grow into a more conscientious and empathetic little person, a lot of it I understand is just cultural differences but as someone from NZ we’re very tribe focused and cooperative, as long as she doesn’t end up so much like her father I know she’ll be fine and prepped to live her adult life and I’ll consider that a job well done indeed.

Very real authentic thought provoking stuff. I'm 72, always been concerned about what I call 'the attack on men'. Through different movements the dialogue of being 'for women but not against men' was hijacked to frankly anti-men, and I was so against it. When as an artist exhibiting 'mothers gifts' it was only for daughters. I had a son. It was very concerning. The marginilisation of men has reached epic proportions with the rainbow craze. Only by the brave men speaking out, like our worthy gentleman here, can a touch of being humble prevail.

VeRy Appreciated…. Hard work really is healthy vs too much softness, it’s veRy true…. Over pettiness, intolerance etc. Yep 👍…. We DO have the capacity for self control, etc…. & many simply forget that….entitlement playing a part…. Gratitude goes down…..ThAnk You for saying this all, straight up 👍….. The only point I would like to Add is that there are those old school people who just say forget about feelings altogether - I’ve heard some of those people - hard workers, but also filled with stress, anxiety, addiction, etc…. So untreated narcissism, codependency will not be resolved Only through hard work and toughening up. I know you know this but I feel it’s important to say. It’s Yin and Yang ☯️ as you have taught us - always moving….. Your message is still VeRy Strong 💪 though, because for all who Are doing the daily work of recovery healing - the Yang of hard core discipline and toughness can get lost…. does get lost.. I agree with the idea and the sentiment, I think many of us are living through incredibly difficult times and are finding our strengths as a result. I also find that strong people often aren't the type to rest on their laurels, they embrace change, they become watchful if things stay the same for 2 long and they automatically look for ways to improve things, they are almost manufacturing healthy stress and growth even when times are 'easy'. Narcissists are the biggest waste of space to be around as they are either change averse or change (aka supply) obsessed - they are so out of true balance it makes your head spin.

It was once upon a time it was called honorable to suffer with dignity and courage. People now just create problems where there are none, as if real life doesn't dish out enough reality on it's own. But most people don't seem to be able to deal with real situations. Big mystery? For me, attitude in any given situation is a freedom of choice that no one can ever take from you under any circumstances. (No matter how terrible). How we respond in our minds and hearts is our inner power that can't break our spirit. I know this from life experience. Might I recommend a book I'm sure most of you have head of, Man's Search For Meaning. There are many releases of it, but all good. Life needs you all. Ask life what you can do for it, it will show you. Trust in yourself and it's ok to cut the people out of your life that try to bring you down.
