School of Rock Shred Contest at The Rave Semi Finals (aka Part 3)

- I shot ten hours of performances by School of Rock Show Teams. They were separated by various rounds of of the Shred Contest - here are the semi-finals. I was not able to shoot the final contest which occurred at Summerfest. This is the third of three parts.

I did not shoot the actual Finals as that occurred at Milwaukee's Summerfest as I did not have a photo/video pass.

If they hade more gain and some reverb it would sound a lot better
Fun to watch. Everyone has to start somewhere, but everyone should take note of the kid with purple hair. He played fast (who cares) but he played the notes CLEAN. All of the contestants should know how fast they can play while playing the notes cleanly. I was impressed with the purple hair kid because he played the notes cleanly. A side note, I got a laugh and smile out of the contestants that "jerk their jaw" and "play along with mouth movements."
He was the final winner.

Congrats to all these kids that competed, they were all awesome.
Takes me back to when I was 16. The one thing that sucked was the anemic dried up tone these kids were provided. An OD pedal and a delay pedal should have been on. When you play with crap tone you sound is going to Peter out. Great job kids. Keep shredding.
Even the worst among them were still quite good for the environment they had to "compete" in.

I wish I had been able to shoot the finals, but that was at _Summerfest,_ and there was no way I could have gotten a photo/video pass. Lucas with the purple hair from Seattle was the ultimate winner. Lauren Conner from Chicago had been the winner the year before.
Just to follow up, the winner was Lucas from Seattle with the purple hair.
Not sure if trolling, or genuinely doesn't understand how equipment failures are a thing.
Jarrik73 I don’t know if you would call it an “equipment failure” when it’s was just the batteries in his pick-ups that were dead, seems more of a “player failure”

I imagine at that age it's really tough to get your shit together on stage in front of so many people, so everyone that got up there and tried /fistbump
Is there some kind of limit on how much post/pre gain is allotted on the amp? Or, are they using lousy guitar adjustments?
It's a shred contest. Each kid gets up there and shreds for a minute, and nobody gets any time to fiddle around with amp settings.
@@MidWestConcertVideo2, Um, I would adjust the basic settings in 5-10 seconds. Wouldn't even bother with bass, treble, mid, or reverb. Just pre and post gain should be enough out of a Marshal Amp to do any kind of shred.

Painting your fingernails and wearing fingerless mittens always make you shred better.
To be honest, these kids or guys were pretty nervous so 30 seconds is plenty. They were all great 👍

the kids at 12:06 and 16:35 had more emotion in their playing than anyone just an opinion

all of them had skill and talent just because you do not define it a skill does not mean they don't have skill that's your opinion not facts so stop bashing these guys and just appreciate young talent

there young and still improving very few of them are gonna have complete control of there skill
